Over the last week or so the Fantasy Football Scout fold have been sharing our innermost thoughts with regards to some of the most “Burning Questions” ahead of the new campaign. To accompany our views there, here’s our annual quick-fire round of predictions, where we let you know the players each of us are tipping to shine in a new season…

As our entry from last year will show you we’re prone to making the odd mistake (or seven). Steve Kean, eh? Who would have thought he would still be in a job. Even after he got Blackburn relegated, as half of us rightly predicted.

Here follows our thoughts on the year ahead. Soak it in and then join the discussion and offer your thoughts and counter-comments down below.

Andy, that’s my good self, kicks things off for 2012/13 with what is no doubt a bit of a fancy for one player in particular. And it’s not even Gylfi Sigurdsson. This is almost partisan from our resident all-rounder.

The Premier League

Second out of the traps is Big Dunc. One of two Everton fans on the Scout payroll our resident toffee can’t help but get a little bit excited at the prospects of his club. Is he mad? We’ll find out by May.

Having signed mid-way through last Stilicho gets his first Scout attempt to show everyone just how prophetic he is. His opinions on Norwich pretty much separate this gent from everyone else involved so he’s either a mad heretic or the one we should all be looking to in the future.

Granville gets a weekly platform on the Scoutcast to discuss and debate with Mark on all things Fantasy Football related. In this post he has, perhaps unsurprisingly, decided to pick some answers from the red side of Manchester. What’s more surprising is that we can see some light blue too.

Also having his first dabble at infamy is Jonty. With no Premier League allegiances for this Brighton fan, his picks can come untainted by any frivolous behaviour. He wisely agreed with me about a certain West Brom player.

Anorak may be our resident specialist when it comes to the men in black but he also likes to think he can be a dab hand at Fantasy football too. As far as top goalscorer predictions, he marks himself out as the black sheep of the Scout fraternity by being the only one not to tow the party line.

Having churned out more top quality articles than Anchor have butter, Paul is well versed on all things Premier League and as such we expect him to score 100% when we mark his results in May. Even if one of his answers is Emmerson Boyce, who are we to second guess?

Mark The guv’nor brings up the rear and clearly has a problem with Swansea’s prospects, whilst talking up that Southampton mob. Mark backed Grant Holt last season and, similarly, he’s going with Rickie Lambert to turn up with a similar goal spree. Oh, and he still fancies Leighton Baines. Must be the haircut or the record collection.

With the growth in traffic to this site I think it is time to at least trial a proper forum structure. E.g. RVP or Rooney? Someone will start a thread and then all discussion about that can go in that thread. Budget defenders? Ditto. The topics that people are interested in will stay near the top and those that they aren't will fall away. It will need careful management of course and more Mods recruited. They could think about a separate Newbies forum with promotion to the Main forum decided by Admins. Paid members getting automatic access to the Main one. Lots of options, all better than the current situation IMO.

Alex Song won't be a sub. It was either wait next yr for Yaya...or listen to Cesc this year and not get pushed around by Madrid. Apparently people on this site (as well as shitty group of gunners fans) don't respect the man's power and class...like he could only complete passes to rvp.

...a sub, funny. Barca don't buy subs frm Arsenal. Bookmark this if you like and compare notes during CL.

I'm on Guthrie but wavering. It just seems a boring punt for a guy that is gonna do feck all other than the DGW (where he may get 6pts max). I kind of like taking a bit of a punt on the cheaper players just to liven it up a bit.

    My current team...

    Fedrici - Friedel

    A. Cole - Lescott - Clark (AV) - Cuellar (sun) - Barnett (nor)

    Lampard - Kagawa - Silva - Kacaniklic (FUL) - Robson-Kanu (RDG)

    Podolski - Torres - Tevez

Plan to ship some of those Chelsea players in the first few weeks for Bale and some more united players...

I'm a bit lost in those budget pics, they do not seem to fit well together. Any pointers, should I downgrade one of my big midfielders or forwards, to upgrade my budget players?

Quick thoughts on Mata, I know RDM has just said that he plans to rest him at some point, but I'd be surprised if that is for any of the early Premier League games. During the international break Spain only have one game, most countries have two WC qualifiers, and Mata is obviously unlikely to feature much in that game.

    I'm starting with him.

I can't afford the .5. Going with Torres, lamps and Ivanovic (maybe Cole, hearing you are getting that Spanish RB from Marsaille.)

Hows your team looking, still 3 big guns up top?

Late last season he was often subbed early, I might see him getting benched at 60 if they are at least 2 goals ahead.

Perhaps, but if we're 2 goals up then chances are he'll have done something.

He'll start against Wigan and Newcastle, that I'm sure of, Reading is the only slight doubt.

Agree...he made those comments when Mata was about to play the Olympics and on the back of a Euro campaign. He ended up playing hardly any football and Spain were out really early. I had him down as this season's top assister and see no reason to change my mind.

From the scout predictions, are people worried that Swansea will start to ship goals? The early fixtures are pretty difficult to ignore and the back line is mighty tempting price wise, what’s the general consensus?

Atm I'm going without Aguero and nothing in the bank.
Let's say Aguero scores two and Torres fires blank in both - what to do then?

No doubt I'll panic and do something like lampard + torres => anybody + aguero.

Actually after that rvp move, I'm sensing early wild card for me....tevez + zaba.
Hopefully I can save gw2 tranny and then do lamp + torres => pienaar + aguero/rooney for gw3.

Let's just hope for torres goals so there's no need to fear mass exodus after gw1.
