With Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) nearing, our pundits are starting to finalise their teams ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

FPL General, who has three top 500 finishes to his name, is fully committed to going without Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) and Erling Haaland (£14.1m) this season. He is also committed to a Gameweek 3 Wildcard – which he shares here.

General no Salah Haaland

Gameweek 2 Review

As for many FPL managers, it’s been a rough start to

As is the case for many FPL managers, it’s been a rough start to the season. Having just 87 points in total and a rank of 7.7m wasn’t exactly how it was supposed to play out!

I always say it’s better to have these frustrating Gameweeks early doors rather than at the business end of the campaign when there’s less time to recover from them. We’ve got 36 Gameweeks to go; the first two were just the warm-up. The fightback begins this weekend and the consistent run of green arrows will be sweeter than ever.

My season so far was summed up by Cole Palmer (£10.5m) not featuring, captain Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) and defender Rayan Ait-Nouri (£6.1m) going off injured and Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) sending a penalty to Mars. Nottingham Forest don’t seem to keep clean sheets any more, Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) is getting very little service and Florian Wirtz (£8.4m) might need a little time to adjust to life in the Premier League.

With three injuries, quite a few underperforming picks and just one free transfer available, I pressed the Wildcard button after the Newcastle United v Liverpool game on Monday night…

Gameweek 3 Wildcard

Best of luck this weekend, folks. Enjoy the games!

For those needing a good midfielder for the next three just get Barnes. Otherwise get Kudus.

2 FT’s.. looking for replacements for Rutter and Palmer:

    Best two from the below:

      A
      C
      B
      D

Is there a 5m defcon monster in midfield?

I'm considering Palmer + Watkins > XX + Haaland for a hit this week so I have a confident captain.

I have Pape Sarr already so it looks super slim pickings. KDH, Onana, Stach seems like the most likely and none of them exactly inspire confidence.

If you're confident on Haaland then you may as well take the boring 2-4 points from the cheap mid.

              What's the plan for GW6?

    3. _Ninja_

James Garner at Everton has 25 DCs in 2 games and scored a cracker at the weekend. Could be a decent option. I might do Bruno/Watkins to Haaland/Cheap mid next gw.

or a move like Bruno to Gakpo / Watkins to Ekitike

      1. Tonyawesome69

16/25 defcons was due to him filling in at LB. Mykolenko is back from injury and available so Garner likely fighting for one of the two CM spots

There are also rumours that he was carrying that injury and it got worse. And even without that he lost his form during last season. That has happened to players like Foden (recently) and for example Rashford can't be forgotten. His xGi in first game was only 0.2 and without CVC hus ownership would be much lower. There are "international injuries", but this looks like to more serious one. Muscular injuries need time to heal and more time to heel helps to heal better. There is no need to risk him now. Therefore he has perhaps max. 10-15% chance to feature vs Fulham, not 75% chance to play 90 minutes.

Getting positive comment is also quite rare. You are welcome!

There are different ways to play this game. My personal strategy is to build TV early in the season and sometimes try to be maverick when I see an opportunity. That's why I had reasons to sell him (+ to get Haaland). But I had no other fires.

Having written^ that, there certainly is a case to keep him, save the transfer, and take the price loss.

However, many have Salah and no Haaland. Current WC template has them both. Downgrading Palmer is one way to free up funds to get Haaland in the near future without using WC.

      Saka replacements:

Is Gibbs-White is potent FPL replacement for Saka. I don’t have any Chelsea attacking coverage and I’m not confident on any Man U attacking options this weekend either (and we have city CHE in gw 4 & 5 too).
This game is about goals, assists and clean sheets mainly. Woods is the obvious Forest pick surely but I’ve 2 injured mids in Palmer & Saka and while I could bench Palmer, Saka has to go - but is MGW the way to go?

Cheers for your thoughts mate. The original plan was to bring Bruno in but United are a shambles. Forest away to Arsenal in gw 4 is the toughest defence a team has to face which is why im hesitant on Forest assets.

Yes I saw Scout talk N’Doye up in an earlier article. No Joao Pedro is a problem for me too as my forward line is mis-firing badly (Watkins & Evanilson). If I were to throw caution to the wind- who would have out of MGW and N’Doye mate?

Do you have E Anderson? 0.5 million cheaper and twice 11 CBIRTs and one A. I believe him to be better than N'doye if started every week. N'doye may be better if he is rotated though.

Georgino Rutter and Fullkrug the big issues in my 11 at the moment.

Thinking either transferring Rutter out for Tielemans, Ndoye or Dango Ouattara,
Or Rutter down to a 5.5 or below (Thinking probably Anderson or Stach) so I can scale Fullkrug up to another striker (Igor Thiago/ Strand Larsen). Already have Reijnders.

      Thoughts?

So a few question here. I am on a WC but have no Salah and the cash is really spread thin.
      What would you change?
Plan to BB GW 4 when Wood will go for Ekitike or Matteta and C on Wood this week

      Vicario

      Cucurella Burn Porro

      Gapko Semeyo Sarr Caicedo

      Pedro Haaland Wood (C)

      Petrovic Reijnders VVV Lacroix

Is usine FH popular for this GW ? I can't see a valuable reason not using it as we shouldn't have any blank GW for this first part of the season isn't?

There are 2 players called Sarr in the game, so best to use their initial to establish which one you are referring to.
