With the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline nearing, we’re hearing from our panel of guest writers. Here, three-time top 500 finisher FPL General talks through his Gameweek 38 team.

GAMEWEEK 37 REVIEW

Let’s just say that Gameweek 37 wasn’t a good one. The Troops dropped from 24k to 33k, which isn’t ideal at this stage of the season. But the desired top 50k finish should still happen, barring a disaster on Sunday.

Ismaila Sarr (£5.6m) made way for Morgan Rogers (£5.8m), while a late four-point hit was taken to bring in and captain Ollie Watkins (£9.1m). Thankfully, the departing Alexander Isak (£9.4m) didn’t feature, as Watkins only grabbing an assist could’ve brought an even bigger drop.

Meanwhile, both William Saliba‘s (£6.5m) injury and the Kevin De Bruyne (£9.6m) miss summed up my Gameweek. Let’s hope the final day goes a bit better.

              As you both (and the majority of active players) will have Raya, then it’s not really double Arsenal defence. I actually think Livra, Gvardiol and Kiwior are the best 3 defenders to have this week. I’d be interested to know who you have that means you are benching one of Kiwior/Livra? Kerkez maybe?

      Toin cross between KDB to Bowen and Marmoush to Evanilson. Probably Evanilson out of them, hard to know what KDB will do in this game he’s been so close the last few game weeks. Not owning Bowen has also been annoying as hell for people who don’t recently.

      Probably too template to move up to top 10k unless Konsa/Kiwior hit a 15 pointer. It's a good team, though.

      If you have the appetite for risk, bench Gvardiol (95% owned) and play Munoz in what should be an open game at Anfield.

      Or play Ruben over Gvardiol and hope for a goal while still covering the CS.

      Salah (c) is a no-go as will be heavily backed, so may as well sell him.

        Yeah you’re probably right. Problem is that I’m not sure I’m convinced on any differential. I think Salah is by far the best captain this week unfortunately. Hasn’t been in great form. But two teams in party mood and Salah gunning for some records.

        That’s the transfer I am currently on. Just afraid Isak will start and be massively up for it given the importance of the game.

        If I do go for Evanilson, then my final decision of FPL 24/25 will be whether or not Sarr to Saka is worth a -4…?

    I am leading my mini league by 4 points and have the AM chip active on Pep.
    Very similar teams with a couple of differentials. He can do KDB to Saka which I think he will do but i can’t without a hit. He may also/ do Isak to Evanilson for a hit but not sure he would want to do a hit..
    I have Wood which everyone says will be a low scoring game but I can see him getting a goal.
    I could do Wood to Evanilson or I could do Pep to say Iraola to hopefully get a further guaranteed 11 points (3-0 win). My question is then who scores more

      I don't think either are worth doing necessarily no. Rogers is a better pick/similar to the other midfielders listed. Gvardiol is as likely to clean as the defenders. Team must be in a good place.

        Thanks mate It is but I am just short of KDB to Saka. Although I think Nwaneri gets minutes for sure so maybe a blessing in disguise. My team is too similar to the people just above me that's the problem. Feel I need to get a differential. Benching KDB for Rogers at the moment

      Probably X but be careful especially with Newcastle lineups. There are so many liars. Last year people benched Isak on a fake leaks. He scored and assisted in a 4 2 loss to Brentford

        That’s what I’m worried about. To me he either plays in which case he’s worth having or he doesn’t, in which case have at least one good sub ready. Problem is he’s expensive, and that money could be better spent elsewhere!

      I've pulled a 37 point lead back on the last day but I had 3 differentials and I captained Son over Kane when he had Kane. It can happen but it's rare especially with the template so strong. Chances are it isn't happening and if Salah scores and he's captained him it's over. If that's your only care then do it. If not then just ignore him and play as if he doesn't exist

          Mmm depends on your outlook. I'm 30k and annoyed. Aim is always 10k or good profit in cash leagues. Id honestly go for it then. Captain someone he will not own and pray. That would help rank too but who cares if it's 300k or 100k I am sure you see it as a bit of a meh season? That's not a dig btw genuinely my thoughts
