Is this the best set of RWC QF ever?

Yes but only because the draw was fundamentally flawed. Criminal that Ireland and SA/France wont be in semis and Argentina and England are.

Paris has seen 2 of the best RWC games ever this weekend tho and your point stands tall.

How can the draw be flawed? You think it should have been specifically engineered to ensure those others got through?

The seedings were made based on world rankings in December 2020, which do not reflect the current relative strengths of the top teams. I don't know why that decision was made.

Two thoughts on that. Firstly it has opened the World Cup up to other sides who wouldn’t have got a look in otherwise. Fiji in the 1/4’s and Arg in the semis is great for the game IMO. Secondly, if you want to be the best in the world you have to be prepared to beat everyone and anyone. It is what it is.

I don't disagree with any of that, just seems like a strange thing for the organisers to do. Good for those plucky underdogs England.

Very good. There’s a fighter chance in there for them now. A red card here, a dodgy ref there and a final might be on the cards!

"I would rather have a general who was lucky than one who was good" as an actually pretty average height for his era Corsican man once supposedly said.

Going to struggle to win the group now, but after 23 years of famine, he and the players should be commended. What a campaign. Lucked out at times but as the saying goes, the harder you work, the luckier you get.

Mad. Could have been Ireland, Wales, England and France.

Got to say that its fully deserved tho. You can only play the teams you come up against. Gotta be a NZ v RSA final surely?

I like my team. Gonna roll a transfer. But any ideas on what to do over the next couple of weeks to get more Arsenal, Villa or West Ham? Udogie to Gabriel?

    Areola / (Leno)
    Cash / Trippier / Porro/ (Digne) / (Udogie)
    Salah / Saka / Maddison / Diaby / (Gordon)
    Haaland / Alvarez / (Archer)

Gordon > Soucek should see you do well. And Gabriel seems to be a now naildish cheap option into the Arsenal defence. I would not want double Villa defence at any time so perhaps Leaky Dingy to Gabba Gabba Doooooo!

Surely best to bench Andersen against Newcastle?

        1. Sheffield Wednesday

Palace and Newcastle last two league encounters finished 0-0.
Palace have conceded fewer goals than Newcastle and Villa this season.
Andersen has 51 pts, Cash 36pts and Burn 30pts.

Something to ponder, but yes Andersen is currently on my bench.

I generally look at the clean sheet odds, and then factor in attacking prospects. I could see it being 0-0, leaning more likely Newcastle dont concede. I cant see Andersen getting as far forward as he has in other games purely because Palace's best prospect of points is to keep the game nil nil as long as possible.

I can't bench Cash at the moment whilst hes effectively playing as a RW, which means I have Cash and Burn JUST, inches, ahead of Andersen.

WC draft and purely drafted as an entertaining and fun team

    Areola-Turner
    Cash - Gabriel - Andersen - Tsimikas - Taylor
    Maddison - Saka - Salah - Neto - Chukwuemeka
    Haaland - Darwin - Watkins

If you wanted entertaining and fun how come you’ve effectively bought the template? There’s no an outside pick amongst them.

        What !!!!

I Haven´t seen anyone with the front three of
Darwin-Haaland-Watkins let alone haven´t seen many playing with 3-4-3- so I really did thought this was a bit different.

The other team I was really looking to have was like this :

Areola - Raya ( have great combination )
        Porro-Trippier-Cash-White-Anderson
        Maddison-Son-Luiz-Salah-McTominay
        Darwin-Watkins-Isak

    First WC draft:
    Turner / Areloa
TAA / Digne / Van De Ven / Lewis / Gusto
    Maddison / Salah / Bowen / Ode / Palmer
    Haaland / Alvarez / Archer

I’m set on TAA as a differential and think Ode will only be a few shy of Saka come the end of the season.
