    Best longer term pick?

    A) Guehi
    B) Coufal

Have Areola, if it helps. Would be rotating with Burn, Cash & Gabriel.

Now that we see such extensive injury time periods, shouldn't the "minutes played" reflect ACTUAL minutes played?

Some players will make it to the 59th minute having played 13minutes of injury time in the first half, but don't get the extra appearance/clean sheet points.

Similar to a player who come on in the first half at around 40minutes - they are very likely to play 60mins by the final whistle.

It can't be that hard to track, when you consider the amount of stats the opta are tracking for every single player.

I think it might be a bit difficult to nail down precisely but don't disagree. Only reasoning I can see against it is that in the cases of very large amounts of time added on (like your example), they'll normally be because of injuries or other issues that can't be controlled and I'd say the powers that be would simply argue that in that instance, a match is only being "played" for 45 minutes a half

I don't know but I'd imagine FPL powers that be originally designed it to be that you played two thirds of the game, if we're getting pedantic about it then playing 60 isn't even two thirds now and we'll get into all sorts of niggly bits for the sake of the odd appearance point and rarely over a cleanie. Keep it as is imo its just a game.

"For those interested, Son just had a slight bump in the thigh hence why he limped off at halftime.

Press asked: Were you okay to complete 90 minutes?

    His answers summarized:

    • Playing 90 minutes is not easy always for all players (generally speaking about pro football).

    • In the first half I bumped my thigh, but its not a issue.

    • It was good to get 90 minutes in and will help me a lot.

    • Now it will be important for me to return to Spurs and maintain my good condition..."

        Definitely!

If all things were equal, who would you sell for Saka?

        Son or Maddison?

I'm gonna wait until GW12 I think, especially as Saka hasn't exactly been trouble-free to own either lol

Trying to convince myself it's Son out for Saka.

Undeniably more explosive but how do you predict those and will you catch them with captaincy?

          Plus seemingly the managed minutes.

Maddison will tick along, will likely get the odd double digits, and has the much kinder price.

Also ready to throw that thinking out the window.

            That last line 😆

I need to see more from Saka tbh.

I'm not comfortable having a penalty taker that's giving them away when he feels like it, and he hasn't been without fitness issues either...

All things equal, it's definitely tougher. A fully fit Son would be hard to drop so I'd reluctantly probably say Maddison, solely because Son has shown he's capable of huge hauls and as nearly all of the creative burden centrally falls to Maddison, meaning in some games / periods he has to drop deeper to orchestrate

    2. Wobbles

Another problem with Son is that I bought him at 9 mil. Selling and getting him back again could be problematic funds wise.

    Turner
    Udogie Digne Andersen
    Saka Salah Son Maddison Diaby
    Haaland Alvarez
    (Leno Colwill Kabore Osula)

2FT (0.1itb), at the minute I'm looking at the following options for this week:

    A) Leno to Areola
    B) Son to Mitoma
    C) Son to Bowen/Martinelli/Foden

Losing Son before Fulham looks bad on paper, but given Mentaculus' analysis of Fulham's performances v top 6 sides with Palhinha in the squad and Son's constant injury worries and early subs, I think I'm resigned to lose him, certainly for now at least. My major qualm with selling is GW12+13 v Wolves and Villa which are great fixtures for him.

Think my slight preference is C for Bowen (although 3 week punt on Foden is mighty tempting) but any of C locks me out of Osula to Nunez next week. Mitoma doesn't however, if I do A this/next week alongside it.

Did you particularly want a strong front 8 from next week? Is this to cover expected occasional rotation for Mitoma / Darwin, or the Saka situation? Another option might be to go for all 3 moves (i.e. Leno, Son & Osula - Areola, Mitoma & Darwin) for -4 if Saka is out?

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years

It's not anything I necessarily planned I just know I want Nunez. Saka I am a bit worried about given it was a hamstring issue, but tbh if reports came out he'd be back next week I'd probably still want to keep. I don't mind someone like Palmer for a cheaper mid option but it's hard to drop any of those I have including Son, especially with the value in mids currently. But maybe I ought to rethink getting an 8th attacker

          • 4 Years

I mean it looks really strong, its just that spreading your funds across 8 attackers over 6.5m will reduce your flexibility to bring Son back if you wanted to do that in a few weeks. A lot of future permutations to consider at the moment... I haven't really quite resolved how I want to balance Salah, Son, Maddi, Saka/Martinelli yet myself

Good points. Maybe I'm just best to see what the deal with Son is first and if doubtful I may just go with Bowen/Martinelli/Foden and reassess next week. My defence is likely more of a priority so maybe that and upgrading Colwill/Kabore makes more sense. I just really wanted Nunez 😛 . Cheers

Although now that I look at it again I could bench Maddison GW10 (away to Palace) and Saka GW11 (away to Newcastle) / Diaby GW11 (away to Forest) so maybe short-term it might work, but it's pretty short term. Although 2FTs after that could move me back to Son potentially

It's not impossible, I'm playing quite a relaxed game. I am playing that I cannot transfer any player owned by more than 20% into my team, and on my WC I'll transfer out a lot of my players that have become template.

So my WC team will probably not be the best, but it'll be different. I feel fine with the fixtures of my starting 11, but obviously fitness is an issue. So right now I don't mind making one transfer just to have a full starting 11.

Ah ok, so are you actively looking to get rid of players with more than 20% ownership too? Or would you try and get a player in before they become 20% owned similar to beating a price rise?

It's a bit of both. I'll probably transfer Son (who I got at 16/17%), Watkins, and Saka (both of whom I started with). I don't mind jumping on bandwagons early but as the weeks have gone by my team has gotten more and more template (boring!).

My main difficulty will be trying to use all the cash I have, since all the expensive assets are highly owned. That's why I'm considering the likes of TAA and VVD for defense.

Team A and bench starting for me without Haaland. I am leaning towards capping Son.

    Turner
    Trippier White Porro
    Salah Son Saka Bowen
    Watkins Nunez Alvarez

    Areola Gordon Cash Tarkowski
    1.0m ITB

Tarkowski will become another 4.5 defender or Estupinan.

If I had to bring back Haaland, Team B. I won't be changing my midfield and also would prefer to keep Trippier.

    Turner
    Trippier Porro Cash
    Salah Saka Son Bowen Gordon
    Haaland Alvarez

    Areola Archer 4.0 4.0
    0.0 ITB

Variables come down to owning Watkins and Nunez or two other strikers in the same price brackets vs Haaland so 2 vs 1. Team A much stronger bench to cope with flagged players and auto subs are good as well. Team A I can play pretty much any formation. I can also rotate my defence with team A playing the best fixtures. Team A also still has all the best cap options bar Haaland which will be the most important thing going without Haaland, and that is captaincy. Team B I will have to start Gordon each week, the same defence each week plus bench is sh*te. I would not want to get rid of Trippier either to have a slightly better bench with team B.

Really is not difficult if I am left with no choice to bring back Haaland. 2 FT's and a -8. At the end of the day this is all but a game and for me it was just time to see what happens without Haaland while both him and City have had a dip in form, upcoming tricky fixtures and generally to make the game more interesting and to have some fun. My rank was sh*te with Haaland (owning Saka, Son and Salah) and I am sure many on here are in the same situation. Owning Haaland and capping him does not do much for your rank when he hauls because everyone gets his points. If he blanks and the rest of your team has a miff GW which has happened many times not just to me but to many others, your rank could be in major trouble if you picked the wrong cap to go against Haaland. I capped him 6 times this season and the rank is shite. Not owning him, the only way he destroys you is if your cap blanks and majority of your players blank. Looking at the bigger picture, it is pretty much 50/50 at this point. Mo cappers were the winners GW8. You just pick your poison tbh.

Which team do you prefer out of A and B taking all variables into consideration?

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years

Think if you've gotten rid of Haaland it's best to commit to it for a period at least, no point in rushing to get him back just because of one haul this or next week. Your second team is way too inflexible if keeping Trippier

Yes, I have to stick with it for now but let's just look at it as those going no Haaland being the "guinea pigs" 😆 for anyone else who may either go or not go the same route after GW9 😆

And re Trippier, this guy was destroying my rank with every point he scored and Haaland, Salah, Saka, Alvarez plus Son could not save my rank.

It is all team dependant and who you capped. Lots of ranks are coming down to who you capped each GW. If (and it is an if) you did not cap Haaland majority of the GW's, who is to say your rank will be worse or better?

Some weeks you win, some weeks you lose. In your case, not capping him much, your rank is pretty damn good.

Anyway, this was my last few cents about Haaland vs zero Haaland but just wanted to state my final case of why going no Haaland may work for my team.

Many other no Haaland teams could do better than mine. Mine could do better than theirs. If I kept my same Haaland team, I probably would either be gaining small green arrows or seeing my rank tank further because owning him, you always have doubts about going against his captaincy but everyone still gets his points.

I think best case scenario is for Haaland to drop down to 50% ownership for him to become "fully effective".

      Thoughts on this?

No Haaland could also be a major fail as it all depends on how you have set up your team, it is team dependant.

Is there any substance behind this cliche? Surely if Haaland hauls you lose; if he blanks, you win. Nothing to do with the rest of your team.

No, it is team dependant. I have all the cap options I need plus Trippier plus a solid bench. I do not have to stare at a bench which is filled with trash or flagged anymore.

Maybe take the time to read and understand what I am typing.

I am not taking a dig at anyone, neither am I telling anyone to go without Haaland because it is about my team, not yours.

I'm not gonna do that - you post the same thing thousands of times. I have Haaland, other cap options, Trippier and a decent bench. Key difference is Haaland.

And for future reference, or just for just, in general I do not have a problem with majority of people on here.

The thing is, sometimes it just feels like someone wants to storm in like a poodle on heat yapping at ones ankles.

Unless it was a lion running at me and I knew I was going to be that lions meal, then I would sh*te myself.

Luckily, nobody gets to tell me what to say and wat to do but seeing that I have no lions to deal with, and in general I get along with many on here and don't mine constructive criticism, poodles yapping can yap all they want.

Just remember, you are going against a player which is owned by the entire game so if your zero Haaland team has a really bad week, you are fecked.

Same scenario like GW8, if Haaland blanks and your Haaland team has a bad GW, your rank is toast.

        Pick your poison 🙂

    First WC draft:
    Turner / Areloa
TAA / Digne / Van De Ven / Lewis / Gusto
    Maddison / Salah / Bowen / Ode / Palmer
    Haaland / Alvarez / Archer

I’m set on TAA as a differential and think Ode will only be a few shy of Saka come the end of the season.

We should get team leaks as it is the early kick off so you can wait before doing anything. LFC playing at home so no travels in between this time round compared to Wolves plus Darwin had the knee issue after returning from the last IB which has had an effect on his starts. He is fine now though. If Darwin starts, I would suggest going him unless you have no Arsenal attack and no Salah.

I think it will depend greatly on Gakpos fitness. Diaz also returning from South America so if Gakpo is out then I could see Jota on the wing and Nunez starting. If they return today surely they'd have enough time to recover for Saturday? Rest tomorrow and train on Friday?

I'm going to play my WC in gw10 so this week I have 1FT for a one week punt. Have £0.2itb. Thoughts on the best player to bring in?

    Neto

    Trippier - Cash - Botman

    Salah - Saka - Maddison - Doku - Mbuemo

    Haaland - Alvarez

    (Turner - Gusto - Beyer - McAtee)

A, Brighton defence can hammer anyone. Get rid of Morris with an FT. You can bring in Foster for 0.5 less plus downgrade Walker and have cash for upgrades. Laterally nobody is going City defence on WC.

Hoping Nunez starts GW9 because when he does start, he usually is in the points. If he does not start he can still haul as a sub. Going to have to deal with his minutes but that is the case with many assets at the moment.

I'm starting him whether he is benched or not. As you say, he could easily post some returns from the bench. Also did well with Uruguay which I'm sure Klopp will have noticed. Diaz on the other hand, had a rough time with Colombia, missed a pen and was shattered looking at the end of the match. Fingers crossed.

Nunez dismantled Brazil last night and had a G+A to show for it.

Apparently that was Brazil's first defeat in WC qualifiers in 37 games and Uruguay hadn't beaten them for 22 years.

Already has one of the best mins per goal and has fixtures of EVE, NFO, lut, BRE.
