It’s time for our monthly look at the takers of set pieces and penalties in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With the season settled down and new signings bedded in, most players involved at dead-ball situations have merely been carrying off where they left off.

But there are a handful of notable changes since our last round-up at the end of September.

Based on the official Opta data in our Premium Members Area, here is a breakdown of the latest four Gameweeks.

Are people not a bit too quick on dumping Haaland to free up funds for Salah?

Dont get me wrong, Salah is a great player and great pick, but take away his 2 penalties, and this would have been his last scores:

        It's less than 1pt difference if you take bonus into account and that Salah is more than twice as likely to miss a pen than Haaland (which is -2 pts and -6 bps), based on career records. Haaland might even get more points for pens than Salah after that is all factored in, but I can't be arsed to work it out.

  Unless you are going with all 4 players (in which case, good luck to you), you have to pick at least one of Haaland, Salah, Palmer and Saka to exclude. Though I do think people are taking the decision lightly, as if Haaland's hattricks are over, I do think it's a fairly obvious choice come GW12, given Haaland's price, the fixture swings and the minimal points difference.
  
  It's within the realm of believability that Haaland is outscored by all three players from 12-17 or even beyond, so why spend so much money on him? The extra money could get you an upgrade to one or more of Son, Havertz, Jackson, Gabriel, TAA, etc, or improve the bench, as a additional cushion.
  
  The question is if it's worth the WC, FTs or hits to switch things up, and then maybe switch things down again to get him back in. In many cases, I think it probably isn't. For me, it probably will be, as I might have 5FTs for GW12.
  
  Salah, I would say is the second most obvious choice come GW12, basically for the same reason: high price while other heavy-hitting options are ripe for the picking.

      Many of them will have triple-captained him in Gameweek 2 before selling him later.
      
      Half of the teams in the current overall top twenty don't have Haaland, and neither do half of the teams in the top ten of the FFS Live Hall of Fame.
      
      Nearly all the teams in The Great and The Good have Haaland, but none of them are currently in the top 200k.

        Quite a few of the top 200k are there because they triple-captained Haaland in Gameweek 2.
        And if they don't own him now, it's because they sold him later and avoided his blank spell.
        
        Some of the top 200k just got lucky this season, but the top ten of the FFS Hall of Fame all have outstanding FPL histories, so they know what they're doing.
        Five of the top ten in the FFS Hall of Fame don't currently own Haaland, and they are the only ones in the top ten of the FFS Hall of Fame that are currently in the overall top 230k (Ben Crellin at 226k and the other four at 106k or better).
        
        One reason for none of the Great and Good currently being in the top 200k is probably because many of them continued to captain Haaland through his blank spell but failed to triple-captain him in Gameweek 2.

        "Some", "many" and "quite a few". It's all a bit made up tbh.
        
        According to LiveFPL 80% of teams 100-200k owned Haaland last GW, so it's safe to say that the overwhelming majority of people who've done well have done it with Haaland, not without, contrary to Jack's comment.
        
        I don't think you read Jack's post, because that's what I was responding to. I don't understand the relevance of your replies, though, so it could be a me issue.

        Looking at the overall top five,
        #1 has used all four of his chips, TC'ing Haaland in GW9 and still has him.
        #2 has used three chips, TC'ing Haaland in GW2 and still has him.
        #3 has only used two chips, TC'ing Saka in GW1 and selling Haaland in GW5.
        #4 (Hussein Noun) has used three chips, TC'ing Haaland in GW2 and selling him in GW4.
        #5 (Dudu Lio messi) has only used one chip, a Free Hit in GW3, the only week in which he owned Haaland.
        
        So quite a variety, but it shows that some of the top 200k are there because they have already used multiple chips, and that is another reason why the Great and Good currently aren't.

        Because they aren't currently in the top 200k, despite having superior FPL histories to many of those who are, and seeing how this relates to their ownership of Haaland.
        And comparing what they have been doing this season with what the current top 200k have been doing.
        Which is partly down to ownership/captaining/triple-captaining/selling of Haaland, partly to chip usage, partly to the selection of the other players in their squads and to their captaincy and benching decisions, and partly to luck and skill.
        We should be able to learn something from those who have great FPL career histories as well as from those who are doing well this season.
        
        This all relates to Jack88's comment about Haaland and the top 200k. I didn't check whether or not his assertion that most of the top 200k didn't own Haaland was true, but I did note his ownership by some other relevant groups that I could check, such as the overall leaders, the Hall of Fame leaders and The Great and The Good, and it is interesting to see some of the differences between and within them.

I don't get this good fixture run for Wolves. Spurs have better odds to beat Villa than Wolves have to beat Soton next week. You wouldn't say Spurs have a good fixture, would you? And if home to Soton is not a good fixture what about the rest? I don't get it. Good fixtures my arse.

        It does matter though. If you lose a game then by definition the opponents attacking and defensive players are the better fpl assets. Does depend on the share of points of course for specific players but overall if you're not expected to win a game thats not a great starting point.

        When did I say I don't? My opinion the whole season so far hasn't changed. I wanted to wait and see how this massive Chelsea squad settled before bringing in their assets. I am now bringing in Palmer and plan to bring in Sanchez for the start of their good run.

Idea is to permabench Winks(if no sudden injuries)
and play whoever has a decent fixture out of Okoli/Hall/Andersen as third D. (Not like anyone is getting clean sheets nowadays)
Feel Newcastle has decent fixtures and Isak might be a good differential.

    You're playing at least 4 or 5 cheapies every week. Its working ok at the moment because cleans have dried up so no real incentive to go more expensive back there and cheap forwards are scoring at a similar rate to the more expensive strikers. Neither are likely to last as trends and if anything I'd be concerned that these Cunha and down strikers are all hitting form at the same time. Sods law they'll all revert to what they are at the same time and you've got nowhere to run to without selling a premium which will be a tough call.

      agree, there's been seasons where theres basically nothing under 8mil for strikers. not going cheap myself.
      
      but the numbers wood (iirc its now 18 in 25) and wissa (16g/a in last 19) are pretty mental. go back to nuno coming in and Wood's ppg will be around 5.5 and now he has pens. can see the appeal
      
      maybe how good gordon and palmer last year as cheapies is influencing things, they were season keepers so people think the same about the cheapies this season

        Palmer and Gordon were basically talismen for sides challenging for top 6 though. I dont see that with Brentford or Forest who have both been aided of late by some nice fixtures. Realistically Wood isn't getting above 15 goals this season I don't think so he'll drop off at some point.
