    Playing my wild monkey:

    Raya/Sanchez

    Saliba, Lascelles, Tsimikas, Branthwaite, Baldock

    Salah, Son, Bowen, Palmer, Mbeumo

    Watkins, Haarland, Archer

    Any feedback? Cheers

Is Bowen going to be fine? What's your plan if he isn't?

Regarding Watkins, the great fixtures are behind him and he hasn't really impressed me if that's his ceiling during a good fixture run. He now has an ascending BOU team, MCI, ARS, BRE, SHE, MUN. Only SHE(h) that's nice.

      I would honestly go Isak.

I'll check on Bowen midweek with the EL game but is expected to be fit.

Watkins - plays in an attacking team and ticking over nicely. He's getting a lot of chances.

Isak appeals now that Wilson is out so definitely a good shout.

        Cheers.

Nobody is keeping cleans. I think you're spending 0.5 too much in gk. Better either used up front or if you don't need them now, keep them in the bank for the festive period injury/rotation shitshow.

Watkins is consistent. It’s what made Kane so good even at 12.5, he wasn’t returning explosive numbers but was consistent. I think Watkins can easily return at home to City & Arsenal

Home fixtures for Villa are good even vs City and Arsenal, I wouldn't sell. But it depends on your team I guess.

Too much in the keepers. Keep Raya and get fodder for Sanchez and upgrade 4th defender. I'd have Saka over Bowen.

        Saka's stats are very concerning.

Raya and Sanchez are both under 5 mill. Not too many any cheaper and the ubers do not appeal.

No point having that much cash in keepers. Tsmi will not play all games and we need nailed players atm, so would put the money into a nailed 4th defender.

Why would you bench Raya? Sanchez is rubbish & I still don't trust Chelsea defence.

Are you sure about Bowen? I would guess he's out a bit longer still. Think you're right about Son/Saka so back yourself there.

Defence is borderline underfunded; if you can squeeze money from 2nd GK / Bowen, then maybe upgrade Branthwaite? Otherwise you might struggle for replacements when Botman returns (which seems kind of a mystery)

            Raya will start most games.

There’s no returns from defenders this year as can are down due to longer injury time.

The defense is way too weak. Once Botman/Robbo are back you'll be in trouble.

Save on GK, save on Saliba (go to Gabriel) and put that money into Branthwaite upgrade to someone more reliable like a Maguire, Pau type of player and cash ITB to upgrade Lascelles/Tsimikas when the time comes.

I'd also probably gamble Darwin or Isak if on WC over Watkins.

I would be conscious of Wood in terms of Cooper have Origi which offers more pace and already seen him using Elanga as striker, Cooper likes to tweak his formation and players. But as an eighth attacker he's better than Archer.

    1. Kaminski (+4.5)

    =2. Alisson (+3.4)
    3. Sa (+3.3)

I've just realised that my moves this week will be dependent on pressers. They might even be clear enough from pre-Europa League pressers

If Alisson's out for at least two games, I'm going Turner to Kelleher and starting over Areola until Ali's back

If Bowen's out, I'm getting Gordon for him

If neither's out, I'll have to roll

Sitting on my hands and waiting:

    Areola
    Gabriel Tsimikas Lascelles
    (V)Salah Son Saka Bowen Mbeumo
    (C)Haaland Watkins
    .
    Turner Archer Coufal Guehi

Same here, in that Bowen will be key to what I'll do. Same with Alison. If Bowen is fine and Alison out until new year (speculation from media) I might go with Kelleher from next week. This week it's already Mbeumo in, and if Cash starts Thursday I might just go for Pinnock for a hit.

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 23 days ago

        Until New Year?! 😮

        Okay, that's massive if true

He still had to strain his hamstring some more by staying on when injured, so it's possible. Waiting for pressers

I wouldn't get Pinnock for a hit because it kinda has to be reversed by around GW17 or 18, so maybe still play Cash vs Bournemouth and then address him for free next GW

Cash should start. I don't think that's the risk here. He was subbed off because he was pretty close to a second yellow in that match

Same boat but I will bring in Mbeumo for Bowen if he is out (already have Gordon). I have a lot of value tied up in him so if he is just out for a GW or two, I will probably keep him. We actually have almost identical teams.

Thanks! I was having a very bad season and I have jumped up 3.5m places in the last few weeks. This was helped by me keeping Haaland and captaining him when a lot of active players had sold him so I got a good rank boost for his returns. 90 points last week too. Onwards and upwards!

Similar team here and also considering the Keller and Gordon moves.

      Areola
      Gabriel Saliba Lascelles
      (v) Salah Son Diaby Bowen Mbeumo
      (c) Haaland Watkins
      .
      Ortega Wood Maguire Dier
      .
      0.6 ITB

Swapped Saka, Alvarez, Mitoma for Salah, Mbeumo, Bowen as a wildcard last week.

I also got rid of Tsimi to Maguire. How confident are you about the PL minutes Tsimi will get through December?

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years

I'm pretty confident, although I guess I'll get a surprise or two before I finally sell for Digne in GW18. His attacking threat makes it worthwhile for me at that price with those fixtures, but I'll probably sell even before Robbo returns

Really struggling with team selection for next week.

      Okay, this is rough

I don't think Colwill will start over Cucurella any time soon, so that takes him off the list for me. Minimal attacking threat when he does play anyway, and Brighton will find ways to score

From the nailed three, it's hard to see a CS anywhere. But I'd play Mitchell and Taylor

Colwill has (or at least had) more attacking threat than stats show. When I owned him, he was sometimes a lot of time in the box and could have tapped the ball in, but there was no-one capable to cross the ball to him. However, if he isn't certain starter, it's another story.

Taylor & Branthwaite I guess. The loss of Doucoure will have a substantial impact on Palace defence & I would expect West Ham to score anyway (15 goals in the last 3 meeting between these sides)

I’ll leave these transfers until the European games are done but what would you do here?

My main issue are: needing Mbeumo back, no Arsenal, Cash.

Options for this week with 2FT:
    A) Mitoma + Doucoure > Mbeumo + Palmer
    B) Son + Mitoma > Saka + Mbeumo
    C) Mitoma + Cash > Mbeumo + Pinnock

I think A or B for now then do Cash next week as he has Bournemouth this week?

    2FT 0.3ITB
    Areola Turner
    Schar Cash Tsimikas Mitchell Kabore
    Salah Son Mitoma* Gordon Doucoure
    Haaland Watkins Darwin

    Thanks!

I agree with losing Cash next GW

I disagree with selling Son. Three offside goals is the definition of "goals imminent" in my mind

I like A as I wouldn't want to pile up on multiple Brentford without a WC for GW18

You might have enough for Kaboré to Lascelles next GW and maybe bench Cash for later

Son's got hauls coming. I don't think people would be rushing to sell if it was even Saka with three offside goals

I think this is some bleeding over from the lack of creativity when Ange had to start three DMs as his midfield

That's not how they play. That was a blip. They're back to all-out attack (even full backs playing at CB) and Son is the clear spearhead

I consider him a buy based on the Villa game, not just a hold and definitely not a sell

As for Bowen... I'm a doc. Any knee issue that needed a late fitness test is minor enough to me to suggest that it's not a ligament issue (ACL/MCL), so it's probably just irritation and they do the late fitness tests to check if it's gone down enough for him to play. That said, there are two Moyes pre-match pressers before the deadline. If he's out, welcome Gordon 🙂

Son owner here, my current team with 2 FT and 1.4m ITB looking like this:

      Areola
      Branthwaite Saliba Tsimikas
      Salah Saka Son Palmer Gordon
      Haaland Watkins

      Bench: Leno, Porro, Mubama, Lamptey

Would really like to get Mbeumo this GW, so (for now) I'm planning to sell Son. First I was planning to go Gordon -> Mbeumo first but it's hard to sell Gordon now, especially with Newcastle's good home form. Would also leave me with just 0.1 ITB. By selling Son, I could upgrade Lamptey to Trippier or just roll the 2nd FT with almost 4m ITB to keep future options open (for instance Mubama -> Isak). The other option is to spend both FT and downgrade Leno (possibly to Kelleher if Alisson turns out to be injured) so I could fund Palmer -> Mbeumo, but owning Leno and Areola enables me to have a very good fixtures run as long as GKs are concerned. Not 100 % that selling Son is the best option, however I feel I can significantly upgrade my team with the money I would get from selling him. Thoughts?

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years

I'd honestly just go Lamptey to Lascelles, start him over Branthwaite, and roll the other FT

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years
          2 years, 23 days ago

This is because you've got an attack that I really don't want to touch

I understand how green the grass looks on the other side, but the players you've got seem good enough to me to avoid team surgery and just focus on weak points, the weakest being Lamptey and having to start Branthwaite

          1. pawlo39
            • 2 Years
            2 years, 23 days ago

I feel like the upside Mbeumo has is much higher than the one Palmer has, the latter is a great enabler but imo we have to rely on penalties too much to get a return from him. But in this case I lack 0.5m to get Mbeumo and I need to find them elsewhere. I still think that Son is a great pick, but I think that Mbeumo can match him in the long term.
About your suggestion for this GW - I was considering Lascelles last week but brought in Branthwaite instead because of rumours that Botman is closer to returning. It looked like I could rely on Lamptey as well if necessary with him starting a game, but that changed quickly. Might have to sort out my 2nd bench slot in the near future due to the fixture congestion in December and probable benchings.

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years
              2 years, 23 days ago

If it's about raising funds for Palmer to Mbeumo, which I agree is an upgrade, then I think the best option is Leno down to Kelleher or another 3.9 even if Alisson is fit. This is because no other cheap keeper is currently offering more than what Areola does: save points and the hope for a CS. So I'd be fine with starting him for the next few GWs in your team if it enables Mbeumo

Wouldn't lose Son for this. As I said higher on this page: if that was Salah, Haaland, Saka, basically most other popular players with three disallowed goals, many would take it as a good sign of goals to come. It's somehow being interpreted another way this week

I think at the current point in time Mbeumo is a must, the problem is who do I/we take out. I think (and the majority of people playing FPL will probably agree) Salah and Saka are nailed, it leaves Son, Palmer and Gordon. The latter's form is great and he's got a favourable fixture run coming up. Palmer is on penalties and will have a great run coming up in 2 weeks time but I think we are relying too much on his penalties for him to get a return, however he remains a great enabler. That leaves us with Son, who is priced at almost 10m, and when I think what could I do with additional 2.7m (in comparison to Mbeumo) + the 1.4m I have ITB I think it's a valid thought. I agree that Palmer to Mbeumo and Leno down to someone like Kelleher is the optimal move (at least short-term), however that leaves me with almost no funds (0.2m) ITB and then I have to make 2 moves in order to upgrade either Lamptey or Mubama to someone like Gabriel, which I think is necessary due to the upcoming fixture congestion. As I've said in my previous reply, I certainly do not think Son is a bad pick, but I think that with Maddison missing, 2 tough fixtures in the next 3 and Tottenham's form since the injury/suspension crisis kicked in, it's a valid argument to sell him for someone with such a big upside (Mbeumo).

I've sold Bowen. Got Mbeumo in.
I don't like people carrying knee injuries - not when fixtures are coming thick and fast - these things can easily flare up again.
Happy to hold Son. Nobody would even be considering selling him if just one of those opportunities against Villa had been taken.

Son had chances this week and he's a great long-term hold. I'm planning to hold him until January at least, potentially if Spurs signed Toney in the January window it might be right to jump.

An argument in favour of selling now is that if he blanks in GW14, then I can see owners losing patience. We might see a downward run on his price. personally though I'm holding.

Thiago Silva is nailed and Colwill will come back in for Cucurella.

The remaining decision will depend on Gusto's fitness. If he's fit, I expect him to come in for James, which means it will be out of Disasi & Badiashile to partner Thiago.

If Gusto doesn't make it, I think Poch will be forced to switch to a back 3, Thiago Silva & Colwill occupying 2 of those spots.

I'm just catching up on MOTD. The moaning from managers about decisions this season is out of control. It used to be fairly rare for a losing manager to tee off on the referee and it was typically met with eye rolling, now it seems that every single match is followed by whining and complaining: Steve Cooper even managed to moan about a penalty that his team was GIVEN.

cooper is hiding behind it, totally agree. its a handy shield to deflect away from your teams poor performance but wolves have been done out of maybe 10 points this season. the threshhold for giving a pen, which is essentially a goal- is laughably low and thats on Howard Webb. when a player gets in the box i feel the instinct is not how can i score but how can i engineer a pen out of this.

Yeah I hate how little you have to do to concede a pen. For years I have felt that they should reduce the box to a smallish D and increase the threshold to clear denial of a chance to shoot at goal. 100% the instinct is to go down, it happens week in and out.

It's has been a really bad FPL season for me and lots of weird decisions and circumstances going against. One of those is bringing in Lyle Foster in GW10 with some great long-term fixtures ahead and looking sharp, but unfortunately he's having a tough time with mental health. So to the detriment of my team I'm sticking with Lyle, even as a token gesture of solidarity, I'm not about to drop a man when he's at a low ebb. There's bigger things in life than FPL.

Would like to get Mbeumo in and probably strengthen the 8th attacking slot with europe/suspensions/congestion looming. Who to lose to fund this?

      Areola/Turner
      Gabriel, Cash, Tsim (Guehi, Taylor)
      Salah, Saka, Son, Hwang (Chuk)
      Haaland, Darwin, Watkins
      2ft 0.0ITB

      A) Son/Chuk > Mbeumo/Gordon 0.8m in bank
      B) Watkins/Hwang/Cash > Isak/Mbeumo/Lascelles for -4
      C)anything else?
