    Has everybody checked out already?

I don't blame folks for checking out early this year. Kind of a boring end to the season imo. There has been very little room for creative picks/punts and I feel like most time when I've gone against the crowd even if it hasn't come off for them it hasn't come off for me either. Just kinda blah.

It’s as boring as you want it to be. If you captained Bruno or Isak for the double you'll have a great time. Wouldn’t be that “creative” as a punt but massive potential gains

This is my 16th year playing fantasy. I'm someone who would rather take risks/punts in order to try to 'win' then just finish top 10k/100k and imo this year has been the year with the most firm template. This template has been highly affordable for most of the season with the likes of Palmer, Solanke, etc... and more expensive defenders being hurt/under performing.

Of course I 'could' have captained a player who scored more, who was a B/C/D captain option but when the A option has great fixtures and is owned by 75% of the game the risk is so great to go against the heard. I've only captained Haaland or Salah a handful of times this season but each time they've performed I've been punished and even when they haven't performed the B/C options haven't performed that week either.

All that to say it's been the most boring season I've had and it's not even close to my worst finish.

The entire season literally boiled down to Watkins, Haaland, Saka, Salah, Palmer, Son, and Solanke. After a few rounds, Trippier shone, and Foden entered the template with Arsenal's double defense. The same teams, the same captains, with no chance to play differently to "avoid punishment." Now it's like Isak and Bruno, so it's not boring...yeah sure. Actually, I completely agree with you; it's one of the most boring, perhaps the most boring season ever.

Maddison, Son, Richarlison and Bowen had their runs too. Cunha and Munoz surprised. Doughty, Wood and Morris put in some heroics too.

Given this season has shown its harder than ever to achieve defensive solidity and the # clean sheets is down in previous years (most likely due to longer playing times I'd think), do you think you can see any shifts in how FPL approaches defenders for next season (e.g. pricing or how they accumulate points/BPS)? It seems that there haven't been many go to defenders who carry sufficient threat to warrant some of the price points we've seen this season, apart from a few. It seems ARS defence + prime Trippier have been the only sustained worthwhile investments.

With 5 defensive spots needed on the game, at this rate, next season I'd certainly consider defenders, even my top 3 beneath the pecking order of choice below the top 8 and potentially 1st GK as well, when team building.

Times change very quickly. I swear at the start of this season everyone was talking about going big at the back and defenders being too cheap - Might have been the year before

I think the bigger Trend is full backs Having less attacking potential because they are inverting more frequently

True, so that cedes more attacking potential to Mid and Fwd spots as part of the trend. It's no surprise that there have been many good mids and fwds this season I'd think as they have better ability to move further forward during advances

Or how about reducing to 4 defenders and increasing to 4 attackers? A bit radical but interesting (to me at least)

They have needed to do this for a while. Same with DMs but they tend not to make big changes like this.

I can think of 5 or 6 changes that would make the game far more enjoyable for all but the game tries to attract as many new players as possible, it isnt as interested in retaining the hardcore as i guess they think we will all play whatever.

    Haaland / Watkins / Isak

I'd hold and wait for more info. If he plays one fixture out of the two, it's probably not worth wasting a transfer on.

If he's out for both, then do the switch.

Not just injuries but illness etc which is often kept quiet.

It's not like transfer value really matters, I've got 7.7m itb.

    Raya
    VVD Gabriel Branthwaite
    Son Saka Foden Gordon Palmer
    Haaland Isak

    Pickford - Munoz RAN* Semenyo*

RAN/VVD > Gvardiol? Also not sure on whether to start Pickford or Raya, think Arsenal playing at home probably edges it.

What to do with VVD? Play this week and roll transfer or just get Gvardiol in now?

Held VVD for so long, desperate for a bullet header! Spurs didnt defend set pieces very well v Arsenal last week so there is a chance.

    Afternoon all,

Any recommend changes/transfers or roll for this week? Currently benching Jackson. Assuming it’s not worth doing Son to Havertz/Saka for a week? 1FT £0.1

    Pickford (Petrovic)
    Gabriel Walker Schar (Maguire Porro)
    Son Foden Gordon Palmer Bruno
    Haaland Isak (Jackson)

    Cheers!

If you swap Burn fo Schar then apart from Pickford I have all the players at the top of the Watchlist. This would be really comforting if I didn’t think that I was going to get battered this GW as the Arsenal mids run riot

    FPL Challenge question:

"Players receive two points per shot"

Does it mean shots on target or do all shot attempts count (inc. missed/blocked etc.)

    What do you think?

  19. El_meak
    • 2 Years

    Dubravka | Pickford
    Reguilon | Gusto | Mykolenkho | Gabriel | Mengi
Palmer | Salah | Saka | Luis Diaz | Havertz
    haaland | Cunha | Solanke

is this a good move for -4 or are there better options?
Salah, Mykolenko, Solanke -> Isak, KDB, Gvardiol

No. Bruno plays 90 or 0. He hasn’t even been ruled out, the guy will do everything to play. He won’t cameo so if Bruno doesn’t start you’ll get Gordon anyway. If both start, Bruno more likely for points as Gordon stinks playing away.
