I've seen reports from a few different sites that Son wasn't just an unused substitute but actually missed the Tunisia friendly on Friday due to a groin injury. Sounded like he only trained for 2 days last week for Spurs before Luton due to the ongoing issue, and he was also only able to train from Wednesday with the SK squad. (Before anyone says "it's just a friendly", he's the SK captain and hasn't seem to have shied away from playing in these fixtures before. Even when seemingly dealing with the issue on the last IB, he went on to play 90 mins in two friendlies, including one v Saudi Arabia on the Tuesday before the PL return.)

Was thinking of selling next week but may just do it this week at this rate.

It would be brave to sell if we get no further news. He’s been playing with a niggle already. Makes sense to rest for the friendlies.

The article says he is dealing with a groin injury which I don’t think is anything we didn’t know. As such no surprise rested for friendly

Spurs will be in serious trouble if he gets a long term injury, very tricky situation for them to manage.

This isn't anything we don't already know to be fair. Son is being managed by both s
spurs and his international club . It's been like this for a while

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 1 month ago

It hasn't been like this for a while though? He played 90 mins in both friendlies in the last IB despite this being an issue given he was being subbed early for Spurs before that, and we didn't know he wasn't able for a full week of training either until the last week when Postecoglu mentioned it, but even then he didn't make any suggestion that it wasn't anything other than a one-off. He's actually missed a game now because of it.

Also Klinsmann didn't suggest Son was going to get rested, he actually said this:

"It's natural for European players to feel fatigued. It will be difficult to adjust to the time difference. Son Heung-min will be less tired. There’s no European competition."

Yes, he is getting subbed as a result after 75 mins anyhow, that 20-25 mins per game.

I was hoping he'd score a hattrick (could have done), in the first half before the second half saw them down to 10 men.

I dont like Captain Early KO,s again, but on paper Salah looks like the one.

Are you bringing in Martinelli/Trippier or Saka/A N another defender if you had a choice?

I don't really know about Trippier, I do think Palace is going to be tight so he'll likely do well but I'm not sure if he's a need. I have Saka but wouldn't mind Martinelli too, also have Mitoma and Bowen on the watchlist

It's a shame that Saka has his own injury doubts, not to mention the clearly worse fixture and the possible impending price drop. I would prefer to wait. Thankfully I have the depth to allow it.

    A) Son and Palmer

think this could impact TAA as well, Tsmikas will be given gametime to prove himself but is naturally a bit more attacking. TAA will only invert now into RCDM or RCB, will probably be told to hang back a bit even more now and just play the quarterback role

Gomez might still cover if they need a bit better defensive cover on the left. Tsimikas played well going forward on Friday, peach of an assust for first Greek goal, but looked dodgy defensively when Ogbene ran at him.

Luckily we got rid of the two Texas cowboys which were ruining LFC years ago, plus Benitez.

Effective Ownership ... do engaged or successful managers take it into consideration ?

Saw a discussion on Black Box that basically went along the lines that no decent or engaged player would consider it in selecting their team ...

Is it really as clear cut as that ? Any views on this ?

It all depends on what you’re playing for and what position you’re in. It only applies to those playing for rank. If you’ve started well you can use it as a means of consolidating your position. If you’re chasing you can use it to pick differentials to catch up.
To say no serious player would use it is quite frankly silly.

So, the big question is how much a WC is worth:

    a) save WC and take a -8 to get the team I want in week 10, using a prep transfer this week

    c) WC this GW

There is a lot of decent fixtures this week (Wissa and Mbeumo vs Burnley for example). You might also be able to hold Estu till fit and Brighton have a great run of fixtures.
      I'd either
      1) Roll and do Mbeumo and Wissa to Wakins and whoever you can afford (Prob Neto or Gordon or even Luiz in case Villa get a penalty!) next week
      2) Free some money up from Ederson down to Johnstone or Areola and use that to upgrade Wissa to Watkins next week.

I have never lost so much on one Player (eze (Didnt see him drop after I took a week of, i thought he'd be locked?)

It is going to be Eze to Gordon

    Team ATM.

    Turner (Johnstone)
    Saliba, Porro Cash (Kabore, Gisto)
Salah (C), Son, Maddison, Gordon, Diaby
    Alvarez, Haaland, (Pedro)

Am happy to keep Johnstone ATM,

Done two -4 hits in a row to get this team, but missing out on trippier all of a sudden assisting again therefore getting bonus points, or woth a WC to sort out the team structure. (Will wait and see if Gusto plays or James at RB or CB)

I thought the Ireland - All Blacks match was going to the be the best of the tournament, but this one looks like it'll surpass it. What a game!!!

Perfect timing to have the RWC quarters in the middle of a tedious IB.

Don't usualy watch rugby but got the France v SA match on.

Wish football players respected the referee more like the rugby players. That SA number 4 who got YC went off no moaning.

Also why can't we hear decision making like with TMO with VAR?

Watching Norway v Spain. I could have gone for a bath in the length of time its taken VAR to adjudicate whether Spain have scored...

Would need a culture change from kids to adults to senior full time professionals. Captain should be the only player talking to the ref. You learn that as a kid playing rugby, referees don't take any nonsense from players.

The rugby TMOs know what they're doing, their role is clearly defined , unambiguous rules and usually consistently applied. Not so with VAR.

There is very clear communication between the TMO and referees. It's astonishing that VAR hasn't simply followed already well tested and defined protocols from rugby when establishing their procedures.

I have a bit if a 2023 conspiracy theory! When VAR continues to go wrong it creates a whole lot of clickbait which is sauce for some. I've half convinced myself that's why they won't fix it!

The use of VAR is terrible. Rules remain open to subjectivity. Communication is poor and those watching are left to occupy themselves for what feels like hours without any clear indication as to why.

But mostly, its that those operating VAR are simply incompetent. As a ref, you could actually phone a group of guys sitting in a pub in Bellshill watching the game on a 14" portable tv and get a more correct and quicker outcome than the nonsense we are slowly having to tolerate.

Yeah I don't understand this. Is that arrogance from heads of football? Would rather have their 'own system' than copy rugby

It baffles me how officials are treated in soccer. Would just be unthinkable in any other football code for an entire team to swarm around a referee.

The easiest way to stop it would be make some examples of players with long bans. It’s remarkable how quickly professional athletes can change their behaviour with the appropriate stick.

        I agree.

And blame Alex Ferguson, Diego Maradonna, the Masons, Pablo Escobar, Paul Allcock and Antonio Rattin for legitimising abuse towards them.

Spain's goal stands. Norway need to pull out the stops in the second half or Scotland qualify for the Euro Finals. C'mon Spain!!!
