Still don't know what to do re Bowen. I don't think we'll have any certainty anyway, I'll probably just have to make a decision based on nothing.

It's not based on nothing. He has a knee issue, hasn't trained and didn't travel for EL game tonight.

I'm ditching for Mbeumo. He hasn't trained. I'd be shocked if he starts at the weekend. Instinct says he doesn't play/benched this weekend, same for midweek and is properly back the following week.

Just get rid. Not in tonight's squad, if he's even available at the weekend (which I'm doubting) then I can't see him starting, and given West Ham have a busy week of PL (3 games in 8 days), he could well only be out a short time more and still not start a game for 3-4GWs

Put it this way, would you want an injured player over December, definitely not?

Would you want a player that is a rotation risk and/or don't know if he is a 100% 3 games a week? Probably not.

Not saying he's definitely available for the weekend, but there was no way he was being risked for this game anyway. Easiest fixture of the group stage and Bowen would have been, at best, on the bench.

    Which one to start?

    A) Areola v PALACE
    B) Kelleher v FULHAM

So you transferred Kelleher in this GW and you are unsure whether to start him or not

So your question is actually "do I transfer in Kelleher to play over Areola"

          1. Kane Train
            • 11 Years
            2 years, 2 months ago

Doesn’t really matter how I ask it. I’m just asking which one you would start. If people say Areola then I wouldn’t bother bringing Kelleher in lol

              • 5 Years
              2 years, 2 months ago

It does though, because one is simply "which of these two players that I have do I play", and the other is "is it worthwhile using a transfer / taking a hit so I can have X and not have to play Y". The latter is a choice you make that will affect what else you can or can't do this week (and potentially next week if you have other necessary moves) or may result in you starting with negative pts, the former has no impact on any of these

If you'd framed your question as "Should I get in Kelleher for Areola" you wouldn't get this confusion.

Anyway, luxury transfer - wouldn't bother.

After valuable insight here, decided Bowen is the one to go. What do you suggest?

    Leno
    Trippier, Cash, Mitchell
Salah, Son, Bowen, Mbeumo, Douglas Luiz
    Haaaland, Álvarez,

    Areola, Archer, Branthwaite, Taylor

    A. Bowen to Saka
    B. Bowen to Gordon (and upgrade Luiz GW15)
    C. Bowen to Gordon, Archer to Darwin/Isak (- 4)
    D. Keep Bowen, something else

C but Alvarez is at home to Spurs this week, this is my Dilemma too. Is Darwin, at home to Fulham worth a -4 with Alvarez to Darwin (although, I can afford one more price drop. Think Gordon/Isak are great GW17 to 19

B/C. I bloody love Darwin & still feel like that hat-trick is just around the corner. C also sets you up nicely with Dougie for Christmas bench cover (tougher fixtures but, you know, set pieces & pens - much better than Archer). Guess it just depends who you would have in mind as Luiz replacement and how you think they compare to Darwin

Salah was the most capped player last GW, but was only 62.4% EO near me, while Haaland was 136% near me.

Should I C Salah this GW? Surely if he isn't highly owned around me it means I get a greater rank rise than having Haaland C?

Think you're overthinking it too much. Just captain whoever you think does best. If that's Salah then go for it, if it's Haaland then pick him. Salah's EO around you won't be important if he gets 14pts as captain for you while Haaland gets 26pts

      1. JBG
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 2 months ago

Yeah I know that... but tbh I can see both hauling(2 goals each) so that's when EO% comes in to play.

EO doesn't matter when it comes to captaincy. You captain the player you think will score the most points and that will give you the biggest rank rise. End of.

    Team atm

I sold Cash last night, (stupidly) as he was supposed to be falling 3 nights in a row.

    0FT 0.7 ITB
    Johnstone (Turner)
    Saliba Taylor, Tsmikas (Porro Kabore)
    Son Saka Salah Mbeumo (Adringa)
    Alvarez, Pedro, Haaland (C)

Should I do Darwin this week for a hit for Alvarez or wait a week as they play Spurs?

Hmm yeah that complicated things... guess I agree with the above - like the move but hitting out Alvarez v Spurs makes it a bit questionable. Longer-term I think it pays off, especially if you have to sell Alvarez before 18 anyway, so if you feel like you need to make other moves next week then I'd just go for it. But if nothing else planned then maybe best just to leave it for next week & avoid the hit now (although that's precisely the kind of temperance I rarely apply to my team tbh!)

          Thanks mate.

          I appreciate it.

It Cash dropped my plan B could work, and was thinking well Saka V Wolves/Luton can't be bad if he scored and assisted last night lol

I need to take one hit, GW15/16 to see me to GW19 , but i said that last week, with Eze lol.

Shortlist for GW16/17 are Saka out for Palmer, and GW17 Pedro to Isak/Nkunku if he does play this weekend, and possibly Mbeumo for Gordon/Haaland for Watkins along the way, and just pray I don't need any defender moves.

and just realised if DGW20 is on I'd have to WC GW19 to TC Haaland GW20.

          Thanks again

Anyone planning for FH in GW18. Most don't seem that hot on it, but I think there is quite a lot of upside with the strategy as Brentford and City's fixtures either side of the blank are really nice so you can load up on them and take full advantage, and there are a few nice games in GW18 that you can also attack.

Think I might go for it if DGW20 is confirmed and then manage the big blank GW in the second half of the season by dead ending and wildcarding.

Since WHU play tonight, does Moyes even have a presser tomorrow?

Do not have much patience for Bowen anymore, points come before preserving value.

They had a EL fixture last Thurs and still had a PL presser the following day

Thinking Myolenko - on Watchlist/attacking threat

      Pinnock: ok fix.

Ajer: like Pinnock but higher xGI.

Saliba 5.5m but the best option. I would say Tsimikas based on fixtures and Klopp comments about him having found rhythm. Don’t like Ajer- on 4 yellows so unless you plan to Free Hit in 18 would avoid Brentford defence

      Slim pickings at 4.7m

Maybe Pinnock (BGW18), Livramento, Colwill or Castagne/Robinson

With Cash/Livramento/Taylor playing for one spot this week and 1FT.

Is it wise or unwise to bring Tsimikas in?

(Note: Plan to bring in Porro for Cash next week if not)

    Want to keep Bowen.

Anderson is my fodder, should i do Anderson to Garnacho and keep him as 5th mid and play if Bowen out?

Other choice is to swap Uodgie (currently on bench) for Tmiskas and play him over Lacelles

    Any advice?

Tsimi in imo but is a slight risk

However if Anderson was a fodder then Garnacho also a fodder and could haul ocassionally

Is that Anderson at Newcastle ?
      If so out injured
Improving your squad depth is vital at this time of the year so
Garnacho in is a good idea (also in good form)

For the first time in years I've been getting good captain points and it comes down to a simple premise that I set for myself at the start.

I put my bus captain on Haaland at the end of every single week and don't consider moving it until after all the games are played.
And then throughout the week I ask myself seriously is there a good reason to go for someone else?

Subconsciously, once you see the armband set on someone, it takes more effort to remove it and put it on someone else. So by defaulting to Haaland, it has simplified my decision making. Furthermore, I've only capped Salah or Haaland this year because they always have the highest expected points in any given week given the team they play for and their underlying numbers.

I have more captain points this season than if I had just perma-capped Salah or Haaland which is a huge win. I've capped Salah 3 times, was right twice and wrong once. But because I stick more rigidly to Haaland than most, I've done better than a lot of other people who flit around and play the captaincy game with the likes of Son, Saka, Salah and just take it week by week. And I'm fairly sure I'm gonna come out ahead of those guys by the end of the season too.

Every year, we see the same thing. Very, very few people score MORE captain points than perma-capping the highest scoring player in the game. I know that I've never done it before, so this year, changing the strategy to be more of a 'perma-cap' on one of the most explosive FPL players we've ever had seems the easy choice.

I've backed Haaland this season to be top scoring FPL player in the game, and because of my strategy for captaincy this season, I will be going with him this week and in future weeks where the decision is close. If he were to get injured, I'd switch tack to put the perma armband on Salah and only change it if circumstances really favored another player.

Is it boring? Yeah maybe. But we're doing something wrong if we can't outperform a perma-captaincy on the highest scoring player in the game and it's not hard for us to guess it will be one of Haaland or Salah this year so that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Any chance Alvarez doesn't start v Spurs? Then I could afford to do this for no hit with 0.1m left in the bank:

    Son -> Elanga
    Watkins -> Haaland

    Areola (Johnstone)
    Trippier, Saliba, Andersen (Cash, Estu)
Salah (v), Son, Mbeumo, Elanga (Diaby)
    Haaland (c), Alvarez (Nketiah)

    1. Feanor

Then next week I can get Palmer or Gordon in for Diaby

It's either him or Salah out to afford Haaland
