If you can keep Salah easily through 22+23 with no detriment to your squad, just keep him now. I'm expecting him back for 24.

Haaland and Salah in 24 is gonna be costly, mske sure you have the money to get both by then, best of luck guys.

I don't expect to wildcard before gameweek 30. I'd rather use both free hit and wildcard/bench boost around 34 & 37. I am looking to use bench boost sooner if possible. Triple cap 25 still on.

      Yeah...

Just keep on keeping two injured players at over a quarter of your squad costs.

      Great advice!

I didn't say keep Haaland, I'm not sure you should do that. I want more sales of both because I want them back cheaper...I can't give out advice that just suits my narrative though. Salah is probably back in 24. 22,23,24, that's three transfers to shape your squad before a big DGW. I refuse to just tell everyone to sell because it suits me.

It's a question of transfers now. Not many between now and a potential big DGW25.

    Haaland -99.3%
Son and Salah absolutely no where near with circa -30%

Is FPL Stats just naff now?

Haaland I could see going down again simply because the current news he's out for the next 12 days at least.

People are gonna wanna captain a City asset in 22. Alvarez is the dark horse, simply because people are concerned about his minutes with big Kev around but aren't we forgetting he's been integral for City's high standard this season.

Foden burned a few this week but again if I owned him, wouldn't be worried about minutes in 22. City don't have the dirth of options they once had and Pep Roulette feels rather diminished.

I'm a gambler, if I see good things from big Kev against Spurs in the cup before gw22 I don't think I'll be able to resist him. Fall guys include Saka and Watkins to be able to have KDB, Trent, Salah and Haaland in play by 25.

it was good while it lasted and we'll always have the Lake District to remember it by.

I've captained Alvarez a couple of times this year, not with great success, so no thanks. I'd rather punt on Kev's magic (half) hour.

FPL stats hasn’t worked for a couple of months for me. Tried different browsers/devices so I had given up on it anyway.

Saka has been disappointing lately but as a team they haven’t been scoring freely. I’m giving Watkins a little longer but other issues to fix and he’s a guaranteed starter.

Foden still looked dangerous against Newcastle so keeping faith in him, was just unlucky to not get points.

The vagueness of this injury stuff kills me.

I haven't seen footage of Salah hitting the deck, but the photos of the on-field assessment the "muscular injury" looks like "left hamstring". If there is footage of him going down, the mechanism for a hamstring is so obvious that I'd be confident of making a diagnosis despite no medical or physio training. Someone send me a link that works in Australia and I'll do it!

From my limited knowledge with other sports
    Grade 1: 2-4 weeks
    Grade 2: 4-6 weeks
    Grade 3: 6-12 weeks
(it's probably grade 1-2, given he was somewhat mobile)
There is ~25% reinjury chance if you rush back, no shortcuts with hamstrings.

Note: I am not a trained physio. But I think you could make a killing providing clarity on FPL injuries instead of, say, attempting FPL monetisation by joining the seemingly thousands providing basic/generic team advice.

Another example would be a trained physio could've said with confidence that "bone stress" in a foot is usually out long/longer than a foot fracture. I tried to mention that the injury diagnosis (bone stress) and prognosis (week to week) were inconsistent here re: Haaland but being untrained I didn't have the confidence or credibility to argue the point when people disagreed.

Hamstring injuries could be 2 weeks or more if it's severe. Depends on the athletes recovery process. Some are quicker healers.
Haaland seems to be one of those where you needed a little bit of basic knowledge on physics of the body.
Haaland have an injury record, and he is a big lad with fast fiber muscles. That is an important factor, as when you are having a bone stress it's about weight and intensity as your bone is exposed to the accumulation of your weight, this if more kilos thus more exposure and consequently bigger risk of aggravating it.
When I heard what it was I was pretty sure he was out until over Christmas at least.
But I had sold Haaland on my Gw8 wildcard, so actually his injury didn't have an impact on my team other than that everyone moved towards mine.

Facer was a physio who had worked with Stoke City and used to comment here on players' injuries based on video clips.

I think it was decided that doing this without more evidence such as could only be obtained by making actual physical examinations either wasn't very reliable or wasn't professionally acceptable though.

There is an obvious disclaimer that it won’t be 100% reliable, you need hands-on tests, but it’s still useful. Many mechanisms are 9/10 times a particular injury

I met a traveler from an antique land,
Who said, "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
    'My name is Mo Salah, the Egyptian King;
Look on my goals, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

But who would you have as a 3rd Liverpool player? Or do we really need a 3rd player considering (with the exception of VVD and Alisson) that the rest are unreliable and/or rotation risks and having three makes it harder to negotiate BGW26?

Darwin for me. Not bothered if he just starts one, he is the kind of striker that can get you something from 20-30 mins. Like he came in vs Newcastle 13 pointer, came in vs Fulham in the first leg, two assists.
I have him already, so I get that if you don't already have him you'd swerve.
If you can cope with it, I think VVD is a nice option, at least if you get him before Burnley.
Jota in the double could be a differential, with high upside.
Darwin is also easy to replace in 26, as Liverpool blanks in 29 are likely.

He's obviously plenty fit enough to compete against racehorses over 1m6f so do you think he starts against Burnley or will Pep be thinking about the bounce factor? P.S I fancy Lexington Knight (20/1) myself.

Hi Zoph, I'm intrigued by why most of the fpl content creators ASSUMED Haaland would be back soon and constantly suggested we should have a plan to get him back. This was based on no news and then later Pep saying "HOPEFULLY January". I watch a lot of Podcasts and to my knowledge only FPL Focal called it correctly in the early days that he thought Haaland's injury was way worse than first feared. We need balanced guesswork here with input from injury experts but most of the content going out was fear of not being able to afford him back next gameweek and over reaction to muscle leg photos!

To be fair I don't think it's been that simple, Pep said that he had had a setback recently so I think he was expected to return earlier. There were also photos posted by the French MC Twitter page a number of weeks ago of him training and kicking a ball while away at the CWC and they were swiftly deleted, and it later came out that was because after that he was supposedly sitting down in pain and couldn't continue

How about making the judgement yourself? They had some, others have some. It's not a gospel.
I was more in the camp that this would be at least over Christmas, but I know Haalands injury record and the type of injury combined with his physical attributes were matters that I knew would complicate it.

When was it last a 4 horse race? Liverpool are the only side that have put up a significant and regular challenge to City since Pep came in and even then they've not done it every year. In the last 20 years only 5 teams have won it, two of those winners only once (Liverpool, and Leicester in what was a unique season for a number of reasons)

Man United used to dominate the Premier League, with Arsenal as their closest rivals, like Man City do now, with Liverpool as their closest rivals.
Chelsea have also been regularly in the top four in recent years, but most seasons only two or three of these have seriously been in the race.

I think that the quality and excitement has increased in recent seasons, apart from the defending - which has been made more difficult by rule changes and poor refereeing and by the excessive number of penalties that are now awarded for players 'going down easily', often for minimal contact initiated by attacking players rather than for deliberate fouls by defenders - and for the delays caused by VAR.

I keep a Specialized Hardrock, of some description (namely, matt grey/black), at my parents' house in another country. I only ride it when I go back in time and want to go on a cycling date along the canal.

I bought it new on Ebay and my family had to drive 2 hours to pick it up while we were on holiday. Luckily they allowed me back in the car for the 2 hours back again. I would have struggled to cycle without knowing how to assemble a bike.

The first time I rode mine steed I tried to impress the nearby young folk by jumping over the brook by my house. This is a 5-foot drop and a fair distance to span, which I had previously managed to overcome on foot to varying degrees of success only. Unfortunately, "jumping" was not something I knew how to do on a bike, at least not as well as "dropping", and my attempt to raise my social standing resulted in lowering my probability of fathering children. The front tire met the bank on the other side, sending my bike flying over my head, while my head planted firmly into the turf. Luckily, I was a young folk myself, and as such, squishy, sustaining minimal damage, though hurting my teeth.

My new bike, on the other hand, was riding a little funny, and not knowing anything about bikes whatsoever, I did not know what was wrong with it. When taking it to the local bike shop, the staff immediately laughed at me and the unfortunate new profile of the bike, which left the front forks pointing almost backwards. "What did you do!?" the staff asked, agasp. And on telling them, they informed me that this is not the bike for such stunts. Diagnosis: idiocy. Prescription: New front forks (on the bike). Having spent too much money on a bike I will, ultimately, rarely use, I chose the cheaper options and immediately downgraded my shiny (well, matt) new bike.

Here in the country I live, I ride a bike most days, but I couldn't tell you the brand.

    Klopp on Salah,

"At that moment he was shocked and couldn't see why he was hit by something so intense. You have these hamstring injuries in a different way. He felt it and we know how rarely Mo goes off, or needs to go off, so it is definitely something but I don't have any more information right now."

Getting closer and closer and closer some of them might be in kind of part of team training next week. For the Bournemouth game I don't expect anybody back after the Bournemouth game, maybe for Fulham [Carabao Cup] we will see how the boys do.

For me, if he doesn't play, I will be fielding 10 players this GW.

Same, first sub is an equally unlikely Zinch and then injured Taylor and absent Son

Slim chance. Still hopeful. Trippier on bench. Hoping for Johnstone too. Probably more forlorn.

Don't really get the laughs at the Salah keepers. I still have him and feel really comfortable waiting for any meaningful information. If he's out for longer, I may just get anyone else with the FT.

Keeping 13 mil on your bench when injury is always a possibility for anyone in 3 or 4 games and not knowing when he's back for the sake of .1 or .2 seems a bit silly tbf

It is not about 0.1 or 0.2 but unnecessary use of the FTs. As long as we have no Haaland in our teams it's really no issue, I have playing 13 with Salah and TAA on my bench.

Equally so even if you needed to take a hit to get Haaland or Salah etc back in what's the big deal?

It really didn't make sense to hold them on the bench tbf.

See above, I have a team covering all the main picks with Salah and TAA comfortably waiting on my bench.

Most teams were running with 1 premium in Salah and Son with 8 playable attackers before 21 deadline.

Selling Son, higher odds remaining in international tournament, instead of Salah in 21 was a fine decision. Delaying the Salah decision until 22 was due to gaining info on potential Liverpool double/blank and Egypt AFCON progression.

Exactly this. At the same time I could use a FT to remove Lamptey that I would probably play never again.

Missed the deadline again. Another transfer burnt.

Need quadruple Arsenal attack to fire tomorrow, but they seem to have gone cold. Time to reheat Rice or cash in this January? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPvrQTULoyY

No problems if it's cooled fast. You can't do fried rice from warm rice.

Trent and Robbo double up for the double might be on if they both get good minutes leading up...

In isolation it looks fine but when looking at the bigger picture, need to navigate potential blank in 26.

Fair points...might try and squeeze VVD in for security. Or as you say with the blank TAA and Salah if both fit may be enough anyway with the rotation which Klopp does favour.

So based on klopps comments I can only get konsa 6 points from the bench instead of a trent haul right?

Explained above that statement is not correct, maybe if your team was in a bad shape but otherwise I see no issue in still having Salah along TAA. If needed, it is just a matter of Salah to KDB, was set on keeping FT otherwise.

The issue is pretty simple in that your alternative options can both get points and accumulate value.

          I can't field 8 attackers anyway

Might be getting to the point where you don't get any big gun back till they get some minutes on the pitch first. I guess KDB showed what can be done in limited minutes but at least he had got some cup minutes in prior to that.

Still have Haaland and Salah. It's getting silly now. But I'm still struggling to justify using the transfers.

There's just no one I really want and I prevent myself from having bench headaches if one or both are chilling on the bench. Unless I need the funds for an emerging season keeper I can't really see a good reason to sell them on especially if I'm gonna want them back for the likely double-double in 25.
