Finishing off our Scout Notes from Saturday’s games, it’s all the key Fantasy talking points from Bournemouth v Wolverhampton Wanderers.

STRAND LARSEN + HOEVER INJURY UPDATES

There were injury concerns surrounding two of Wolves’ three most-owned players on Saturday.

A frustrated-looking Jorgen Strand Larsen (£6.5m) was taken off after 77 minutes of the defeat at the Vitality, with Vitor Pereira saying that pain in the Achilles was the source of his irritation.

However, the Wolves boss then added that the striker was not technically injured.

There’s a bit more concern about Ki-Jana Hoever (£4.0m). The budget defender came off after just 34 minutes with what seemed to be a knee injury, although there were no quotes forthcoming from Pereira after the game.

Wolves are in EFL Cup action on Tuesday, so we may get a further update from their head coach beforehand.

Toti Gomes (£4.5m) will be available in Gameweek 3 despite his red card on Saturday. He’ll serve his one-match ban in the midweek cup game.

KLUIVERT BACK FIT

It was better news for Bournemouth, who welcomed back Justin Kluivert (£7.0m) and Ryan Christie (£5.0m) after injury. Both came on as second-half substitutes.

“I think they are players that have given us a lot and they haven’t done a proper pre-season so you don’t really know physically where they are right now.

“Because it’s true one thing is to start training with the team but probably they don’t have the load, the matches of pre-season that the other teammates have.” – Andoni Iraola on Justin Kluivert and Ryan Christie, via the Bournemouth Echo

New boys Amine Adli (£5.5m) and Ben Gannon-Doak (£5.0m) were also on a much stronger-looking bench, the former bright on the right flank on his debut as a substitute. Gannon-Doak was unused.

SEMENYO CHANGES POSITION – BUT BACK IN HIS USUAL SPOT

Despite two goals at Anfield from a starting right-wing position, Antoine Semenyo (£7.2m) switched flanks on Saturday.

It doesn’t seem to make much difference to his output, with four shots against Wolves following up his three from the opening day.

In both matches, there were two Opta-defined ‘big chances’. On this occasion, he couldn’t take them, firing an early point-blank-range effort against the bar and then skying over another effort from 10 yards.

Semenyo was ranked third among all FPL midfielders for shots last season and second for shots in the box. He’s already at the summit this time around:

Strand Larsen injury

Above: FPL midfielders sorted by shots after two Gameweeks (before Monday’s game)

Semenyo at least delivered an assist for Marcus Tavernier‘s (£5.5m) deflected opener.

David Brooks (£5.0m) deserves some praise for his man-of-the-match display, too. He should have had an assist for the second game running: it was from his excellent cross that Semenyo crashed against the woodwork. Despite the arrival of two new wingers, it’s his spot to lose in the Bournemouth XI – although even then, early withdrawals beckon.

Evanilson (£7.0m) owners can count themselves unlucky. He was denied a one-on-one chance early in the second half when he was hauled back by Toti.

SENESI BANKS DEFCON AGAIN

It was a satisfying afternoon for owners of Bournemouth defenders, especially the centre-halves.

Bafode Diakite (£4.5m) and Marco Senesi (£4.5m) not only banked clean sheets but also bonus and defensive contribution (DC/DefCon) points, too.

As we’ve mentioned quite a bit over pre-season, Bournemouth centre-backs were DefCon magnets in 2024/25 – especially the left-sided one.

Senesi is one of just five defenders to have gobbled up DefCon points in both Gameweeks this season. Indeed, he’s made more defensive actions than any other FPL defender so far:

Strand Larsen injury

This is a big week coming up for Senesi, though. There’s one more week of the transfer window left and you’d imagine that Bournemouth will be looking to add another (left-sided) centre-half to the ranks, having lost Dean Huijsen in the summer. Diakite is effectively Ilia Zabarnyi’s replacement.

If we get through to next week and the Cherries still haven’t recruited, then Senesi’s longer-term game-time prospects look much rosier.

WOLVES’ WOES

Wolves are goalless and pointless after two matches but we need context to their results: they’ve faced Manchester City and then played half a match against Bournemouth with 10 men.

Strand Larsen had his chances against City and probably should have scored a header on Saturday, although he’d have every right to complain about a lack of service on either side of that opportunity.

Marshall Munetsi (£5.5m) should have scored early on, while Jhon Arias (£5.4m) – sacrificed when Toti was dismissed – fired inches wide.

But it wasn’t great even before Toti went off.

Wolves have definitely lost something at wing-back with Messrs Semedo and Ait-Nouri gone. Substitutes Jackson Tchatchoua (£4.5m) and Hugo Bueno (£4.5m) were brighter when they came on in those positions, at least.

The defensive saviour from last season, Emmanuel Agbadou (£4.5m), continued his alarming fall in form, meanwhile, despite banking DefCon points.

The question is: can these fixtures breed some form?

Was surprised he wasn't forseen to start in GW1. One of the best players in that team with good numbers and score from last year to back it up. I think he can continue to have a brilliant season and would prefer picking him over Kudus.

Still can't believe the hilarious penalty miss by Bruno yesterday. How he's mentioned in any player of the year debates and awards is unimaginable. Such a talented player he can be pronounced a midfield maestro, but a whiny character and an awful leader. He is single-handedly dragging the team down with his attitude, and for example his reaction to a 7-0 trashing by Liverpool, demanding a substitution, is unworthy of the captain's armband. Can't imagine United breathing more lightly if he remains the captain.

He was clearly rattled by the referee accidentally bumping into him just before the pen.
If someone can compose themselves after something so minor then they’re clearly not ready to be a leader.

Character assassination of a bloke because he cost you 8 fantasy football points seems a little brutal, but each to their own.

I'm no ManU fan, but I think Bruno brings plenty to that team and the PL in general, despite the fact he seems a little petulant sometimes (on camera).

He must only show the captain qualities at United then, as in the absence of CR7 a plethora of players was given Portuguese armband but never Bruno.

My motives are unrelated to FPL and I've been following him for years to make such an assessment. Plenty of people seem lovley 1 on 1, but he's absolutely been a bad leader at that club contributing to one of the worst periods they've ever experienced. His ego is on par with C. Ronaldo, but he leads by example by being one of the hardest trainers and most passionate athletes. Bruno meanwhile never misses an opportunity to distract from football with his personal antics. Time and time again he's proven to be a distracting character on the pitch and someone who is not worthy of the armband.

    I'm fact, with 2 FTs...

    Does

    - Palmer and Guiu to

+ Any £7.5m mid and Pedro make more sense?

I still might play a wildcard in Gw4 but the Chelsea and Spurs fixtures and form seem fine to play into and leaves that option open if Isak moves etc.

if Wood starts drying up then there is rotation risk from Jesus and Kalimuendo.

he’s no longer a 90 min man as they also have Mcatee and Hutchinson to bring on.

he’s good for the next few weeks but once Europe starts I’d avoid

For any Palmer & Saka owners:
Did any of you transfer in Haaland & Anderson last Friday night to avoid being priced out?
I genuinely have no clue what to do with Saka.
Take a -4 for Cunha, or maybe even free hit and stomach the price drops?

Assuming that's in reply to me, the new does hint GW4 is a possibility, and in that case I may just bench

You would expect that to work, who gets benched?

Any word on Palmer injury yet? Considering chucking him and Watkins.
