First part sounds good. Morris v NFO not too bad, but would you have funds to upgrade him the week after?

no only 0,3 in the bank. Would also be able to play 442, with Botman.

Referring to these clean sheet odds...

    GW9 clean sheet odds:
    NEW: 47%
    NFO: 44%
    MNU: 42%
    BRE: 40%
    LIV: 40%
    TOT: 38%

Which defender is a best 1 week punt (before gw10 wc) maximum 5.4!

    A. Porro/Udogie
    B. Schar/Burn
    C. Dalot?
    D. Pinnock?

Probably need to get Salah then.

    Team:
    Leno / Areola
    Trippier / Udogie / Digne / Estup / Botman
    Son / Madd / Mbuemo / Foden / JWP
    Haaland / Alvarez / Watkins

    Son&Foden out for Salah&Anderson for a hit?
    Or leave it another GW?

I mean, Son will inevitably score but not having Salah is going to start to hurt with those fixtures.

Other option is to lose Haaland but I don't see any viable forwards for him. Darwin maybe.

Based on the last game Son keeps coming off early, and as you can only really have 2 out of Son, Salah and Haaland. Salah and Haaland probably the best of those

These were my transfers in and out going zero-Haaland and below that the players I kept. I can get Haaland back keeping Trippier, Salah, Saka, Son, and Bowen with my team value looking good and it is just climbing further now.

    Estupinan → Porro
    Botman → Cash
    Leno → Turner
    Bell → Trippier
    Baldock → Robertson
Disasi → Tarkowski (subbed on 7 pointer for Saka)
    Edouard → Watkins
    Haaland → Nunez

Players I kept were Salah, Son, Areola, Alvarez, Saka, Bowen and Gordon.

    Bus team GW9
    Areola
    Tripps Robbo Porro
    Salah Son Saka Bowen
    Watkins Nunez Alvarez

    Turner Gordon Cash Tarkowski

I for one do not believe Haaland will blank vs BHA but if my cap (between Salah and Son) hauls then the only way Haaland crushes me is if my whole team blanks. I have a good enough bench as well to deal with no shows. I also went heavy on defence as I prefer having a defensive benching headache compared to having to bench expensive attacking assets.

I am not advocating going no Haaland but with others in the FPL community talking about it earlier this season already, thinking they were all whacked, then doing a draft last week without Haaland, could work, may not. You won't know if you don't try. Risky but kind of making the game enjoyable now instead of playing safe.

I did the same mate, my team below (just not sure who to bench!) Thinking Leno to Turner if we don't get any injuries.

Long term, thinking Darwin & Bruno >> Watkins & Saka

      Areola
      Trippier Udogie Cash
      Son Madders Salah Bruno Diaby
      Alvarez Hojlund

      Leno/Darwin/Botman/Lamptey
      2.2 ITB

For added fun...thinking of putting £5 on haaland to score 2+ goals each time City play to avoid total pain!

Never take FPL too seriously. I do need to finish this season though, at least one since 2011.

If you see me disappear by half way or so again, then you know I would have logged out.

I made a non Haaland draft last week when playing my WC. I just don't see the major upside to it other than having a really strong defense. Benching headaches galore and a lack of decent forwards to replace him. Watkins and Alvarez are imo the only other forward options. Nunez if he was nailed maybe, Hoijlund if UTD suddenly find some form (which I doubt). Good luck with it though. The leader in my ML has gone without Haaland, Salah and Son from the very start and has a OR of 225,000! No chips played either, so what do I know.

Not really. There's always equally good, just less fashionable, alternatives which barely affect the team.
      Burn instead of Botman
Digne or Coufal instead of Cash
      Jwp instead of Bowen
You just need to go onto page two of the player selection.

Not this year. As long as you keep it positive (over 100 m) then you can still cook, imo.
Haaland is 100th out of all players for ppm. You can still create a nice(r?) team after leaving the cult.

With their international schedules quite similar and both playing on Saturday, how many minutes do you think they play in GW 9:

    Darwin
    Alvarez

Both have home games so no traveling in between.

I would say with both being 'important' to their teams, both start.

Alvarez played after the last IB. Nunez and Diaz had to come on to rescue the Wolves result. Nunez also had the knee issue after the last IB.

      Variables...

      1. DARK SIDE OF THE LOON

Nunez still has an underlying issue.
Alvarez is managed by Pep who is so unpredictable.

Nunez played in the Europa, played GW8 and is on IB duty now. Think he is fine now.

Top flight Eden Hazard in PL was as exciting to watch as Henry, for me. Retirement now sad but was coming.

Pushed the WC button last night. Got to stop this unprecedented rot! Thoughts on first draft? 0.0 itb.

    Turner - Areola
    Cash - Udogie - Burn - Veltman - Taylor
    Salah - Saka - Maddison - Diaby - Nakamba
    Haaland - Alvarez - Watkins

It's interesting looking back at the inflection point of this season so far. It was GW3.

Lateriser had an absolutely insane start to the season with Maddison, Salah, template defense, Mitoma etc. But he blew it by selling Salah instead of Rashford in GW3 to fund Nick Jackson over Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Mark was bottom of the Great and the Good league but he had Salah and because of the lack of funds had to pick Alvarez over Jackson which turned out to be a master stroke. Now he's top of the Great and the Good.

It really came down to whether you held onto United assets or Salah. Keeping United mids has been a rank killer.

Spot on Camzy. I was ranked 197k after GW3 but have since been on a rotten run and now find myself at 2.9m.

My defence has actually been performing well (Guehi, Schar, Saliba, Tarkowski, Udogie) but holding onto Rashford and Fernandes to a slightly lesser extent, plus Mbeumo, has hurt. No Trippier/Salah hasn't helped either, of course.

I'm still surprisingly upbeat and pretty sure I can turn it around, it's just odd because patience with good players usually pays off for me, just not this time.

On a similar, yet worse, trajectory Tom (70k gw3, now 3.3m).
My question to you is what week do you wildcard, and how much will you let your rank determine your wildcard picks (i.e., are you going to "chase" by doing things like Trent, Moreno, no Haaland).

At least we've got plenty of time to turn it around. I got 41 pts in GW8 but know some managers who hit 80/90, so things can change very quickly, which is why there is no need to panic.

I'm probably going to WC in GW10 and target the ARS v SHU fixture, plus Brighton's fixture swing, that's where I might be able to find an edge.

Yeah, ditto, on gw10 and for mostly the same reasons.
And we're not even a quarter of the way through the season so loads of time to bounce back. Being at this rank is actually making work and friends and family leagues more competitive so that's a positive 🙂

Not to be a downer, but this season feels by far the most difficult in recent memory. Edges feel smaller and I've had a great start to be at 50K but I'm just 32 points ahead of people at 500K. I know one or two bad weeks and I'll be down there with everyone else.

There are more engaged managers than ever, EO is relevant up to the top 2m and poor chip usage is down as well. I think it could be a real struggle to finish top 100K let alone top 10K.

Again, I feel the opposite the masses all following each other and obvious the route they are taking. Plenty of opportuinity to go other routes if you are brave enough. The best season in a long time given the amount of options you can pick in your side.

Not wholly true I have had no united midifielder's since I wildcarded gw2, and since gw3 had constant (albeit small) red arrows since.

According to the 'what if' time machine tool if I kept my gw1 team and did nothing I would only be 4 points worse off to what I am now!

It sickened me team looked great even with Rashford and Dunk.
Because I had done a bench boost gw1 so had Anderson, Gabriel on bench. Would have been even better than my current team if I had started Johnstone gw1.

It was funny though the main difference is team value. my gw1 team would have been 99.1m, my current team is 103m. I have not been playing FPL but basically a share price game!

Another good example of this is my rivals with Saliba beat me out of the block as I had Gabriel. They moved for Maddison while I had to move Gabby out, delaying the transfer for a Spurs mid one week so I ended up with Son the next week.

You're going to have to get rid of Son/Maddison or Son/Bruno. Unless of course you are prepared to get rid of Haaland. My advice is to roll, Salah not worth a -4 this week with early kick-of after international break.

Of course it is a few weeks ago -

      1) Team Value did not matter
      2) Salah did not matter
      3) Haaland was a "season keeper"
      4) Trippier was not worth his price
      5) Watkins was not explosive enough for his price

Of course it is group think most who play FPL are reactive rather than proactive, unless those who they follow makes the first move. They fear looking silly.

    Want to hear something crazy?

If you picked Sterling over Maddison in GW4 and just held until now, you'd have 22 points vs Maddison's 25.

Just 3 points difference. Shows the power of the huge haul vs the steady eddy.

Yeah but the point is, just holding these kind of assets will often get you similar points over a period of time if you give them time to realize their potential.

People are biased in favor of the steady eddy because they see a steady trickle of points week on week while the explosive option might not be consistent but will end up putting up similar numbers.
