Watchlist was last updated on December 21st.

Haaland top of the strikers, Pedro still there, no Mateta. I’m trying to decide who I should replace

If you own Isak & Cunha, then the only other forward left atm to take a punt on is probably Mateta. Or you can go with steady Wood.

I own Isak, Jackson and Pedro

I have Bruno and Kluivert suspended.

Team is a mess. Considering, Watkins, Mateta, Wood, or changing to 352

I reckon I would either do the Mateta punt with the tast SOU fixture or switch to 352. I have played 352 the whole season, and I’ve been pretty happy with it.

Probably keeping Bruno as he's still a long term pick beyond his 1 game suspension, starting Enzo and bench Bruno.

Currently either saving FT or Kerkez/Greaves to Munoz. It's a luxury move but I do like Munoz stats and Palace fixtures.

I want to punt into Arsenal and so it's a choice between Martenelli or Trossard for me.

        Both are proven.

I could get Jesus but feel he's an even bigger risk for minutes etc.

An early WC over January break is definitely tempting.

Feel like I made a mess of my team with recent transfers( Bruno in for Saka, Cunha out, Diallo in, keeping Pedro.

Excited about a defensive line of the Forest CB’s, Hall, Pickford, Munoz of whom I don’t own any

Your first 7 fixtures with Cunha would then be:
new, che, ARS, AVL, liv, bou, FUL.

I would be really surprised if you didn’t end up transfering him out during this period.

They've been a selling club hence why they've struggled defending.

A big offer would be tempting.

Some owners don't particularly care what the fans think.

Understood. Just one of the reasons. Would also allow for a BB in GW 24. Pickford/Allison in goal should be easily achievable with all the budget options

Fair, but TC gw24 might be a better chip if you have it.

Then BB and the AM chip later on. Which would be a reason to save wildcard2 for later on as well.

If you play it on gw20 and do some early changes you've got 10 days to hit price rises and plenty of time to refine it.

Most of the premier league teams will rest their starting 11 for the early FA Cup games so injuries shouldn't be a big issue.

    most shots:

    Haaland - 73
    Semenyo - 72
    Palmer - 64
    Salah - 63
    ......
    Fernandes/Cunha - 51

If Semenyo had his shooting boots on this season, would be the most essential player in the game. Take Cunha, if Semenyo had overperformed his xG to the same level Cunha has, Semenyo would be on 18-19 goals. and tbf Semenyo not exactly known as a wasteful finisher before this season, maybe he can turn it around?

    1. Pep's Money Laundry
      • 10 Years
      11 months, 12 days ago

Without taking the mick about Haaland

Semenyo is the classic example of a player that is good and but not likely to be a top player unless there he makes strides on the hardest part of the game which is finishing of chances

When is comes to Cunha, we can all see this will be his last season at wolves before a big move

    2. Tommy Template
      • 11 Years

Semenyo wasn't even nailed in Bournemouth's team before this season. I'd say hes already made quite a bit of progress

    3. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      11 months, 12 days ago

From what I've seen, I would characterise Semenyo's shooting as more opportunistic than wasteful. A lot of the time it's not like he's missing decent chances so much as he's firing off from any unlikely position. Very few players would have a lower xG per shot, I reckon. So I wouldn't expect the conversion rate to change much anytime soon

cheers, fair points all. holding out 1 more gw with amad to see if he can deliver, then will likely go back to semenyo. still think he has it in him to go on a run of 5 goals in 4 games or something, when the stars align and all that.

Bruno has mugged me right off last week!

      Flekken*
      TAA Gabriel Munoz
      Salah Palmer Bruno* Rogers Amad
      Isak Jackson
      Fabianski* / Hall Pedro Greaves

Funnily enough had planned a GK transfer this week already. Timely. Also feel that Jackson may be benched vs. IPS but probably still starting him.

      A) Flekken/Bruno > Alisson/Sarr (-4)
      B) Flekken/Bruno > Pickford/Diaz (-4)
      C) Other?

Not sure I'm a fan of just benching Bruno as the bench options not great this week.

It's frustrating as I don't love Pickford's fixtures really, but the points haven't lied lately. Surely missed the boat - but at least he'll have a DGW too. Usual LIV attack issues though in coming GWs. Diaz starts this week but Jota is returning...

Also - start Hall or Amad?

So VAR don't punish Pedro's malicious attempt at swinging his elbow simply because he didn't catch Yarmoliuk. Ridiculous rules.

Yes, i lost by 1 point, yes my opponent had Pedro.

call me crazy, contemplating bringing hum back for Jackson who's annoyed me and is likely not starting either.

I'd only have 1 Palace in defence. Not keen on the double-up despite favourable fixtures.

3/10. Good player but too much competition. It won't surprise me if he leaves next month.

Thoughts on Gakpo? Looks to be flourishing on the left now Diaz given a central role

I wouldn't buy him this GW as I think he might be due a rest but he's clear first choice LW imo, started last 6 league games LW

Actually just remembered the quote from Slot's presser yesterday and I don't think Jota starts so probably Gakpo, Diaz and Salah front 3.

Arne Slot on Jota - “I think the last thing for sure, we’re still managing his fitness. He’s been out for quite a long time and he couldn’t train that much. Sometimes when a player has an injury he can do a lot but he couldn’t do a lot for quite a long time. Since this league is so intense it’s not so easy if you’re almost 2 months out. To come in and play for the start again you need to have some minutes to build this up and he is in competition with some other special players who are, at this moment, also on top of their game. He’s gradually building it up and I think he comes close to starting a game but like I said he has competition in this position as well.”

I like the Diaz pick but he rarely starts two in a row. That was with Jota injured. He will likely start WHM as suggested but I’m uneasy about selecting him long term. What do you think?

Too much uncertainty with starts/mins for me to go with Diaz/Jota. Probably prone to early subs when Jota is fit to start.

Also the argument that both are explosive off the bench is not great either

Diaz - 0 returns from 5 sub apps
Jota - 1 goal from 4 sub apps

My team is already set for this GW (see below), but considering Cunha > Gakpo when the suspension is announced. Thoughts?

          Palmer - Gordon - Odegaard - Salah (C)
          Isak - Cunha - Wood

            So wild card options

            A. Haaland Colwil Henderson Choudry
            B. Cunha TAA Pickford Gordon

So it’s Haaland with Rogers starting every game and Chelsea defence versus Trent Cunha and Gordon probably starting instead of rogers most weeks
