Following our look at £4.5m options, £5.0m-£5.5m picks and mid-priced contenders, let’s complete the analysis of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forwards with those costing at least £7.5m.

In our position-by-position guides, we’ll analyse the main players fighting to make managers’ opening squads.

OVERVIEW

Which Newcastle assets to buy before Double Gameweek 32?

As you’d expect from premium assets, four of last season’s best seven forwards came from this price bracket. Alexander Isak (£10.5m) led the way on 211 points, a number beaten by three midfielders.

A couple of the others were hampered by injury, whereas Cody Gakpo (£7.5m) could’ve built upon 10 goals and five assists had he not been restricted by Liverpool rotation.

So the main disappointments were Nicolas Jackson (£6.5m) and Darwin Nunez (£6.5m). Chelsea’s frustrating forward had some good moments but ended up missing 21 big chances, while the Uruguayan only started eight times.

At the time of writing, there are 12 players now within this price range.

None look likely to leave the Premier League, despite the media’s determination to unsettle Isak. And while there are rumours constantly linking Yoane Wissa (£7.5m) with an exit, we’re talking domestic switches.

Erling Haaland (£14.0m)

Wednesday team news 4

Despite having his worst of three FPL seasons, it’ll still cost £14.0m to buy Haaland. That’s to deter managers from having both him and Mohamed Salah (£14.5m).

Then again, even a ‘bad’ campaign brought 22 goals, the joint-most shots on target (59, see below) and second biggest expected goals (xG, 22.01) tally.

Best £7.5m+ forwards for FPL 2025/26 1

Not that it tells the whole story. Back-to-back early hat-tricks helped the Norwegian reach a phenomenal 10 goals by the end of Gameweek 5. But, out of nowhere, a huge barren spell for both himself (three strikes in 13) and Manchester City removed the invincibility.

At least that storm looks to be over. The team picked up some late form to secure Champions League qualification, since adding Rayan Cherki (£6.5m), Rayan Ait-Nouri (£6.0m) and Tijani Reijnders (£5.5m) to their squad. Rodri (£6.5m) is back, too.

A good start versus Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur precedes the Gameweek 6 clash with Burnley. If Haaland can start like last time, suggesting he can return to the average of 40 attacking returns in each of his first two seasons, Haaland could become hard to resist – especially at a cheaper price than Salah.

Ollie Watkins (£9.0m)

Very similar. I’ve gone McNeil kudos baleba and gyo. Instead of wirtz, rein, James and fullkrug and slight variations of the cheap defence. Up to now anyway.
I do like the James route in to Leeds can only get to Leeds through the two 4.0 defence picks at the min.
Really want a united pick but arsenal first game putting me off but would be amad or dorgu.
Another way I’ve come at is wirtz kudos baleba and two cheap forwards Beto and piroe but feels light up front but for halland.

Based on what we currently know Haaland Rodri Gvardiol.
And even then Rodri might need gentle introduction and Gvardiol will see the odd benching when Europe starts.
All the others are a punt of some kind, with some riskier than others.

Lifetime stats of 51 goals in 336 games doesn't suggest he'll be prolific.

As a Milan fan, I know full well his capabilities, last season he was given the freedom to attack and smashed it. Whether Pep gives him that license is a different story, first Milan season he was played more defensively

Not quite sure. For me I started visiting the site less frequently when the Pro Pundit filler started. I also miss former articles like line up lessons, say what, big numbers etc.

There’s also trolling which makes me less likely to come on at times.

        On being more nailed, yes.
On having a better creative outlet behind him (unless he is asked to be OOP playmaker) not really.

But I already checked my rotation for first 8 GWs. Bergvall fits same as Malen. Question is if he could outscore him. I think I will punt on Bergvall with Malen being so uncertain starter in general public view.

Top teams to pick FPL players from:

    Liverpool
    Arsenal
    Aston Villa
    Crystal Palace
    Notts Forest (especially defensively)

Teams to watch how they settle:

    Newcastle United
    Manchester United
    Spurs
    Brentford
    West Ham
    Everton
    Bournemouth
    Brighton

Teams I'm happy to swerve for now:

    Chelsea
    Man City
    Wolves

The rest to keep an eye on:

    Fulham
    Leeds
    Sunderland
    Burnley

Which team has looked decent pre-season that I'm overlooking?

This helps focus the player pool for me.

      Brentford
      West Ham
      Wolves

All massively struggle until all 3 managers inevitably get the boot IMO.

As an Irishman who watched Stephen Kenny's reign as manager, anyone part of his staff should've received lifetime bans from working in football ever again.

Keith Andrews won't last long. Especially without Mbuemo & Wissa to bail him out.

        Palace should be decent

        Manchester United look stronger too.

West Ham could be okay along with Everton.

        Newcastle could be fine too?

I've factored opening fixture difficulty into this.
Can also add Arsenal to my list.

I'm happy to take that edge

I started with Palmer last season but punting on Saka this...

Happy to go into the Chelsea attack but will swerve their defense.

Arsenal should easily drop into "watch how they settle" bracket. Not one attacking player ticks all the boxes for now and fixtures are bad for defence until gw7

Yeah, you maybe right and that might be my blinkers with Saka and Rice but I suspect they'll be strong again.

I've not got their defense at all.

I guess we'll see in the Super Cup against PSG but you'd have to think Solanke is a big doubt to start GW1 now. Even if he's available he'll by far behind in terms of fitness.

It always depends on your combinations

I prefer Sels + N.Williams to Sanchez + Colwill due to Neco's mix of xA and DCs, for example, while the GKs are more similar in terms of points per match

Switching from salah to haaland allowed me to fit a 6.0 def in.

    Sels / 4.0
    Ait / Wan B / Konsa / Kuyper / 4.0
    Palmer / Wirtz / Rogers / Enzo / 4.5
    Watkins / Haaland / Pedro

Ait could be any 6. I do really like city's early fixtures though, so he's very tempting.

Started last season with a very cheap defence and it worked wonders, leading to my best ever finish, may do the same again!

    Kelleher
    VdV Konsa Rodon
    Salah Palmer Bruno Wirtz Rogers

    Vald Guiu Reinildo* Esteve

*whichever 4m Sunderland defender nails down their spot

We know they will likely get extra points from DC, but we don’t know how many cs’s, attacking points or bonus they will get. You can’t possibly say they will be better value than mids and strikers.

Yeah that’s who I’d downgrade but to Eze/Mateta, no 6’s interest me with their fixtures but would like Sanchez Williams over Kelleher and one of the 4’s.

Landed on this. Taking a risk that Salah, Haaland won’t show value early doors.

    Kelleher
    Gvardiol Cucurella Porro
    Palmer Saka Gakpo Rogers
    Gyokeres Bowen(C) J.Pedro

    Petrovic Carvalho KLP Rodon

I do not plan any chips for the first 4 gameweeks, minimum.

It's the fixtures, really. Spurs had even more upheaval after a bad season, yet they appear in more RMTs because of their better starting fixtures

There'd have been more punts if the fixtures were better. An easier example is Palace

    Pickford-Areola**
    Konsa-DeCuyper-Colwill-N.Williams-AWB
    Salah-Palmer-Gakpo-Anderson-Ndiaye
    Welb-Solanke-Bowen

They don't have any other LWs. Premium defenders don't have a good GW fixture, besides Pool, rather Gakpo or any other MID over premium defender.
