    2500 Points Any Season
    Code zzpxga

    Starts week 13.

Have you joined the 2500 club yet? Plenty of qualifying managers signed up already.
Just need one season of 2500+ points to join. Non qualifiers can always join next season of course by achieving the qualifying score in 23/24.

    Thank you.

Ah go on then! Managed it once in 21/22 - though doubt I will trouble the scorers this season.

I do qualify for this, but I'm a little hesitant to join as you seem to be the Administrator on many leagues and are continually setting new ones up. Is there an ulterior motive here?

      1. Charlie Price

        2 years, 20 days ago

No need to be suspicious mate. The other two leagues that I administer are totally different in nature from this one & will not operate next season. Not enough hours in the day etc!! The 2500 Points Any Season league will be around in future years hopefully and be the only league I administer. No ulterior motives whatsoever. Just trying to provide the community with some entertainment. Please join if you qualify.

I'm curious what ulterior.motives there could be? As far as i know any league admin/creator would only get a team name and manager name from the entries.

Thank you for your comments. I did feel my integrity was being questioned somewhat when it was suggested I might have ulterior motives. No idea what those motives might be at all.

I just enjoy creating Mini Leagues for the enjoyment of the fantasy football community.

Fun perhaps but not many qualifying. There are plenty on here telling me I have set the bar too high as it is & wanted me to lower it!

So who got 2650 in 2021/22 then?
2500 may be a low bar for 2021/22, but it's a high bar for most seasons before 2020/21 - and in some seasons no-one scored 2500+.

About 75 managers already in so going ahead with it as titled. Would be too complicated to do otherwise.

Great to have you in the league my friend. You have boosted the prestige of this league considerably. You have also bucked the trend by qualifying with a score achieved outside of the last three seasons.

A warm welcome to the 2500 points Any Season league to Jon Reeson who was World No.1 way back in 2009/10 season with a score of 2668 points! Must have been a few qualifiers that season?

Thank you for the welcome. A high scoring season yes, definitely for me! (I got 1599 the next season) 2668 was the highest score for 9 years. Good luck with the mini-league I look forward to following it

Had to check my history. Wow how the points can be different per season, in 16/17 i got 2450 points and was 130 in the world, In 21/22 2683 points only was enough for nr 1867

      1. Charlie Price

The points trend has been very much upwards in recent years so naturally most qualifiers for this league have done so by virtue of performances since 2020/21.

"Saka has just 3 shots on target in the last 5 GWs

    2 SoT vs BOU
    0 SoT vs CHE
    0 SoT vs SHU
    0 SoT vs NEW
    1 SoT vs BUR"

He's a season keeper though.... if it wasn't for those fixtures coming up, he'd be an easy sell for me.

Thing is though there's two valid reasons for this underperformance: the obvious fitness issues, and the lack of Jesus. I sold him back around GW7/8 I think and am still keeping a wary distance but wouldn't write him off entirely. The fixtures are there - not just the next 2 but Villa & Brighton should be high scoring too - so he's still in the reckoning for me if he (and Jesus) can get properly fit

      1. JBG
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 20 days ago

Yeah I agree with your reasoning, but am also afraid that these fitness issues he's had so far, will only continue. At least it seems so. I'm giving him the next few GWs.

Øde not playing behind him now is another possible factor. I actually believe Øde to be bigger factor than Jesus. But that's based on my eye-test only. Saka is one of first names on my watchlist, but I can't fit him in now. Son, Trippier and Watkins need to be monitored, but I don't feel like sacrificing any of them.

I am not sure what to do, but i didn't think Flekken was that good either.

If he is fresh I may keep him until GW16 for Bowen, or sell to Bowen now

But i think overall saka's next three are better than Bowen's 3

I actually thought about moving on him early. Chelsea have been playing slightly better and James can return in any fixture + I need to move 1 or 2 defenders. I may move for him next week with 2ft and move early for the Brighton fixture and hold until he gets hurt.

What's peoples views on the upcoming chaotic fixture list?

For example how may bench players will you have?
Are you planning on downgrading a couple of higher priced players to bolster your overall squad?
Are your transfers from here on in just guaranteed starters?

I have 7 attackers (Palmer included) + Nakamba and my current defenders are Tripp, Cash, Andersen, Gabtiel + Tsimi. Nakamba usually last on my bench. Turner is my 2nd gk after Areola. Alvarez sold, plan is to bench Haaland and Mbeumo on bgw.

Just the one active sub currently & will probably continue that way for 2-3 more GWs at least. I kind of like the idea of Edouard as an 8th attacker but can't really swing it in time for the best fixtures given other priorities.

Plan to buy some 90min-ers like Eze & Mbeumo, but perhaps also Reece James...

Think I might end up doing something complicated around the blank like selling Haaland (for Watkins) then getting him back via Salah/Son downgrades

Possibly, but if I haven't been able to make a move like Lamptey - Lascelles in the meantime it may be more effective to shuffle the money around my first 11. May miss Everton for Haaland to enable Watkins back for SHU/mun/BUR while keeping Son & Salah right up to GW20 (for bha/bur, where I think Salah is probably the better captaincy candidate)

LOL - barring injuries Haaland, Salah and Son are season keepers for me probably Bowen as well. My moves moving forward are so, so boring e.g. Alvarez and Archer out for Jackson and Cunha (probably) - might even do Cunha this week if we get early team news

I promise to play sensiblly now & treat Haaland with due respect, I truly do. Its just one more game... 😀

But that's a bit speculative for now anyway, will see how Son gets on

Keep Son in my opinion and downgrade Trippier or TAA or probably both. Son is paying centre forward for a team that will always attack hence season keeper for me

Trent & Watkins are gone for Haaland this week or next. Slightly concerned about Son without Maddison but I think he will do well this week & I'm not really inclined to sell

Its a real humblepie move but it must be done:
                      TAA, Martinelli, Watkins - Tsimikas/James, Eze/Mbeumo, Haaland

Thanks. Yeah I think I'll be getting Mbeumo for sure. If I made the above moves this week I'd get Eze, then do Diaby - Mbeumo next GW. Will probably end up buying both James & Tsimikas too, but maybe wait another 2-3 GW for James just to be cautious about fitness..? Or perhaps just acknowledge the window will be brief & jump in early?

                        Johnstone (Turner)
                        Saliba, Cash, Porro (Tsimikas, Kabore)
                        Salah, Son, Diaby, Saka, Adringa
                        Alvarez, Haaland (Pedro)

My problem is Brighon, so I will have to do Diaby to Eze next week, and Pedro/Son (Unless he does very well) as my sacrifice to mbeumo) and then move Saka Eze, to Palmer/Bowen

This will leave me to get Isak/ Trippier/Nkunku/James/Watkins in GW 17/18 to dead end it and WC19.

I could take a couple of hits if thing come up but I hope Darwin plays GW14/15 at least.

If Alvarez is out then i think i will go Awoinyi instead of Eze GW13, but i dont think he will

I'd wait for James, the fixtures don't scream CS, though i know that isn't the reason we get James (or Tsimkas).

I am getting Eze for 3 GW personally, and if Son isn't performing as well, then I would sell for Mbeumo, if he does well, then like many will have the Saka or Son problem.

I acnnot get Bowen this week due to the value of Brighton players i have bloating my squad.

Planning to bench Haaland, Mbeumo & one of Taylor/Lascelles.

Will spread the money to have an 8th attacker, so plan to field out 11.

With or without planning, most of us are gonna have an average week.

Everyone a starter. Bench this week is Areola, Cash, Lascelles and Archer so though the main eleven may face some rotation over next few weeks there should be a handy replacement. I don't intend to make transfers except to cover injuries (famous last words) or if players permanently lose their starting spot.

      Don't realy have a plan
      I have 2 active subs
      Turner lost his place

If some weeks im playing with 10 or 9 then so be it!

Most weeks it's 4/5 players that get majority of my points anyway so not worried about bench

Whenever I've needed my subs they have come on for 1 or 0 points & when I don't need them they gets points on my bench

    Is this worth a -4 ?

Looking at switching Alvarez to Bowen for a -4, from 343 to 452, exact money

    - get Bowen in for bur, potential captain/haul
    - another week to assess Spurs/Son vs Villa
    - another week to assess an improving Saka with good fixtures
    - 352 the way to go currently
    - reduces City blanking assets, and major reduction in Alvarez output for various reasons
    - next week can easily bring in Boomo vs LUT for an underperforming mid, which frees up funds for defence

    Areola*
    Trippier. Liveramento*. Cash*
Salah (vc). Son . Saka. Palmer
    Haaland.(C) Alvarez*. Watkins

    Turner. Gusto*. Nakamba. Beyer.

Alvarez isnt returning in the high scoring games, and seems to playing deeper against stronger opposition...

Bilva seems to taking most if his role/output....not sure if hes a good option going forward...

Not sure on captaincy, could backfire...could be worth the risk

Unless there are any unexpected postponements, the next ones will be for clashes with the EFL Cup Final in GW26, and we won't know which teams will be affected by that till after the semi-final 2nd legs on 23-24Jan.
