Deliberated over my moves for gw10 and ultimately decided I didn't want to lose Son to get Saka. Nor Maddy to get Marty.
16 point so far and if those arsenal boys get 20 or less I'll call that a win.

I had to ship Son for Salah
      Salah(C)-Maddison-Saka-DLuiz-(JWP)
      Haaland(VC)-Alvarez-Watkins

Do you judge transfers on a single gameweek ?

But yes, holding off has probably worked out for you.

However, you could have planned better to use a single transfer to sell another player rather than Son or Maddison to get Saka or Martinelli 😉

True, particularly as I used my wc last week...

Frankly though, you just can't fit all of Salah Son Saka Haaland Watkins Trippier in, certainly not with my TV. Saka was the one I chose to go without. WC9 worked great but there's a huge GW10 Sheff-Utd-at-home shaped elephant in the room with Saka that I'm dreading, so consecutive dub figs for Son really helps in that regard.

Was also planning Madd to Mart this week but the Jesus news made me second guess it. That will probably end up a mistake anyway.

My compromise is no Salah and captaining Haaland ... but with the Salah funds spread the points from Son, Maddison, Saka, Bruno (he is my cash cow and the upside chase position for transfer each week based upon fixtures) Watkins, Alvarez, Haaland, Trippier, Cash, Tsimi etc I hope I have Salah points covered

Good luck and we can't have them all 🙂

Trippier, Cash, Gabriel, Andersen/Guehi, Colwill/Disasi/Gusto and the cheaper Newcastle defs make it that bit harder to justify Estupinan now, especially with Brighton's defensive numbers

Would be even worse for Estupinan as an asset if Lamptey at 4.0 claims the currently unstable RB slot when he's also back

        1. NATSTER
          • 15 Years
          2 years, 1 month ago

With the injuries and resources they have, I think Estu will be back as soon as he's ready.
He is their best LB. The Lamptey issue should not impact him, but the interim Milner.

Anyway, I do agree with you on the issue of Brighton's defence. It's not impressive at all.
They are top on the next 6 fixtures and that's the only reason that I look at him as option.

European's commitment will also affect more in November and busy December too.

            • 7 Years

Oh sorry, I meant it this way: IF (big if) Lamptey starts regularly at RB while Estupinan is at LB, the 5m needed for Estupinan will look even more steep when he's compared with other assets at around the same price now

So you could rotate Lamptey in for their easier fixtures without having to spend the extra 1m on Estupinan. Lamptey's not as good at getting attacking returns though

I see. Agree that a nailed on 4.0 Lamptey will be great add to the squad. Will keep eyes on his condition and Brighton. Thank you for clarifying and ideas. 🙂

    Burn - Cash - Trippier
    Diaby - Maddison - Salah - Son - Palmer
    Haaland - Watkins

    A) Maddison + Burn > Saka + 4.0m DEF (Branthwaite/Taylor)

Apologies hit post too soon there:

      B) Diaby + Trippier > Saka + 4.8 DEF (Tsimikas and bank some cash)

      C) something else

Yeah this is the dilemma, like I really love having Trips. Scoping down to a 4.0m DEF isn’t so bad along with Kabore.
Maybe by then i’ml have some help and my mind made up for me.

Diaby I disagree, and has been unfortunate, just feel like he could go next as the points just ain’t flowing, will give him these next couple games anyway, he could even become Mitoma.

For sure, and someone else could go for Saka perhaps, would still have ti be Trippier though for creating the funds.
Like I say the decision could be made easier by then anyway hehe.

Sell Salah and you can have all of Haaland Watkins Alvarez Son Maddison Saka Trippier etc.

  7. nerd_is_the_werd
    • 6 Years
    2 years, 1 month ago

    Areola
    Trippier Tsimikas Alexander-Arnold
Mitoma Salah (c) Saka Maddison Son
    Watkins Alvarez

    Turner Pau Porro Archer

    2FT, 0.1 ITB

    ---------------------

Probably one of the first time I don't know what the next move should be.
I would obviously love to get Haaland in for BOU (h), but it would take at least a hit (-4), and requires either Watkins or Alvarez to be sacrificed.
    How to improve this team?

      You don't need haaland

Great attack although I prefer bowen in there somewhere.
TAA not worth money so would downgrade him to upgrade mitoma to bowen

Hard to predict Brighton starting 11 every match & de zebri always says he'll rotate.

This. Lot of money for not much return so far.
20 players under 5mil have scored more than him this season.

I brought him in on WC in GW9.
He was priced at 8.0m for a reason, plays for a title-contender, and was consistently one of the highest scoring defenders and players in previous seasons.

CSs are likely, and takes set-pieces as well as free-kicks.
It's like having 2 Trippers in the team.

He's just come back from an injury, so would not score much so far.

I have that feeling too (which is why I capped Watkins instead). BUT, you just never know with him. If he can get 16 pts on a bad day, it’s hard to ignore.

    2. Scalper

      Overthinking.

He scored Vs Toulouse and celebrated.

I captained Saka btw. Salah Owner as well.

I also don’t think he’ll do that well Vs forest, but then again, bar that falsely ruled offside goal Vs Spurs, he’s returned in every game.

I'd planned to make the move for Guehi after post-match presser quotes were out, but I slept off. Woke up 10 minutes after the price changes and my heart was in my mouth as I checked the carnage for the names "Guehi" and "Udogie", knowing I may have just missed a price swing that could affect getting Trippier back later... And then, relief 🙂

It is a game after all! I know at times it can be hard to detach though. I've had occasions over the years where I've really gotten in too deep with FPL and had it dictate my moods in worse periods where I needed/wanted something else to focus on or keep me occupied. Thankfully I'm not there now and haven't been for a while and hope it stays that way but I know it can be difficult in circumstances that aren't ideal

Yeah. I'm really focused on mental health (was my research topic in med school even though I'm not practicing after graduating as a doc), so I try to at least have a positive impact when others scroll through here and read my comments/replies, yet also learn when to detach if things go badly and I know it's about to sting

    Ayew finishes on 12 BPS.
Midfielder gets +18 BPS per goal, so prior to scoring he had -6 BPS.
Was he really that bad? :p

Looks like 5 different captains from GW10 to GW14:

    GW10: Watkins vs LUT
    GW11: Haaland vs BOU
    GW12: Saka vs BUR
    GW13: Son vs AVL
    GW14: Salah vs FUL

I don't think I've ever had five genuine captaincy contenders (not punts or differential captains due to a single outstanding fixture) in this game

When Haaland has Bou, Salah has Luton
When Salah has Ful, Saka has Wol home

Why not go with just one of H/S and have Madds, Tripps..maybe even second Ars mid.

Prefer those I have precisely because I can cap them

Getting Trippier back in GW15. Second Arsenal mid not needed here:

        Leno
        Coufal Guehi Cash
        Son Salah Saka JWP
        Haaland Alvarez Watkins
        .
        Areola Lamptey Palmer Gabriel

0.2m ITB after Udogie to Guehi as my GW11 FT

I think Haaland at home will get more chances vs Bournemouth's backup GK than Salah away to Luton, so that's why I'm probably going Haaland. Both are strong captains, sure. Just backing Haaland more due to factors like being at home and Neto (GK) being out for that game

Fulham is a significantly worse defence than Wolves imo, especially against the big guns. Any player facing Wolves won't even be my VC. More likely to VC Watkins vs Bournemouth in GW14, or consider capping him over Salah

Definitely losing Leno soon, yeah. Seems his superhero cape from early in the season has fallen off. Served me well

But now I'm going Leno to Turner in GW13 or so - hopefully as one of 2 unneeded FTs - to slowly raise money for Trippier in GW15. The plan is to downgrade JWP to McAtee right as Palmer starts facing weaker defences (GW14 vs Brighton) and then use those funds for Cash (vs City) to Trippier (vs Everton)

Nothing else to touch in that squad any time soon, so fingers crossed that I don't get more flags X_X

I've been on Leno and Areola since WC in GW4. Quite happy with both as they dovetail with each other nicely going into the 2nd half of the season and don't have to worry about my keepers. It's nice to not have to worry about keeper transfers. And to think I started the season with Pickford and Turned!

That said I've just recently sold Haaland and have a high TV so don't have to worry about money

Yuuuuup. But there's a slight chance that Poch will let him keep taking 'em if he keeps scoring 'em

Nkunku's return will also hopefully break up the holy trinity up top atm. Maybe Watkins or Alvarez to Nkunku will be popular at some point

Loved the lad in UCL fantasy. Eager to have him here, especially if Chelsea's already playing well before he returns

    3rd benchie klaxon alert!
Botman and Udogie miss out for me this GW, bringing 4m Branthwaite into play.

I couldn't. I need Coufal to play (bought for GW9) or I'm down to 10 men, with Lamptey brought in a week before he got injured

I've taken it on the chin as a likely 0-pointer (instead of another hit) and I'll probably just go Udogie to Guehi for free after today's games pan out

I did say before the Palace game that Son playing up front is the best FPL asset in the game. Top FPL scorer now so justifies my opinion. His finishing is even more clinical than Haaland and Salah. If he's on pens, then that would be a bonus but even without, he's undroppable against anybody, while playing up front. Does well against any opponent and actually thrives against better opposition.

      He's having an Aguero season

      ...as a midfielder

Should end up in top 3, if not ahead of both super-premiums. Reminds me of the Salah - Haaland - Kane trinity last season

    2. Captain Berbarossa - arrrrr…
      • 15 Years

Don't forget, he's 3.2M cheaper than Salah and 4.4M cheaper than Haaland. Feel like he's going to have similar points totals to those two at the end of the season, as long as he stays fit and is playing up front. Think his bad last season have skewed people's thoughts on him but remember he was injured and playing through pain most of last season and still got 10 goals. Season before that he was golden boot, without having pens, and not playing as the outright 9 and he was 12M player last season and worth that if he wasn't injured.

Captained Son in GW8 so still a bit tender about that.

There is not much choice for forwards after Haaland Watkins & Alvarez irrespective of value, so it makes sense to get all three even at Haaland'a price.

But in midfield there is a huge choice taking into consideration value and I can see all of Madds Son & Saka matching or nearly matching Salah.

So the question is ... do we even need Salah if there are such good options in midfield and Son matches him ? ... and we can easily get all of ...

      Haaland Watkins Alvarez
      Saka Son Maddison
      Trippier

.... and fill in around that

That Palace goal was wild for points. Lost in clean sheet, but gained in baps once the Spurs backline conceded. Looked like 1, 2 and 3 were all going to defenders/keeper until then.

Pure luck for me, had Maddison (subbed before he could lose the clean sheet point), Son (from 8 to 10pts due to the change) and Andersen coming in for Udogie with 3pts instead of 0/1. Good few rivals with Porro or Romero, the latter was outscoring Son and the former 1pt behind I think if that goal didn't happen

I have the exact same back line and am also considering Burn to Tsimikas. Missing out on the CL game this week is putting me off of him a bit. I can absorb another price increase (Burn raised in price last night) to wait and see how he used this weekend, though that extra .1 would sure be nice.

At 5.0, Dunk and Estu (back soon) are available for the good run of fixtures for Brighton.

Zero CS so far, but the CS + attacking points may come with the better fixtures.

Risky though. I just put them on as options.

But you wouldn't have just burned one of your 2FT knowing that Botman was unavailable and Udogie a risk. So following Valar's example below of Tsmikas Gordon and Haaland vs your new three is a better comparison.

Considering you could have not taken a hit and just used your free transfer for Botman to Tsimikas.. it's actually

      Tsimi + Gordon + Haaland

      Vs

      Trippier + Salah + Saka (-4/-8)

      So that could easily backfire

Looking ahead at the fixtures in GW12 it seems like every team that has a great fixture this gameweek also has a good one in GW12 with Palace and Utd also having more kinder fixtures then as well. So if the team is fairly set this week, then GW12 should be an easy roll of the transfer with an international break following straight after.

So I'm inclined to make a move for GW11. Very early thoughts here, but assuming no injuries or suspensions, what's the best move to make?

    A - Gordon ➡ Mitoma
    B - Gordon : arrow: Bowen
    C - Udogie : arrow: Gabriel
    D - Archer ➡ Darwin

    Areola
    Cash Andersen TAA
    Salah Son Saka Maddison Gordon
    Alvarez Watkins

Leno, Udogie, Archer, Burn, 1FT, 2.9itb

Don't particularly like the NEW v ARS fixture next week so it puts me off Gabriel. Have exact funds to do the Darwin move, but leaning towards bringing Bowen in for Gordon as that leaves me with more flexibility to do other moves later.

    Thoughts?
