I prefer United’s right back over Martinez

Personally not a fan of McNeil, prefer Rogers

I think you’d be leaving too much money on the bench each week.

McNeil to Dibling, rotates well with Semenyo.

      Change GK to Raya.

Martinez to De Ligt (will score goals)

Unsure on Jackson on WC given tough fixtures

    (Bri H, Nfo H, Liv A, New H, Mun A)

Feel like I would be considering selling him after just 1 blank.

Worth having for the next 2 GWs and potentially booking a transfer for GW8 or better to go with Wood / DCL who have good long term fixtures?

Question - does anyone else spend as much time working backwards as working forwards?

Let me explain. I’m planning GW13 wildcard. So a lot of my planning now is what team would I ideally have in GW12 and what moves can I do in the middle to get as close to that as I can.

So I might not do a tempting transfer in Gw7 or 8 if it hinders me getting closer to that Gw12 squad.

No idea if that makes any sense?

No, if it works well for you then great, crack on.

For me I seem to do better when I don't overthink things and anyway you can plan ahead but one injury could change all that in a second.

Hope however you do it does the trick.

Dead ending strategy has failed me too often. The player I have not sold has too often got injured, lost form, been dropped or gotten RC or food poisoning. And since there is value with saved transfers, I'd prefer to WC from a good position and to be able to save some free transfers after WC also.

I suppose you can have a halfway house, have an idea who you want in preparation for a particular week but there's no point putting a player in 3 weeks ahead of when you really want him.

And as you can transfer everybody on a WC its a little irrelevant who you've bought previously?

My scenario similar to you was not putting in Haaland in for GW2, just about got away with it but it still set me back.

But if it works thats all that matters.

This wasn’t so much about deadending as a concept.

The thing that brought to mind was Saka and Gabriel. I expect currently to sell both in GW9. Expecting to sell so quickly would normally prevent me from buying. But have Gabriel because my defence is so weak atm. Son to Saka I’m still debating.

There’s a principle in project management called the planning horizon. If you plan too far ahead, the uncertainties & unknowns stack up to the point it is effectively unpredictable.

Best of luck to you, but I just don’t think FPL lends itself to planning more than 6 games ahead

4-6 imo, supposing we forget players like Haaland, TAA and Gabriel who might be season keepers if fit and in form.

Understood, it doesn’t mean I need to stick to the entire plan at all though. More that the immediate decision / transfer has to be consistent with what is currently expect the plan to be.

For instance - GW5, deciding whether to stick with Isak, go for Watkins or DCL.

Given the current future plan was for fodder to Gabriel or Eze to Foden, I went for DCL rather than Watkins.

Was also why I went both Salah and Haaland to begin with. Having the most expensive assets at the start is the most flexible to move to any future plan.

Yeah, I understand the logic. The issue is that you are making decisions today allowing you to reach what you see as optimal in in 6-7 weeks time.

But one or two injuries, a loss of form to some key fantasy assists or a managerial casualty and your plans are up in smoke.

4-6 ahead probably about right as Baps Hunter says

I should caveat, this is used to decide between multiple viable options in the short term.

Ie I would never make a transfer that looks bad now because of what it will look like hopefully in future. I would only use it to decide BETWEEN decent options.

Ie DCL + £3m vs Watkins. Both were viable and came down to how I expect to spend the £3m over coming weeks.

Really weird analogy here, when I played pool and darts for pubs the rule was lose 3 you're dropped (magically never did).

So I do usually give players at least 2 to 3 games unless its a proper one off punt.

I can't wait for the gameweeks to come quickly enough, I've already spent my next two transfers in my mind. Might of been a little rash going JP to Wood but I like that I've gained 0.1m at least.

Hmm this has been discussed on some level already but is Lewis now back on table after Rodri news?

    First 5 games:
    - Rodri 3x0, 45, 25 (injury)
    - Lewis 3x90, 45, 0
    - Walker 3x0, 90, 77

I think it increases his chances of playing but not necessarily starting. Walker being dreadful yesterday might be a bigger factor who knows.

      .
But, Palmer is still there, high up on points/ppm, 1 blank in last 4, 3 home games in next 4/5, set pieces, and looks like he can score/assist effortlessly in any game...

I know taking a -4 on a GK is rarely worthwhile but might it be worth doing Henderson > Raya given both their upcoming fixtures? The -4 could be paid back after ARS v LEI and it helps me keep my WC until later on.

    Henderson
    Gabriel - Konsa - Robinson
    Eze - Diaz - Palmer - Mbuemo
    Haaland - Mateta - Wood

    Valdi - Winks - Myko - Mosquero

A hit for Areola to Sanchez worked a treat for me this weekend: +6 points up, an upgrade and 0.1m transfer rise. Sometimes worth a punt!

    Hi all,
Don't think I need a WC but have 2 FT.

    Hendo
    Gabriel TAA Robin
    Salah Jota Madueke Rogers ESR
    Haaland Isak

    Barca Pedro Greaves

    Thinking:
    Jota/Isak to Saka/5.8M

    What do you think?

Yeah get Saka and Ross Stewart, save the money for the Madueke slot.

        Better than Mbeumo and Havertz?

        Feels close!

    WC, 0.9 itb

    Raya,
    Gabriel Taa Colwill
    Saka Mbeumo Diaz Semenyo
    Haaland Jackson DCL

    Fab, Rogers, VDB, Greaves.

Colwill position is flexible for me. Rest I’m happy with. Any thoughts on possible upgrades with .9 itb?
    Konate/De Ligt maybe?

Is it "ok" (as in "even possible") to go without Liverpool attack on WC? Currently on Diaz, but I could downgrade him to fit both Palmer and Watkins

For me, it’s the biggest decision for a GW6 wildcard. There’s an argument reduced mins due to Slot early subs makes it viable. On the other hand, Diaz is on fire.

I settled on Diaz but knowing I may need to transfer him out in next 2-3

Get Diaz now, easy to move on later if it dies.

Awful gw going from 200k to 570k.

Now I can't get over the fact that because I did not hit wc on Saturday (but only yesterday) I lost 0.3 or 0.4 because of the price rises depending on which ones I choose on wc (Raya, Rogers, Diaz, Mbuemo).

You're still in the top 5% when most people are actually still playing. Not awful, massive rank swings are going to happen when all the totals are still low.

Need to drop Wissa, so which combo you like?:
    a) Salah, Saka, Wood
    b) Salah, Diaz, Watkins
    c) Palmer, Saka, Watkins
    d) Palmer, Diaz, Watkins

    On WC. 2 Questions please.

    A) Gvardiol & Solanke
    Or
    B) 4.5m Def + Watkins

    1) Savio
    Or
    2) Eze

B, 2 for me ; though I'm not sure I'd have Eze. Gvardiol is shipping goals and not looking very attacking. With Rodri gone that problem might get worse.

    On WC:
    Robinson > Porro?
    Or
Saliba > TAA (leaves me able to do Watkins > Havertz in a couple of weeks perhaps)

I have Gabriel & Saka already.

TAA would be great but I wouldn't want to lose Saliba before LEI,SOU, bou. Of the two options I'd go with Porro

I believe squad value is massively over-egged in terms of importance. It's great to increase it but most squad value' is unusable. Eg. I have Haaland valued as 15.3 but only get 15.1 if I sell. My 'squad value is 100.9 but if I sold everyone it's 99.9. Even years where I've built high squad value the actual sale value is far lower.

Agreed. Majority of team currently is 0.1 up. Big deal. I win squad value in ML every year. Dont take many hits, maybe 4-6 a season, but generally come 2nd-4th each year overall. Havent won it in about 7 years. ML winner last year, when I came 2nd had £2m less value than me come the end. Its actually irrelevant really. 1 upgrade that may or may not work out yet we all sweat or rage over that 0.1 up or down.

    WC thoughts?

    Flekken (4.0)
    Gabriel, Davis, ___ (Greaves, SvdB)
    Semenyo, Rogers, Saka, Mbeumo, ___
    Haaland, Jackson, ___

    A) Konsa (or other 4.5), Salah, Jimenez 0.2 ITB
    B) TAA, Diaz, Solanke 0.3 ITB

Leaning towards A) as Jackson could become Solanke in GW8 and I don't have to worry about Diaz/Gakpo rotation.
