    -4 for this lot.

    Areola
    Doughnut, Taylor
    Son, Maddy, Bowen
    Watkins, Morris, Toney

    A: FH
    B: Stick
C: taken another hit for spurs defender and delay WC to 31

Morning! On FH anything you’d change?

    Flekken
    Doughty - Porro - Reguillon
    Bowen - Son (c) - Paqueta - Maddison - MGW
    Watkins - Toney

    Areola - Fofana - Robinson - Cash

Paqueta an interesting bet, Kudus and Bowen will be the more popular picks, so might be a good differential.

Are we expecting to get any news on Watkins pre-deadline? I will make one transfer for 11, either Solanke or Toney for Watkins.

Of course he will, Frank wouldn't bench Toney, had he not scored all season. Such an important player for their style of play.

I’ve every confidence Toney will play as well. I was just wondering if he might be having a flutter on whether Watkins plays.

Realistically at this point of the season where could you be placed to have a chance of winning FPL top 100, 1000, 10000 or higher?

I’d say Top 100 to be anywhere close to realistic.

      I am 900th, only 36 points off Top 100 but 107 off 1st

Yeah. I'm 400 OR, and I don't think winning is realistic.
The 'template' picks or obvious players to go for will make most teams in 'the top' have 8-9 of the same each GW. With 2 different players (but maybe from the same team) the gap is too big.

Obviously you could just pick XI different players to anyone else if you're in top 5K and go for it big time, but most likely outcome is that you end up 1mil and lose every ML you try to win 😉

Like all the others. There's really not much difference in teams. Whether it's Elanga vs MGW vs Bailey, it'll be luck of the day which one outscores.

      1. Steavn8k
        • 2 Years
        1 year, 8 months ago

True, so I should probably just stick. Trying to cover both Luton, Forrest, West ham and Villa having a good day, but rather difficult. Might do Kudus to Bailey to have Villa cover, if Watkins doesn't play.

Not much different. Current goalscorer odds are virtually the same for Kudus and Bailey. Kudus probably more certain for minutes though. Elanga odds for scoring are between then MGW.

If Watkins is out then Duran will be the pick for me.

But really you have most of the picks that are most likely to haul.

Comes down to gut feeling, but Wissa's current form might be something worth going for.
Don't expect neither Martinez nor Areola to keep a clean sheet, but more save points from Areola seems likely.

I will have to take a -8 to field 8 also.

Two guys behind will have to play fh as they only have 2 players each.

I would personally as someone that's had Toney for a while. Don't understand the fervour for Toney given recent performances, feels like the striker alongside him is the one getting most of the chances. He's had 2 shots on target in the last 4 games (one being one from the halfway line)

One thing many people are missing is Brentford plays 3-5-2 in difficult fixtures (which they had) so this might be one of the reasons of Wissa's reneissance of form. In easier fixtures, like Burnley, Toney should be more central.

        1. Udogie-style
          • 2 Years

Unfortunately there's another stat that Burnley concede few chances from central position.

C'mon, it's Burnley. Don't get carried away by stats so much, we're not solving math equation here.

              • 2 Years

You literally just referenced a statistical pattern, citing that against teams that are stronger Brentford prefer a particular formation. Statistically speaking, that is true. Also statistically speaking, Burnley concede chances and goals mainly from areas other than the centre, which I'd where you say Toney will play.

Look, I'm not Toney's best friend or lawyer, I'm not trying to convince you that he's the best striker in the world. I'm just saying that we are maybe to far into this xG business, if Burnley was playing Manchester City nobody would say "don't captain Haaland cause Burnley's centre is a fortress".

It's a one week duel, Wissa might smash it, Toney might smash it, I'd rather have proven, nailed, 90' man with penalties in my team, that's all. If anyone wants to go Wissa instead of Toney, go for it.

                1. Udogie-style

Nobody said you were, but it's hypocritical to tell someone else to stop looking at pretty simple and basic statistics when you're doing the exact same thing to support your choice.

I don't get this moving of the goalposts. I prefer to try and understand what is statistically the most likely outcome.

You use Haaland as an extreme example to prove a point, but it doesn't really make sense because Toney and Brentford are not Haaland and City.

An out-of-form Toney playing in a position where Burnley don't usually concede chances is not a great situation. I've got both Toney and Wissa for this reason - allows me to cover the herd selection of Toney for safety whilst also getting a slight differential with Wissa.

Also, aren't most goals scored from (generally speaking) "centre"? I wonder what they mean by chances and goals from other areas? I understand chances from left/right, being let's say crosses/dribbles etc but scoring goal from actual left or right of the pitch is rarity, most of the time it's penalty box or just outside, for me that's "centre" anyway. Just a food for thought.

Well given that you think Toney will be moving to a central position from a wider position, I'd imagine that's what centre refers to.

True but him being involved so little against teams as poor defensively as West Ham and Chelsea is worrying. Mbeumo's return should herald an improvement but really it'll probably be a good few weeks before he really settles back and I'm not keeping Toney that long

1 FT and 2.2 ITB. Only six starters if Watkins & Rich are fit. Seven if I use my FT. Planning to save FH for GW34.

    A - Gusto > Udogie

Son my captain probably home to Luton. But will be bringing Salah in for Bowen so will be close call

Luiz at home is good. I don’t like the Forest mids but seem to be very popular this week in FH teams

Is Morris a better option than Wissa due to Mbeumo's impending return for Brentford?

More a better option due to Luton being at home and Morris being on pens. I'd say.

Wasn't going to FH but having mapped it all out, there is no better time.

      Son - Maddison - Bowen - Kudus - Paqueta

      Watkins - Toney

Bench?: Kaminski - Morris - Pau - Digne

There 'potentially' is a better time but all depends on what you had before the FH

Agreed, but only had 5 without the FH, and I reckon I'll wildcard extremely late (GW35)

Is benching Bowen over Kudus a bad idea??

Non FH team and I’m not sure if I should go with damage limitation and get Toney/Maddison and accept a red arrow or go with differential picks in the hope of reducing said red arrow. Wissa and Wood are intriguing me as an alternative to Toney and Johnson to Maddison also

Start Elanga or Kudus on FH?
