The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League (UCL) returns on Tuesday with Matchday 11 – and so does the competition’s official Fantasy game.

Ahead of the deadline, we’ve got a team reveal from Louis (FPL Reactions), our resident European football expert who co-hosts the official UCL Fantasy podcast.

It’s a week for unlimited transfers, so basically a Wildcard. When I first saw this round of 16 draw, I thought there were some very clear favourites. But a lot has changed since then and the situation seems less obvious. With that in mind, my current team is significantly different from its first draft.

GOALKEEPERS

UEFA Champions League (UCL) Fantasy: Scout Picks Matchday 11 1

A lot of people forget that Dortmund made it all the way to last season’s final and a lot of that was due to their fantastic defence. Recently we’ve seen flickers of that resoluteness and it’s sensible to back them against Lille. Because of that, I have decided to go with Gregor Kobel (€5.0m).

Picking a Wednesday goalkeeper was difficult but I think Alisson Becker (€6.0m) stands out. Budget feels irrelevant at this point, so backing a premium stopper isn’t an issue. It wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool kept a sheet against Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazilian would benefit.

DEFENDERS

UCL Fantasy Matchday 11: FPL Reactions’ team reveal 1

Back to Dortmund, one of the first names in my defence is Nico Schlotterbeck (€5.0m). In a backline that has kept two clean sheets on the bounce, he is their standout, especially when considering his elite ball recovery rate. It feels like covering them only once isn’t enough.

Aston Villa possess plenty of differentials. Rather than liking Lucas Digne (€4.6m) specifically, I’m backing at least one clean sheet in their next two games. The Frenchman has impressed me in terms of distribution and could also offer assist potential.

It’s similar for attacking wing-back Alejandro Grimaldo (€5.8m), who has two assists from his previous three games. Although he’s up against Bayern Munich, the Bavarians have been far from offensively convincing this season. They also drew 0-0 in a recent league meeting.

Inter’s record of conceding just once in their eight Champions League matches is quite frankly ridiculous. It also makes at least doubling up on them an easy decision against Feyenoord. To do this, the safest options in terms of minutes are Alessandro Bastoni (€5.4m) and Denzel Dumfries (€5.5m).

Hmm depends on whether you think / predicted lineups have Dango on the wing. Would expect Evanilson CF. If confident enough that he starts then I'd play him over Wood

With Evanilson back, it'll probably be wiser to play Wood. No doubt Dango will get minutes but Wood should play the whole game, especially after coming on late last night and appearing unscathed. I know Wood will be against Man C but at least they are playing at home and Wood seems to score a goal a game. I know in reality that isn't quite true, but it seems like it when my biggest competition in our league has him and I don't!

Probably not v Atletico though. They didn't need qualifiers to get to this stage. Alvarez a decent punt. Real still have the pedigree for CL knockout rounds though, lits of it. Arguably Atletico are their toughest draw at this stage. On form, not just CL form, there's better midfield picks than Adeyemi and Yamal and having 3 from each team restricts your player of the match chances. Yamal can influence the game but that often doesn't translate to FF points. 2/7 goals per game in CL, last La Liga goal was in October. PSG are not world beaters but well capable of scoring home and away. In Sommer's absence, Martinez looks likely to play both legs v Feyenoord for the best CL defence. Arsenal gonna rely on solid defending to get to last 8. Attack is very depleted. Nwaneri, cheap as chips, could be a decent punt. Rogers v Bruges too, but don't underestimate this Bruges team. More CL experience than Aston Villa, who haven't the greatest defence left in the competition.

Fair enough. Although, I wouldn’t look too much into the stats. I’m happy to back my gut pick(s) again since that’s what helped my rank.

    Cunha -> Marmoush ? 1FT

    Joining Isak and Wood

    1. Bess75

My view is that its still a bit risky getting Marmoush in. I am after players that are as close to being definite starters as possible. Having said that, he has being starting and looking good, so up to you if you think the risk is worth it.

Thoughts what to do here with 2FTs (rather not FH29)?
    Sell Cunha but for who?

I am losing Trent as i have an AM chip to play, and it is Palmer's last chance this weekend.

    Got 1ft and 2.3itb

    Attack is

    Salah Palmer Mbeumo Kluivert
    Isak Wood Cunha

    Thinking Cunha/Palmer to Haaland/?

Got 5.3 to spend on the Palmer slot, thoughts?

Loosing Palmer before LEI would be my concern. Have you got a playable 8th attacker, or 4th defender that could allow you to delay a GW and save the hit.

      1. MetallicaJack93

On current form losing Palmer is a good move.Southampton are worse than Leicester and he didn't show up against them. Looks lethargic, like carrying the weight of his mortal Chelsea teammates is affecting him.

I'm planning to get rid next GW but losing a well over 90%+ owned player (at most ranks) before LEI is still a hugh risk.

    2. Bess75
      • 4 Years

Really not to many appealing mids for 5.3 or less, but I'm guessing they will be mostly used from the bench.

Elanga, Minteh, Schade, Murphpy, Damsgaard are some of the more interesting picks at that price.

Going without Palmer is scary but can totally see why.

Maybe get Haarland via Isak. At least Isak blanks in gw29.

      Going without Palmer is not really that scary considering his and Chelsea’s recent form;

      1. Bess75
        • 4 Years
        9 months, 6 days ago

No, I can see why people want to move him on. The fact that he has pretty much 60% ownership is the scary part. He will obviously haul again at some point, and that could well be at Leicester.

Isak has a blank in gw29 and a big final for him to get through. With recent niggles too, I would personally rather lose Isak than Palmer.

        1. MC Hammer
          • 13 Years
          9 months, 6 days ago

Isak has a double in 32 so that could mean selling and buying him back in 2 transfers which is something to consider

        2. MC Hammer
          • 13 Years

        3. GreennRed
          • 14 Years
          9 months, 6 days ago

Isak has decent form.Palmer has no form.
Play your own game and forget about ownership percentages. You could sell Palmer and hd could score 4 v Leicester of sell him and his replacement could do well. But form trumps fixtures and ownership for me.

Mchammer, who would you get in as a mid if I get Haaland in? With 5.3 in the bank, and needs to play 28/29

      oohhhhh, what a choice......

Neto has ok-ish two games coming up and then a horrible run.

Nkunku isn't doing much (apart from vs Southampton) and Jackson could be back by the end of this month.

If I had to chose, I would go Neto due to being that little bit cheaper, so to have a bit more money for other areas, and to allow benching him seem more feasible.

At the start of this season, as they do every season, they said there would be fewer doubles and blanks. As it stands, the next 8 GWs are so decimated by doubles and blanks that it's hard to figure out any kind of plan.

Don't agree but to each their own. I don't care too much about FPL, didn't even bother playing last season, but being in a mega cash league or have a genuine chance of winning something of note, I'd definitely be rooting for myself more than a team that doesn't care about me

I'd say it was pretty shameful to call yourself a fan of a club, then potentially hope for results to go against that club because it gets you more points on a fantasy game.

My original comment was a joke, but it's true that the sport is dying because clubs are appealing to plastics and glory-hunters over actual fans.

    A. Milenkovic (MCI)

    B. Tarkowski (wol)

I think I'd risk the double-up with Cunha out.

How are you handling the BGW29? Don't want to use FH, don't have to, but on the other hand:

    - Newcastle boys will have DGW (or even two) and mostly you have a lot value in Isak and Hall
    - TAA been a really good asset recently with good fixture after the blank
    - The same can be said about Munoz + DGW

tho you can't keep them all + ofc Salah...

      Probably just play 10

Keeping Salah. I'd like to keep Isak but I'm happy to lose Hall for now. Gabriel will come in for Trent for now as I believe he'll outscore Trent over the next few fixtures when the blank is taken into account. Keeping Munoz. Will probably go into GW29 with 10 players as it looks like a classic low scoring week and a waste of the FH. Still have my WC to play if it all goes horribly wrong.

Saving FH for later and using FT's. (I have 5)

Ideally i would want to keep both Munoz & TAA, but that would mean losing Isak... If he is injured though he is an easy sell for Haaland imo.

Losing Salah is not an option in any case. (Too much value + he's essential) Rather lose Palmer & get Haaland.

No FH but played WC a couple weeks ago. Carrying Muñoz & Salah on the bench. Should have 3 FTs in 30 to get Isak back immediately and start to bring in a few more doublers. Gambled on City DGW33 & tripled up already

Yeah I am waiting to double up on them if they beat Bournmouth by dropping Palmer GW30 (and Trent to Gvardiol). Could be just Marmoush. I think they both play better together (Marmoush and Haaland)

They don't even have to beat Bournemouth to get a DGW if Villa beat Preston. I know Villa have some big injuries & a really heavy schedule but I still don't see them losing there. Plenty of nice rotation options in attack now

Yeah, but Villa ar awful away from home who whacked 3 goals past Burnley who have conceded 9 all season, but i think a few changes were made 🙂

I expect Villa to win, but oddly enough, I was personally hoping avoiding Brighton and Preston away more than even Man City / Bournemouth away. (Bournemouth as its most local lol)

Burnley made something like 8 changes; that's why I'm not reading too much into that result

I think there will be 3 fixtures blanking in GW34.

      FWIW, my predictions are.

Preston will beat a knackered and depleted Villa defence ( at Deepdale)
      Bournemouth will beat Man City.
      Palace will beat Fulham
      Brighton will beat Forest.

Anyway I am FH, and play 10 in GW34

If you think all premiership teams go through and Man City will win the FA Cup, thats still 3.

It only if one of Man City or Villa don't win you'll get 4.

And some couple still play GW34.

Its dont a big deal, If you are really stucj you can still WC then.

If you don't FH will you have to WC before GW34?

Which in theory do you prefer in GW29, both for a -4:
    A) Palmer & Gakpo > Dibling & Haaland (play cucurella vs Arsenal)
    B) Cucurella & Gakpo > Gvardiol & Marmoush (Play Palmer)
