Over the last week or so the Fantasy Football Scout fold have been sharing our innermost thoughts with regards to some of the most “Burning Questions” ahead of the new campaign. To accompany our views there, here’s our annual quick-fire round of predictions, where we let you know the players each of us are tipping to shine in a new season…

As our entry from last year will show you we’re prone to making the odd mistake (or seven). Steve Kean, eh? Who would have thought he would still be in a job. Even after he got Blackburn relegated, as half of us rightly predicted.

Here follows our thoughts on the year ahead. Soak it in and then join the discussion and offer your thoughts and counter-comments down below.

Andy, that’s my good self, kicks things off for 2012/13 with what is no doubt a bit of a fancy for one player in particular. And it’s not even Gylfi Sigurdsson. This is almost partisan from our resident all-rounder.

Second out of the traps is Big Dunc. One of two Everton fans on the Scout payroll our resident toffee can’t help but get a little bit excited at the prospects of his club. Is he mad? We’ll find out by May.

Having signed mid-way through last Stilicho gets his first Scout attempt to show everyone just how prophetic he is. His opinions on Norwich pretty much separate this gent from everyone else involved so he’s either a mad heretic or the one we should all be looking to in the future.

Granville gets a weekly platform on the Scoutcast to discuss and debate with Mark on all things Fantasy Football related. In this post he has, perhaps unsurprisingly, decided to pick some answers from the red side of Manchester. What’s more surprising is that we can see some light blue too.

Also having his first dabble at infamy is Jonty. With no Premier League allegiances for this Brighton fan, his picks can come untainted by any frivolous behaviour. He wisely agreed with me about a certain West Brom player.

Anorak may be our resident specialist when it comes to the men in black but he also likes to think he can be a dab hand at Fantasy football too. As far as top goalscorer predictions, he marks himself out as the black sheep of the Scout fraternity by being the only one not to tow the party line.

Having churned out more top quality articles than Anchor have butter, Paul is well versed on all things Premier League and as such we expect him to score 100% when we mark his results in May. Even if one of his answers is Emmerson Boyce, who are we to second guess?

Mark The guv’nor brings up the rear and clearly has a problem with Swansea’s prospects, whilst talking up that Southampton mob. Mark backed Grant Holt last season and, similarly, he’s going with Rickie Lambert to turn up with a similar goal spree. Oh, and he still fancies Leighton Baines. Must be the haircut or the record collection.

Is Maloney the best £5m midfielder?

Kind of sick of hearing about Noble. Is Miyaichi a good idea or too soon for him to have a chance of starting? Anyone else?

Mate I watched him at Easter Road on Wed, he look liked Maloney, small, fragile, very inconsistent and spent time on the bench. I can see him being a huge flop.

    What to do with Carzorla?

    A) Keep him
    B) Replace with Valencia
    C) Replace him with Nasri

The most shocking thing about the RVP situation is his inadvertent confession to taking advice on his future from a little boy inside him. Truly, football these days is in the gutter; not an eyelid batted by the media in response.

Just got to the end of the previous post.

    DDG / Fed
    Zab / A Cole / Bennett/Gorkss/Demel
    Bale / Yaya / Lamps / Noble / N’Zog
    Tevez / Graham / Torres (+2)

Is keeping the 2m worth it anymore? Or maybe I downgrade A Cole to Rafael to get 3m for RVP?

    Thoughts on team, regulars?

I'm not a fan of the Graham pick but I am in the minority, and I want an Aguero, Torres, Tevez front line. Other than that it looks like a great team--I would make pretty much the same choices in the other positions.

I think I would downgrade Yaya to Larsson / Pienaar and use the money to upgrade one of Bennett/Gorkss/Demel.

Keeping the 2 or 3m really depends on your (transfer) plans for the next few weeks.

Hmm, those 3 rotate quite well, and the plan is to always keep two on the bench, so might as well be the cheapest. Thanks for all the comments guys, might just go with Aguero instead of Graham now.

    Federici
    Rafael - Zabaleta - Cole A
    Bale - Guthrie - VDV - Lampard
    Graham - Torres(c) - Tevez

    Well, RMT:

    Mignolet, Federici
    Terry, Zabeleta, Hughes, Cuellar, McCartney
    Bale, Mata, N'Zog, McClean, Noble
    Aguero, Torres, Graham

Terry > Vertonghan GW2, plus a plethora of options around Aguero, Mata, Torres > Tevez, RVP, Rooney, Siggy, Valencia, Adebayor etc etc.

I actually can't remember who my captain is ;P

Are Chelsea not ridiculously light on strikers? What happens if Torres gets injured or continues to brain fart? Lukaku could have been useful when the fixtures get busy. You never know what you're going to get with Sturridge. Brilliance or Bollocks.

Very much so, but 13m is a lot for a player at a new club with 4 decent fixtures in 10. I just don't think he's essential anough to start ripping up your team over him.

RVP scores when he wants. Scored a hat trick against Everton as well! And he has a better team around him! Something about that press conference, i want to see him in my team badly!

Yeah but will he share goals with Rooney etc. He also won't get 3 baps every game he scores with Rooney there. I'm planning Mata –> Valencia for GW2 and if RVP/Rooney looks essential then I'll take a hit to get them.

Team is picked. I have £1.5m in the bank but need it to be £2m. Best way to lose £0.5m would be a great help.

    Schwarzer Mignolet

    Ivanovic Zabaleta Hughes Cuellar Fabio

    Bale Lampard Yaya Ireland Dyer

    Tevez Torres Petric

    a) Downgrade either Ireland or Dyer > £5m?

    b) Downgrade one of my three £4.5m defenders to £4m?

You could drop one of the 5.0 keepers and trust to save points.

Otherwise Dyer > Noble (and maybe Petric > Graham) would work.

I also like Fabio > McCartney. Is Fabio really giving you anything?

If you do all of those you could afford another 9.0 midfielder, which is a very good thing indeed.......

I like rotating 2 keepers who I believe can keep CS so they stay.

I think QPR will do well this season and that Hughes has had time to put his own stamp on things as he only has a panic buy January window the last time.

        Is McCartney any good?

He plays for West Ham. Make of that what you will, but I can't see what QPR's fixtures do for you.

    Shwarzer Mignolet (Beautiful combo)
    Rafael Zabaleta Cuellar Clyne Gorkss
    Valencia Mata Bale Ramires Guthrie
    Aguero Tevez Graham

It's depressin owning Guthrie. Do i do Mata to Lamps and Guthrie to Noble? Will be on the bench first week anyway.

Assuming that you're planning to sell Lamps GW2, do that. No point messing up your team when Lamps could outscore Mata anyway.

Attackin nailed on(for the moment) Manu RB.. i don't care about his discipline. That being said.. I own him and Valencia atm.. If he gets a red card and Valencia plays RB i'm screwed

So I've shifted my team around a bunch, but haven't clicked confirm yet. What do you think?

    ---------------Federici
    Vertonghen--Rafael--Zabaletta
    --Bale--Lampard--Nasri--HRK
    -----Torres--Tevez--Graham

    (Jass-Pienaar-Bennett-Clyne)

I just don't want too many guy's I'll want rid of straight away, already have Torres, Nasri, Lampard. That's not too many actually, I might do the same thing. Unless he scores against NEW then his proce shouldn't go up.

All these teams are coming together quite nicely now. It's amazing where a few months of research gets you. 😀

Lovely back line and I see Pienaar is waiting in the wings to take HRK's place. Cannot fail 😉

Goalkeepers might be my only concern but you can't have everything!
