Jack Grealish (£6.5m) hasn’t been an appealing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) option for some time now – but does a loan move put him back on the Fantasy radar?

And, just as importantly, what does his arrival mean for FPL’s most owned Everton player, Iliman Ndiaye (£6.5m), and the budget-friendly Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£5.0m)?

We weigh everything up in our Moving Target article.

GREALISH: THE FPL HISTORY

Checkered, is probably one way of reflecting on Grealish’s FPL history. There’s been as many so-so seasons as decent ones, not helped of course by being prone to rotation under Pep Guardiola.

Really, at City, there was only one half-season – the second half of 2022/23 – when he was alive as an FPL asset. Eight returns in nine matches was a high point as he steered City to another Premier League title.

So, it’s his time at Villa that perhaps deserves a closer look in this article.

An average of 5.2 points per game (5.9 before his season-interrupting shin injury!) in 2020/21 was better than any current £6.5m-and-under midfielder managed in 2024/25:

IS ‘VILLA GREALISH’ SET TO RETURN?

Grealish

Playing in the half space on the left, given freedom to roam, create and win free-kicks, and on set plays: that summed up Grealish’s time at Aston Villa.

If all turns out well, that’s what we can expect at Everton, too.

Made to adapt to play the Manchester City way under Pep, now Everton may be fitting around Grealish and his natural game.

“Maybe it was my mistake to play him as a winger. But in Aston Villa, he started from, I would say, the left position, the winger position, and after going more inside. Here it’s a more fixed position, more in the places.” – Pep Guardiola on Jack Grealish, speaking in December 2024

“I think we’re getting him at a good time because he’s experienced, he understands the Premier League, and we’re all fully aware of the levels he’s capable of performing to.

“I know Jack’s ambition is to get back into the England squad, so hopefully we can help him achieve that over the course of the season.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him and providing a platform for him to show the best version of himself.” – David Moyes on Jack Grealish

“I think that’s the main thing, to have a fresh start. I just felt it was the right time to move on and try something new.

“When I spoke to the manager, he says he wants me to, in the final third, be creative. And I feel like I want to have that way about me where it’s like I was before, where I had no fear. Sometimes you will lose the ball and miss chances but then also, you want to be able to play that killer pass and have an end product. So that’s the main aim.” – Jack Grealish after signing for Everton

Quite easily. Chelsea tax. Morata, Lukaku, Werner, Jackson, Nkunku. I now have a rule about not picking Chelsea strikers

Are you referring to PSG in this instance?

Because Spurs were the ball playing team for 75minutes of the game to be fair

Nah, PSG had 75% of the ball and made 4x more passes.

Your looking at stats and not watching the game is what I get from this comment. It was all Spurs, PSG weren’t in the game. Spurs were allowing them have possession that was their game plan and playing on the counter

So Spurs were allowing them to have possession but were still the ball playing team? Haha, time to stop replying here I think...

Spurs were the team in control and attacking and with the best chances was more so what I was getting at. PSG had possession passing sideways and not threatening at all until the last 15minutes.

Exactly, the ball playing team. Not sure where you are going with this?

Spurs were great and did what they could for almost a full game, but I prefer watching PSG since they had the ball and tried to play.

                    “Tried to play”

Spurs were the better team? Meh, let’s agree to disagree and move on

But yes, “ball playing” is admittedly the wrong way to phrase Spurs play

Thoughts on this BB GW1 followed by WC GW2?

    Sels Verbruggen
    Cucurella Frimpong RAN Porro Milenkovic
    Palmer Wirtz Gakpo Reijnders KDH
    Watkins Bowen Pedro

I would wait WC at least until the first international break to see what happens with Isak, Eze etc.

If you want to use a chip in GW2, FH is better. It's quite a viable strategy if you think Arsenal will destroy Leeds.

Replying to the article, as an Everton fan I would say that Ndaiye is the most nailed player in the side.
I would predict the 4231 you wrote, except with a new winger instead of Alcaraz.
Gana or garner will be paired with kdh

I don't understand, in the article, how Grealish playing as a no.10 and drifting to the left flank "tallies" with the Athletic saying he is predominantly seen by Everton as a number 8. I mean, there is an overlap, but...
