There’s one more Premier League match to come on Sunday.

It’s Manchester United v Arsenal, where the action kicks off at 16:30 BST.

Mikel Arteta has mostly named the same team he sent out against Athletic Club last week.

The only alteration: Ben White in for Jurrien Timber, who had been out for a considerable period and only returned at the end of pre-season.

Viktor Gyokeres starts, with Kai Havertz on the bench.

As for United, Andre Onana has been dropped, so Altay Bayindir starts in goal.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha also feature from the off, but Amad Diallo and Benjamin Sesko are only named among the substitutes.

Mason Mount gets the nod, potentially as a false nine.

LINE-UPS

Manchester United XI: Bayindir, Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw, Dalot, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu, Mbeumo, Cunha, Mount

Subs: Heaton, Fredricson, Heaven, Maguire, Mainoo, Ugarte, Amad, Sesko, Zirkzee

Arsenal XI: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Zubimendi, Odegaard, Rice, Saka, Martinelli, Gyokeres

Subs: Kepa, Mosquera, Timber, Lewis-Skelly, Merino, Nwaneri, Trossard, Madueke, Havertz

Arsenal need a new LW. I don't think Martinelli will kick on and replicate season 22/23. Probably a mix of him and Arteta setup

So obvious they need an upgrade on Martinelli yes here we are 2 years later and he is still first choice LW 😆

CF was more of a priority but with Gyokeres signed, LW is the next position to improve

Both CF and LW have been a priority for long enough to still be waiting for an upgrade on Martinelli, he just isn’t good enough.
Arteta will probably sign another CB and CM before he admits he was wrong and buys a new LW.

Arsenal looking turgid. Lucky howler from Bayindir for a free goal. Saka and Gyokeres poor so far. Ode looking lively but little end product.

United players looking far more dangerous. Mbeumo, Cunha, Dorgu and Bruno all heavily involved offensively.

Arsenal finally signed the striker they need but not actually using it to their advantage. He is making good runs and lines but no support really or anyone running into the spaces he is creating

They scored from a corner if that’s what you mean. Otherwise it’s been a complete tactical overhaul. Wingers stay inwards and a lot of long balls are being played.

I can already tell you what is going to happen.
At some point, one of the starting XI will get injured, once again title will go elsewhere and Gunners fans will be blaming the injury and praise Arteta waiting for the next season.

Also nothing easier than predicting who’s not gonna be a champion.

I don’t think United, Sunderland, Wolves, Leeds, Villa, Nottingham will quite pull off the title this year either.

Arteta doesn't play with a striker, Gyokores was a social media signing, fans putting pressure on the club to sign a striker.

Consequently, Arteta focred to change how Arsenal play to accommodate Gyokores.

This will be Arteta's last season.

Not really, he started all the games until Dec 2020 when he started turning up late to training. Arteta moved him out straight away. Played Lacazette the following season but he flopped as well. Jesus was brought it and was fantastic but injuries have kept him down.

                  • 9 Years
                  3 months, 28 days ago

                  Arteta inherited Auba didn't he?
Jesus is a false 9. As I said earlier, Artets doesn't play with a striker. Why did he buy Havertz instead of a striker?
Gyokores was a PR move to appease the fans who were demanding a striker. In this system Saka, Ode and Martinelli are ineffective. You only saw Saka get into the box and have shots after Gyokeres was subbed off.

Arteta such a negative, cowardly manager. Lewis Skelly has been brilliant for Arsenal yet the manager wants to plank 4 centre backs across the back line and play for set pieces. Such an ugly team, they will win nothing.
