With the new Defensive Contribution (DC) points, extra assist points and bonus points tweaks, you may be wondering how this would have affected the overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points totals in 2024/25.

Wonder no more! The talent that is TopMarx (give that man a pay rise) has done all the legwork.

He’s recalculated the FPL points scores of every single player who featured in the Premier League last season, from the mightiest Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) to the lowliest Ben Godfrey.

Not only that, this new interactive points table gives you a breakdown of:

  • Defensive contribution (DC) points
  • Old/new bonus points totals
  • Old/new overall FPL points totals*
  • The +/- difference in points
  • Each player’s new price for 2025/26
  • The value (points per million/ppm) based on those new prices

*Additional assists – there would have been 41 in all – are factored into these new overall points totals.

Members of Fantasy Football Scout can see the revised totals of every single player via the link below – but we’ll do a bit of a preview in this article too.

REVISED: TOP 10 FPL POINTS SCORERS

Here’s how the recalculated overall top 10 looks…

Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) is the biggest beneficiary here, despite losing out slightly in the bonus stakes. It’s his defensive contributions (DC) that really stand out: he’d have gained 22 points from these in 2024/25.

He’s the only new entry into the top 10 compared to last season’s original points tallies. Erling Haaland (£14.0m) is the man to drop out.

No one in the game, not just the top 10 but also overall, would have been worse off than Chris Wood (£7.5m) and Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) under the new rules. Still, -6 points is a relatively insignificant drop and they remain in the top 10.

TOP FIVE DEFENDERS

Lurking just outside the top 10 overall is Nikola Milenkovic (£5.5m). He’d have benefitted from a whopping 34 extra points last season, mostly through DC.

He would have finished as the top-scoring defender, with Murillo (£5.5m) in second. Murillo outdid his centre-half partner in terms of defensive contributions.

Milenkovic would also have scored more points than Haaland (179 v 178) under the new scoring system!

TOP 10 BIGGEST RISERS

In terms of who benefitted most from the changes last season, Milenkovic is again just outside the top 10.

James Tarkowski (£5.5m) is the DC poster boy. In fact, he would have risen from joint-26th in the defenders’ points table to eighth.

Moises Caicedo (£5.5m), meanwhile, would have risen from 58th in the midfielders’ standings to 28th.

Pre-emptive pricing, this one - clearly expecting him to move to City or Newcastle.

Makes you wonder why they didn't do similar with Guehi.

Very likely he ends up at Liverpool, otherwise Palace could lose him on a free transfer next year.

He'll be in my starting squad.

Even if he doesn't he should've been 5m. There's no reason for him to be 1m less than Munoz.

5 cheap and potentially underpriced defenders
    Watkins placeholder for Gyökeres

    Kelleher (Kinsky)
Gusto Aina Udogie (De Cuyper Konsa)
    Salah Palmer Wirtz Rogers Kudus
    Watkins Pedro (Kroupi)

Personally if I was having a forest defender it would have to be Murillo at 5.5 hence the reason why I'm not having him.
Wan-Bissaka is a good one too.

Nice. Though double Villa necessary? No Newcastle/Ars? Guess it's either Palmer or Saka.

What issue is it, Deu? I can pass it on again (if it's something I can do myself, I will, but my late nan probably had more technical know-how than I).

Thanks Neale. When I click on 'my profile', it takes me to the URL https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/wp-admin/profile.php with the message 'Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.' Something's gone wrong in the backend, perhaps when someone from FFS was trying to change my username in the past. Though it worked for a long time with this username before the issue started. I think we'll need a technician of some kind 😀

    Kelleher

      Looks pretty good.

I have my eye on a 4.0m Burnley def - could be handy for GW2 when the fixtures are tricky for other teams.

I think I prefer starting with Palmer over Saka, and I don't much like Caicedo.

      The rest looks decent.

Yes. Tempted by Palmer over Saka but need to find 0.5m saving to fund. Caicedo purely on the back of his DC last year. Without that, inclined more towards Tavernier. Could downgrade but midfield pickings at 5m look slim.

    Kelleher

    Munoz Murillo Colwill Kerkez
    Salah Sarr Palmer Elanga
    JSL Isak

    Valdimarsson, Caicedo, Esteve, Obi

Thinking about Munoz to Lacroix for extra 0.5, and not 100% on Sarr or Elanga but overall fairly happy

I'm here atm. I'm wary on Chelsea's pre season so might drop Pedro if I feel they aren't quite ready.

    Verbruggen Areola
    VvD Gvardiol Udogie AWB Rodon
    Salah Palmer Fernandes Kudus Baleba
    Pedro Wood Piroe

It's a bit unadventurous but it will definitely not be terrible. Will consider Fernandes > Wirtz or Pedro/Wood > Solanke/Mateta as we get closer.

But I'm pretty happy with the defense and GKs and the plan is BB GW1.

I find official FPL social cringe-worthy. Here is an example: https://x.com/OfficialFPL/status/1947985431234007194

    My over-the-top reaction:

    1. PL is so corporate. Yet here they are presenting as 'of the people'
    2. Who are they to judge creativity? -- For various reasons, including their own over-sensitive censoring of team and league names
    3. Team names can only be 20 characters, so they are posting names that can't be used (where are they creating/copying this content from?) E.g. 'Gvardiols of the Galaxy' would be 'Gvardiols of the gal'
    4. Why does everything have to be the 'most'? It doesn't work here imo. Sounds like it was written by a marketing protocol or AI for maximum engagement
    5. Trying to be all buddy-buddy with the plebs while feeding off its users' data and after making the site less user-friendly
    6. This kind of content used to be created by the public. Grassroots support. Now FPL is taking the lead, creating a sanitised exemplar for others to follow. Yet it has an air of begging to be cool. All the while, tooting their own trumpet
    7. The biggest FPL content creators are now part of this corporate club, publishing pre-prepared content and tooting the trumpet for the overlords!

I don't spend much time on Twitter or engage with brands beyond what is out there on the street and wrapped up in any media I digest, but I'm sure this is par for the course. Just think it's good to voice some discontent sometimes if we are just going to allow it 😀 Remember, you can always read a book.

Would have voiced my discontent if I had twitter. My feedback probably goes straight to their junk mail.
What's the general consensus in the comments on posts like these? I would hope most people are expressing something about what a bottle job this season has been?

Is Ragabolly still on here often?

I can't use my FH on GW2 on the transfer planner, wasn't sure how else to feed that back to him/if he knows?

Don't get this article - what's the point of total point metrics comparing the likes of Haaland (31 starts) with Milenkovic (37 starts) ..why not just use points per match/start?

Have I missed something, or are we unable to browse the player list in transfers this season without first removing a player?

Yeah it's ridiculous. They really need to fix that

Yeah, it is ridiculous Bobby. I find it frustratingly clunky.

    Feeling pretty good about this:

    Kelleher - Verbruggen
    Gvardiol - Gabriel - VVD - AWB - Esteve
    Salah - Palmer - Rice - Kudus - Malen
    JP - JSL - Evanilson

    Do your worst!

Any suggestions to help me out here. Looking for an FPL web site where I can save a team and then see who each player is playing in the subsequent GWs ie beyond GW 1.

It also links directly to your user ID and allows you to make multiple plans of action if you create an account. Also takes chip usage into consideration plus gives something like a 0.3 to 0.5 lee-way on budget to be pre-emptive on prices. I think it's fantastic to be frank. You can also compare "Plan A" vs "Plan B" in a very clear manner once both plans are made

In the top left you can change to fixture, if that's what you want.

        So who won the match?

        Arsenal one nil ...

        Or Milan 6-5?

        Or it just doesn't matter.

Thoughts on this latest draft? (Might BB on GW1)

    Vetbruggen (Kelleher)
    Guehi-WBK-Udogie (VVD-Konsa)
    Saka-Salah-Wirtz-Kudus-Cunha
    Welbeck-Watkins (Beto)
