What percentage are WCing or is it just FFS crowd?

too early to WC and fixtures aren't right for it either.

Yeah. Didn't realise the injury was that serious. Thought he would be back for the Leicester game.
I might go for Konsa and either Digne or Pau Torres

Argument you are wasting £1m. If you aren’t playing Davis against Fulham and Konsa against Leicester when will you play them. Probably can make them playing 4.0ms

            • 7 Years

I understand the argument, but then I'm just one injury away from having to FT or play a 4.0. And Lewis isn't really nailed. I could swap Davis for a 4.0 though...

If you pick the right 4m defenders is having to play one of them once in a while so bad? I’ve got H-B playing this week as a necessary sacrifice for a premium heavy team

          Raya
          TAA Robinson Lewis
          Palmer Saka Jota ESR Rogers
          Haaland Wissa

I'd start Konsa ahead of Lewis. I reckon AVL have more chance of keeping a clean sheet against LEI than City against WHU. Then it comes down to attacking threat, and how likely is Lewis to get a goal involvement?

Had a look at my stats table and only 20 players have an xGI over 1.0 after 2 games.

Of those 20, only 5 are forwards and only Trent is a defender (who is 9th overall which is absurd..)

Semenyo is putting up extremely impressive numbers. Worth monitoring if he can keep his position but Evanilson could screw things up.

Other than Haaland, none of the forwards look great bar Welbeck imo. Welly could be great if he stays fit and his stats are pretty strong with 5 shots in the box in the first two games.

Its still super early though and wouldn't trust the data until I have at least 6 weeks down.

I had him last year at 4.5 and could never seem to get anything from him, was obviously fodder and at 1m extra there are better options in my opinion

Very early as you say, Welbeck concerns me given they just spent a record fee on Rutter. I do like Semenyo and would consider on WC, Trent looking ridiculous and Haaland also. Maddison going under the radar.

Cannot shake off Watkins as an option. Should have scored atleast 1 against the best defence in the league.

    Goals are coming.

    Isak > Watkins

Isak also played 90min yesterday, not sure if thats really a 'good thing'.

For me both Isak and Watkins are not fully up to speed yet, but one has the better fixtures 🙂

Isak is fine, it's the rest of the Newcastle midfield and attack that's not up to speed yet. Against Spurs may suit him running on to balls over the top.

Watkins doesn't look up to speed yet, but the team around him look decent. Add fixtures and maybe Watkins is the better pick.

    TAA - Timber - Lewis
    Salah - Palmer - Jota - Mbuemo - ESR
    Watkins - Havertz

Valdimarsson - Pedro - Robinson - Harwood Bellis

    Plan is -

    GW 4 - Save FT
    GW 5 - Save FT
    GW 6 - Salah ➡ Saka
    GW 7 - TAA + Watkins + Jota ➡ Haaland + Savio + Aina for 3 FTs

This way I cover the fixture shifts of both GW 4 and GW 6. Thoughts? 🙂

I like it. It's a mystery to me why Harwood-Bellis is SOT's 4.0 def of choice... Jack Stephens is the captain of the team, has better stats and is more of a threat on corner kicks if I remember this right from previous seasons in the PL. More important, he has low ownership which makes a price drop very unlikely.

Have you not learned from Quansah?

Timber + Lewis is not asking for trouble it's jumping straight into a fire.

You're on WC as well so you can't afford any risks now imo.

At the very least go Saliba or Gabriel over Timber (I'd fund through ESR > Rogers but you could just downgrade Pedro > 4.5m as well)

      1. pundit of punts
        • 12 Years

I’m 100% locked on Timber. I’ve read Arteta quotes and I’m sure he starts regularly from now on.

Lewis, I’m not sure about but the upside is too big for just 4.5m and I’ve cover in Robinson. He could’ve had 2 goals in 2 matches. Early movers are the winners imo. If he doesn’t work out, I’ll fix him in GW 8.

Just 1 risk for big rewards in my WC team is worth it imo. All other 14 are super nailed.

I read all the quotes and have no idea where you get that much confidence in Timber. Calafiori is really good and fits that LB role that tucks into a back 3 perfectly.

Timber will get mins but I don't think he's anywhere near nailed. But I guess if you have other reasons to believe he's nailed I can't argue with that. Rogers + Saliba just feels so much better to me than Timber + ESR.

I like the rest of the team though and since you have Robinson I think I agree with you on Lewis being a worthwhile risk.

Really wasn't taken by Timber on Sat, he was so slow on the ball, definitely contributed to Arsenal struggling for the first however long, doesn't necessarily mean he's not an FPL option but he really slowed up their passing game.

Two centre halves weren't much better though to be fair.

I know Zinchenko isn't a great defender but I know which of the two I'd pick.

And potentially there are 4 different options at left back.

I think you're dreaming on Timber. Might as well be yelling that soon

        Agree with this.

One too many risks in defence. Timber mins will get managed with Calafiori imo.

First good start to the season in several years (top 35k). 2 FT worth considering?

Isak and Sangare > J. Pedro and Madueke?

    My current WC-draft:

    Raya - Fabianski
    TAA - Robinson - Konsa - Lewis - Harwood-Bellis
Saka - Palmer - Jota - Luis Diaz - Rogers
Haaland - Joao Pedro - Jebbison

Is Jota + Diaz too much Liverpool considering their potential rotation?

I think it is if there's good alternatives for similar price. Not only rotation but each is impacting the other's points in games.

Jebbison is going on loan to Watford. Diaz not for me again after last season

WC activated. Is this team too unbalanced or is it worth it for the premiums:

    Raya (Iversen)
    Gvardiol Aina Nedeljkovic Pau (Faes)
    Salah Saka Palmer Rogers (Winks)
    Haaland J.Pedro (Jebbison)

    Open to input!

      Good team. Defence needs upgrading.

I agree, the defence feels horrible, but I just don't see which premium I can bring myself to lose. Could downgrade Raya to Sanchez for example, but just feel that Arsenal are going to get a ruck of clean sheets again.

Lose Saka or go Salah to Jota. You have 4 players who'll do well, high ownership, but the remainder will help your rank. So I think you should drop at least one of them, get another 6-8m mid plus 4.5m mid and likes of Pedro up front. Don't drop Raya.

Jebbison supposed to be going on loan to Watford. Kosta is not guaranteed if we sign a RB before window closes

Yes, defo keeping an eye out for Villa's transfer activity. If they sign a RB, I'll likely move to a different 4.0

Similar to mine - see above - so I like it. Not sure if there are better choices on the 4.5 defs . Konsa over Pau? My def is cheaper which meant I could go 352 and have ESR over winks, rather than 442.

      Saka > Watkins
      Pedro > 7m mid.

Not a bad shout, that. Hoping to retain as many penalty takers as possible, but Saka could become Eze. Do we think Watkins is on pens?

    Really torn with this decision

    A) Son to Palmer
    B) Isak to Watkins
    C) Roll

Ideally I think I'd rather wait till next week but by then I could be priced out. Got 0.5 itb

I think Haaland vs Salah is not something that poll the audience can shed much light on - look at the captaincy and go with your gut

I would ask why you're set on a spurs mid though. They've had their two banker fixtures, don't think Son will maintain the output he did against Everton.

To me Option B would look fine with a downgrade to Son

    Ok Gentlemen/ladies
    Please rate my WC
    RAYA/Turner
    TAA, ROBINSON, LEWIS, Davis, Mosquera
    ROGERS, ESR, JOTA, PALMER, Soucek
    HAALAND, WATKINS, HAVERTZ

So maybe a bit heavy upfront but provides coverage and good price points for eventual changes.

    All throughts are welcome.

    Thanks
