The FA Cup semi-final picture was confirmed on Sunday after both Aston Villa and Manchester City made it through their quarter-final ties.

And, as was the case with Saturday’s cup matches, those results will shape the Blank and Double Gameweeks to come in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

BLANK GAMEWEEK 34

Coincidentally, cup victors Villa and City were due to play each other in Gameweek 34.

But as previously discussed, that weekend of top-flight football clashes with the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Manchester City v Aston Villa will consequently be postponed – and both clubs look set to blank in Gameweek 34.

Bournemouth will now not blank in Gameweek 34 as a result of their elimination today. The Cherries entertain Manchester United that weekend.

GAMEWEEK 34: THE FULL PICTURE

GW34 Premier League fixtureStatus
Arsenal v Crystal PalacePostponed
Bournemouth v Manchester UnitedOn
Brighton and Hove Albion v West Ham UnitedOn
Chelsea v EvertonOn
Liverpool v Tottenham HotspurOn
Manchester City v Aston VillaPostponed
Newcastle United v Ipswich TownOn
Nottingham Forest v BrentfordPostponed – but could still stay within Gameweek 34
Southampton v FulhamOn
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leicester CityOn

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 33 – OR SLOT INTO GAMEWEEK 37?

As for when City v Villa will now be contested, it’ll possibly be in the midweek after Gameweek 33. That would make it a ‘double’ for both clubs.

The midweeks after Gameweek 31 and 32 are definitely a no-go due to Villa’s involvement in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Should they defeat Paris Saint-Germain, Villa will also be in Europe in the midweeks after Gameweek 34 and 35.

Above image from Legomane

Gameweek 36 is unlikely, too: that might be needed to house Villa’s Gameweek 37 clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Why would that match be postponed, you might ask? Well, the FA Cup final takes place on the weekend of Gameweek 37. The UEFA Europa League final will go ahead in the midweek after Gameweek 37. Villa and Spurs respectively could still make those, meaning Gameweek 37 is completely out of the question for their scheduled Premier League meeting.

Man City v Aston Villa could, however, fit into the midweek after Gameweek 37.

We hopefully won’t have long to go to find out the rescheduled dates – although not that may not come before the Gameweek 30 deadline.

31 seems ok with back to back doubles in 32&33.

Given that the doubles and blanks aren't that big, you won't lose out by doing it 31-33. You'll get the most fixtures out of that run. Just means you have to sit on any other chips you might have.

I'll be wildcarding this gw now. AM is an even bigger advantage now . Probably on Glasner or Emery

      31 for sure.

Those who used AM in 24 had the point that they have 5 fixtures, so this balances it

    Rate the WC. TC32, BB33, FH34

    Raya Areola
    Gvardiol Gabriel Munoz Burn Kerkez
    Salah Palmer Kluivert Sarr Murphy
    Isak Marmoush Mateta

Like this v much. Similar to mine

So what is the plan for 33?

Palmer isak and Murphy to saka watkins and Rogers?

And what defender do you bench this week?

      1. aapoman
        • 12 Years
        9 months, 2 days ago

Yeah something likd Palmer and Isak to Saka/Haaland and fill the remaining mid/fwd with a doubler. Kerkez spot is the one I'm currently most undecided on. He is just a placeholder at the moment.

Yeah. One Issue with kerkez is you have 4 defenders to play this week....

But this is a great team

            • 12 Years

Yeah I see the issue there. Might just go with Konsa to save the benching headache and have a doubler ready on the bench

All that time working out how to get Haaland, Salah, Saka & Isak into the same WC, and it turns out I may not need to. Anyway, staying with plan A until he's confirmed dead, I have the following strategy for you all to pick holes in.
    WC30
    Raya (Verbruggen)
    Munoz Kerkez Milenkovic(Colwill Livra)
    Salah Saka Sarr Kluivert (Murphy)
    Haaland Isak Marmoush

plenty ITB for Marmoush > Mateta for 32.
BB32 with 6 doublers + Salah (WHU), 2xBou (FUL), MIlenk (EVE), 2xArse (BRE), Haaland (CRY), Bart (LEI), Colwill (IPS)

FH33 from the 4 doublers & selected others

Gives me 8 for 34 (9 if Forest stay there), so easy 11 or 12 with FTs.

    Simples.

As I say, will stick with Haaland unless it looks like he won't make 32.

    Raya
    Gabriel, Muñoz, Kerkez
    Salah, Palmer, Sarr, Kluivert
    Isak, Mateta, Marmoush

    Verbruggen, Murphy, RAN, Livramento

    WC draft. AM 31.

Should I ditch one of the Palace boys, or should I AM Howe?

    1. Zladan
      • 8 Years
      9 months, 2 days ago

I just posted mine below on the same strategy as you if you still have BB for 35/36..

I am going with Howe 31 & 32 and then moving to Pep for 33.

Howe deals with the Newcastle not doubling in 33 issue well. Also means can go in on Palace and not worry about them losing

    2. Zladan
      • 8 Years
      9 months, 2 days ago

Why Kerkez and Verbruggen? I think Martinez is a better play, he might double in 36 when Raya has LFC.

Also Milenkovic/Aina are better than Kerkez for the potential future double should it not fall in 34. Also a nice Bb option in 35.

Kluivert still one of the best midfielders in the game with good fixtures.

Agree. I will probably hold Kerkez, but time is pretty much up for Bournemouth players. No room to keep Kluivert much longer, he needs to become Rogers or someone similar.

Now if you're getting players in that have a good 30 fixture, or if you think you'll be priced out by 31.
I'm still thinking to wait, just in case there is a Haaland update.

Which is the best Palace combination for game weeks 30 - 33?

    A) Sarr and Mateta

    C) Mateta and Glasner

    I already own Miunoz.

    1. Zladan
      • 8 Years

      A

Not a fan to Glasner now… Howe to Pep is the play I think for AM.

NUFC players you want to move on for 33, Howe makes that easy. City you don’t really know who to own outside Gvardiol and Marmoush, so safe triple up with Pep then.

How do you like this WC?

    Raya Areola
    Gabriel Gvardiol Munoz Burn Digne
    Salah Palmer Kluivert Sarr Murphy
    Isak Mateta Marmoush

0,5m in bank. Palmer would become Saka in 33 or used as a cash cow to upgrade Marmoush to Haaland.

    TC 32
    BB 33
    FH 34

    Thoughts?

I'd look at replacing Raya with Sels as Arsenal's defence isn't as watertight as it used to be and you risk losing 8 points if they concede. Plus Palmer's form has dropped off a cliff, so I would bring in someone now who has the potential to outscore him, like Bruno. You can ship Bruno out for Saka later if Arsenal have a double game week.

    WC31, BB32, FH33 is the plan

If you swap Haaland for Marmoush, you'll probably want him back when he's starting - and certainly by GW33 if it's a short term injury. And you'll probably want to swap Wood out anyway. So if minimising transfers, I'd be inclined to swap Wood for Mateta.

Read too quickly. You're planning WC31 so can bring in whatever then. Assuming Haaland misses GW30, I'd probably still go for Mateta against Sou over Marmoush. So swap Wood for Mateta.

Yeah, the ability to FH Haaland in for the double doesn't make it any easier to know what to do either!

Wood > Mateta does look to be the move though. I don't know that I want to take a hit to move Haaland to Marmoush.

    Sorry. Bottomed earlier article.

    Latest WC30 draft:

    Raya
    Kerkez Munoz Neco
    Salah Kluivert Sarr Murphy
    Isak Mateta Marmoush

    Areola Saka Burn Konsa

    7.6m itb

Plan to swap out Marmoush for Haaland as/when looks like the Norwegian starts definitely want whichever starts for LEI.
That leaves 0.1m, which would allow me in likely DGW33 to bring in Timber for Kerkez by replacing Murphy with Enzo.

    So 3xPalace and 3xNewcastle for DGW 32 and 3xPalace, 3xArsenal, 1xCity, 1xVilla for DGW33. FH34. BB GW33 or GE38.

What do you think? Too fiddly? Defence too light? Is Konsa actually with having?

My WC team with Haaland was looking great and had 0 ITB. Now it feels so so

Nice. Beginning to think something like this is a lot less bother - and probably more effective - than trying to work things with Haaland.
