Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

Listen in on the squad selection via this link.

Alternatively, stream it down your pipe using the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Cazorla or Mata if I already have Cole and Torres but no Arsenal? Not sure if 3 chelsea players is overkill, or if Cazorla is starting.

      Mata for the DGW.

Arsenal have a new attack and may need time to gel. Should pull a win over SUN but with Cazorla playing 90 for SPAIN mid week he may be tired - subbed etc.

    Hi chaps. I'm a bit late to the party today it seems. Thousands of comments and a scoutcast to catch up on tomoro morning. I've three questions if anybody can be arsed please. They all involve uber-cheap defenders ;
    (1) Norwich...new signing.. Tierney's place under threat?
    (2) Is Gunter the safest 4m pick from Reading defence?
    (3) For once and for all...McCartney or Demel?

    Much appreciated, any replies. Thanks.

      (1) Yes.
      (2) It depends where Mariappa plays, he's a CB but can also play RB. Most people on here think Gunter will be safe.
      (3) Demel.

      Im having the same problem.

I think Valencia is the safe option. Scores well even from RB.

Nani is the strong punt. Could kill it from the flanks with RVP and ROON in the middle.

Wait and see on Kagawa for mine.

    My current team is:

    DDG – Federici
    Lescott – Hangeland – Saylor – Demel – Barnett
    Nasri – Hazard – Michu – Maloney – Guthrie
    Aguero – Torres – Graham

3.5m spare for Torres -> Roonet and Nasri -> Silva

However, the dilemma is that I’m keen on getting RVP so i need another 1m.

What are the thoughts on witholding that 2.0m needed to complete the planned upgrade of Torres to Rooney post GW1?
Say if you spent that extra 2.0m on your starting squad and were intent on getting Rooney in GW2, would you consider a 4pt hit this early on a feasible option? Meaning you'd need to downgrade elsewhere to free up funds to complete Torres > Rooney

        That's a solid 8/10 team.

Not pushed on Lampard (but I never am, and it has been my downfall for many a season - so maybe add .5 to the rating!)/Robson-Kanu (I would play Pienaar, no guarantees United will keep a clean sheet) and Friedal, I just think Spurs seem determined to replace him, and if it happens before deadline day, you have to use a transfer to take him out, which is the most pain in the ass type transfer to have to make.

I was thinking Lamps > Bale for GW2 (need 0.5m for that), then the Torres switch in GW3 when United have an 'easy' fixture and then Ivan to Rangel for GW 4 which gives money to upgrade Yaya...so confused!

This will definitely be my final RMT - I might change things but I won't bother coming on tomorrow, it's going to be a madhouse 🙂

    De Gea | Federici
    Cole | Zabaleta | Hughes | Clark | Demel
    Bale | Kagawa | Mata | Pienaar | Maloney
    Tevez | Torres | Graham

    Looking OK?

Didn't you tell me not to RMT before? 😉 pretty much the same defence as me. Kagawa is a risk but it's fine

Ah, OK, last post: I like it '66. I'd personally go VDV over Mata but I'm conveniently forgetting the DGW, aren't I? Nah, good to go! 🙂

One possible change is Kagawa to VDV for the Spurs double-up in midfield, not 100% sure on Kagawa now that RVP has arrived. Would need to find 0.5 but it's doable.

Or Clark to someone like Clyne. If Spurs didn't have Newcastle away I probably would, but VDV could easily be injured by GW2 when the juicy fixtures start...

True...there are Reading defenders too. Gunterand Gorkss are reasonable bets at 4 apiece.

Taylor is shaky for a starting place as I'm sure Santon will make it his own this season. Holt is risky considering Hughton will be far more conservative with Norwich. Valencia is part of the United rotation problem.

Swansea have probably the best set of starting fixtures, so Graham is more popular. Plus the general feeling is that Norwich might be a bit more defensive with Chris Hughton as manager - Swansea should be more attacking with Laudrup.

How come in the members comparison tool, in the key stat 'mins per goal', if a player has 0 he wins any other value? Because surely if the player hasn't scored a goal it is bad so therefore shouldn't win.
