Liverpool v Bournemouth team news: Ekitike, Wirtz, Frimpong + Kerkez start

Gameweek 1 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) gets underway shortly, with champions Liverpool at home to Bournemouth.

Kick-off at Anfield is at 20:00 BST.

Most FPL interest will be in Liverpool.

Their starting XI is the same one that lined up against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, with one exception – Alexis Mac Allister is deemed fit enough to start in central midfield, so Curtis Jones makes way.

Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike make up the front four.

Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are part of the backline, with no sign of Conor Bradley, who missed the end of pre-season with a muscle injury.

Ryan Gravenberch is suspended as a result of his red card on the final day of 2024/25.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola includes new signings Djordje Petrovic, Bafode Diakite and Adrien Truffert in his starting line-up.

£4.0m FPL defender James Hill is benched.

Justin Kluivert remains out, so David Brooks joins Antoine Semenyo on the flanks behind Evanilson.

        No… that’s not how it works. Even if you’re saying Salah cost is/could be the same as two other players you still have to factor in the second player.

        It will always be Salah + X vs Y + Z

        Plus you have to factor in captain. That said, who cares. You don’t want him, don’t have him.

        I mean there's literally zero other explanation for it. Salah's every touch was a misplaced pass. Gakpo was Liverpool's best attacking player by a mile.

        Both scored 1 goal. No other explanation for him getting a higher BPS score.

        Yeah I’m still dubious about Salah, have been all preseason. Impressed how close he got to defcons when he was anonymous 95% of the game, and played poorly overall. Looks like heavily investing in, and captaining, mids is the way to go

        Obviously no Salah looks okay at this point.
        Ekitiké captainers should be very happy with this.
        Palmer and Haaland (C)'ers will be hopeful (I am).

        From 2 -> 8 points out of nothing is annoying, but I am even more annoyed with the 59 min subbed Frimpong.
