Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

Listen in on the squad selection via this link.

Alternatively, stream it down your pipe using the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Clynes a better player and is more nailed on, West Ham have way better fixtures though. I'm trying to decide this issue at the moment too.

Doos' there's a few rumblings about Noble's position with all the new signings, Diarra's out this week, so Noble should start, but looking further ahead is he still nailed on? Cheers

    The Cider Man says:

    Jaaskelainen, Begovic
    Haangland, Cole, Vertonghen, McCartney, Cuellar
    Silva, Sigg, Hazard, Valencia, Noble
    Torres, Graham, Petric

    Thoughts on the above anyone?

    ------

    issues for you to consider....

    1. vertonghen might be eased into the team, he had a mediocre pre season
    2. have heard rumours valencia could be right back
    3. hazard - for the same price surely mata is a better bet.... proven in the prem
    4. siggy - not sure he will start...... him and vdv have the same role.. with vdv being the senior player..

Tevez for now, cheaper and full of confidence, Even if he doesn't start to well you will be able to change your team to get aguero in. I havwe him and plan on no transfers the first two gameweeks to get him in gameweek 3 if he fails to start well

    Check my team...Good?

    Scwharz

    Hangeland/Cahill/Shawcross

    Van Der Vaart/Gerrard/Kagawa/Walters

Just the one change tonight, Vorm to DDG. Think this will be it:

    DDG, Federici
    Terry, Zabaleta, Boyce, Cuellar, Gunter
    Mata, VDV, Kagawa, Michu, HRK
    Torres, Tevez, Graham

Nothing in bank. Probably Terry to 5m and Torres to Rooney for a hit

    Cole A Hangeland Zabaleta
    Mata (C) Noble Bale Yaya
    Jelavic Graham Rooney (VC)
    SUBS: Friedel Williams Guthrie McCartney

.5 mil left in the bank, anyone have any advice? I have not adjusted my team since the whole RVP to United thing, but I am not sure that I need too. Any and all help would be appreciated!

1 question though, with the .5 mil I have left over, would it be better to upgrade Jelavic to Tevez, Yaya to Nasri, or neither???

I agree, and if I go for Tevez I might not keep Yaya (He isn't to great of a FPL player, and with Tevez I will have attacking Man City coverage). The only problem is I want someone who I can keep for a while without having to transfer them, and without any doubt of them starting, and Tevez worries me.

think tevez will play plenty for first few games. and he is fitter than any striker they have and can link better with them all. im not saying he will be ahead of aguero but will get plenty of gametime for your 9m 😉

      Define reasonable defense.

I'm happy with 9.0 keepers, two strong defenders and two 4.0s. I think that's reasonable, but people get on my case for having a weak defense.

I have 10.5 tied up in keepers, not sure it's viable to have those front 3 and DDG in goal but I'm very reluctant to shift him... currently have DDG, Fed, Zab, Hughes, Cuellar, Clyne & Demel - too weak?

I'm not Camzy but I have Podolski, Tevez, and Torres (to rooney in gw2) as my front 3 and I'm using A.Cole Lescott Hangeland Cuellar and Clyne as my defenders

Sorry mate but If Torres starts well you can't take him out, if you do you will lose ground, you should be building a team to transfer out tevez not torres

lols Hope you're joking... Torres is crap and is only in my team because he has a double gameweek. Tevez a million times over the best striker between the two.

Do you prefer Podolski + Michu over Graham + Cazorla?

Nice defence. I have Tevez, Rooney & Torres up front but a pretty ugly defence

Okay, my first RMT of the season:

    Friedel, Green
    Demel, Hangeland, Cueller, Vermaelen, Cole
    N’Zog, VDV, Michu, HKR, McClean
    Torres, Defoe, Tevez

3.5m in the bank, May go Bale and leave enought to get RVP. Thoughts?

    Now back to me says:

    What do you reckon?

    De Gea Begovic
    Zabaleta Cole Cueller Gunter Clyne
    VDV Lamps Taarabt
    Tevez Torres+2 Graham

    2 midfield slots

    A – Cazorla & Kacaniklic
    B – Kagawa & Maloney
    C – Nasri & Maloney

    ------

c .... at the start of the season its always better to go with players proven in this league, and ones you know will start and where they will start....

probably do with cazorla... less so with kagawa

Not a City fan but since we've all been obsessed with this...

Neither, Kolarov is favoured in a 3-5-2 (which won't happen too often) and possibly Clichy otherwise. But the lack of certainty isn't worth it

Is Michu guaranteed to start? I am thinking of Dyer but I have enough money for Michu if he is gonna play.

Nah, you need Graham and Michu, have faith in Laudrups need to attack ;).... But then again I don't have any United, Liverpool or Arsenal players so I may be risking too much....

Not too sure, atm... Think it'll be Mata in behind and Hazard out left for the Wigan game definitely, but they're pretty much interchangeable imo, and I reckon RDM sees it the same way...

A point on the torres to rooney/ RVP option....if Torres starts well, will people then still make the switch to Rooney/RVP. Surely with Torres the main/only striking option at Chelsea and Rooney and RVP stealing points from each other Torres would then be the way to go????

I doubt we will have to worry and honestly I feel like I am taking a gamble for points even with Torres's double game week. I doubt he will be leading points as well I would put money down on the mids getting more points

MY heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains
My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk,
Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains
One minute past, and Lethe-wards had sunk:
'Tis not through envy of thy happy lot, 5
But being too happy in thine happiness,
That thou, light-wingèd Dryad of the trees,
    In some melodious plot
Of beechen green, and shadows numberless,
Singest of summer in full-throated ease. 10

O for a draught of vintage! that hath been
    Cool'd a long age in the deep-delvèd earth ...

    Night, all. 🙂
