In Gameweek 2, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who backed Arsenal assets, namely Bukayo Saka (£9.9m) and Victor Gyokeres (£9.0m), benefited from the Gunners’ 5-0 victory against Leeds United. Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) left it late but picked up a stoppage-time attacking return for the second week running.

Attention now turns to Gameweek 3, where there is a wide spread of captaincy options. As usual, when Salah faces a tricky fixture (in this case, Arsenal), there are plenty of arguments to look elsewhere.

Captain Sensible is here to help!

First, we will assess the on-site captaincy poll. We will then analyse player and team statisticsRate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11.30am BST deadline.

Captaincy Poll

Fresh from his 15-point haul against West Ham in Gameweek 2, Joao Pedro (£7.5m) leads the Fantasy Football Scout captaincy poll. The highest-owned player in Fantasy currently boasts 27% of the vote.

Behind the Brazilian sit Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) and Erling Haaland (£14.1m), separated by just one 0.5% at the time of writing. This is despite both players failing to return last time out.

Fernandes’ Man United teammate, Matheus Cunha (£8.1m), ranks fifth, just behind Chris Wood (£7.7m), ahead of home matches against Burnley and West Ham United, respectively.

Elsewhere, the ever-reliable Mohamed Salah is the only other player to pick up more than 5% backing.

Joao Pedro at the top, nice.
People need to realise that game against WHU is not telling us much, same way as display of Baby Reindeer performance against Wolves in GW1.

Fernandes being top 3 in the captain poll is ridiculous with their form. Amorim is clueless. The whole club is rotten. They are firmly a bottom third team and their players should be priced as such.

And I'm stuck with 3 United players because I'm a hopeless nostalgic.

      Thoughts on the below:

      Sels
      Cucarella | Porro | VdV
      Palmer | Bruno | Wirtz | Gakpo
      Watkins | Pedro | Gyokores

      Dubravka | Rejinders | Andersen | Esteve

No FT. Leaving Palmer in starting X1, He'll either start or be rested.
Thinking to keep him unless confirmed out longer term in today presser as hopefully be back after internationals.

I have three mids I cannot separate - whatever I do, FPL rules dictate I'll leave the highest scoring player on my bench:

      A) Anderson
      B) PM Sarr (also have Johnson)
      C) Ndiaye

      Who to pick for WC:

      A) Gibbs-White

WC on. What would you do? I'm not sure about Martinez and my defensive players. Actually, not sure about anything...

      Martinez
      Livramento - Murillo - Porro - Tarkowski
      Salah - Semenyo - Reijnders - Enzo
      Ekitike - J.Pedro

      Dubravka - Gyökeres - Kudus - Reinildo

I thinking of keeping Rutter, but get rid of Palmer. Sarr is in my radar, but he didn’t look good?

Palace overall had a quiet game, right?

May as well go with Semenyo, but just before the international break seems tricky. Rutter won’t play international I think?

    16. Moon Dog

Woltemade started for Germany in their last two matches against Portugal and France in the Nation's League finals. So he's seemingly 1st choice for Germany. That's quite the Wilson replacement.

Whoever the Isak replacement is, Wissa or Strand Larson, or whoever, I don't think they'll really be an option with a threat like that.

        1. Moon Dog
            3 months, 8 days ago

Apparently their usual centre forward Kleindienst wasn't available due to injury so Woltemade got called up. But still, seems like a quality player.

But his numbers were quite good, weren't they? 12 goals from 17 starts (+11 sub appearances). 0.78 goal involvement per 90 minutes, but the sample is quite small.

Is het really the Wilson replacement? Can't image that Woltemade would come if he is second choice, for a club like Newcastle.

Maybe he will get some sub appearances + cup games + some odd start this season + the starts if Isak's gets injured. Then Isak will leave next summer and they would have the replacement ready.

I think talk of Wilson replacement and Isak replacement is a bit redundant, as it looks like Isak will leave.

Newcastle need to replace the goals that Isak and Wilson scored over the last 3 seasons. It just happens that Isak scored them all last season.

I think Howe will also want a proven Premier League striker, like Wissa, if Isak finally goes. That would take the pressure off Woltemade as he integrates into a new league, just like Howe did when Isak joined the club.

                      3 months, 8 days ago

                      Yeah that makes sense.

In that scenario, neither would be safe to buy until Wissa is back up to full fitness and we see how they share minutes.

What to do guys? Feels like B or C is chasing the most upside, but also some higher risk

                  A) Play Dewsbury Hall, roll transfer, and get into the international break with two FT's
                  B) Dewsbury Hall --> Semenyo
                  C) Guiu --> Strand Larsen and bench KDH

                    A.

Not sure what will happen to Strand Larsen and the bid by Newcastle. KDH has a good fixture coming up against Wolves. He was rested mid-week and still played 10 against Brighton.

Rolling transfers until after the international break is powerful.

Being slow to move cost me big time last season, so keen to pull the trigger on a move today.

                    Thoughts on the below??

                    Sanchez
                    Ait-Nori VdV VVD
                    Bruno Palmer Wirtz Kudus
                    Pedro Gyok Ekitike

                    Dubs KDH WanB DeCuyper

                    1) Palmer & Gyok to Reij & Haaland
                    2) Palmer to Semenyo
                    3) Do nothing and roll to 3FT
                    4) another!

Still some drama to come this window. Next week we'll know the fates of Wissa, Ekitike, Strand Larson, Isak etc, maybe Spurs sign a top AM and a new winger. Maybe City get Rodrygo... I'd stock up on FTs for then. The landscape could be very different next week.

                      Thoughts on this FH team?

                      Sels
                      Tarkowski Milenkovic DeLigt
                      Bruno Cunha Marmoush MGW
                      Haaland (C) Watkins Richarlison

Marmoush is an interesting one. But saw somewhere that he will start upfront with Haaland in a front 2. Also expect City to bounce back..

You are taking this post without a source serious as you want that confirmation bias towards Marmoush on your FH

Another City attacker was always in my thoughts. I think City area going to get a big win against Brighton.

                            Foden or Marmoush...

Marmoush - didn't start GW1, lost when he started in GW2

Foden - missed pre-season and hasn't started a game yet

Wouldn't be surprised if either of them hauled. On a FH can afford one punt. Isn't it?

                              Cheers mate

Normally I love picking a man city mid or two, and being an owner of Marmoush and Cherki, was chuffed to see them start last week Vs spurs. Though they blanked, to see them getting subbed off at 55 minutes, was disheartening and off putting
Second time is a charm I guess.

If you don't captain him, then why are you paying 14.0m?

Need to have one of them in playing 11:

                          1. Diouf
                          2. Hartman
                          3. KDH
                          4. Rutter

Probably Rutter with KDH 1st sub. Sounds like Rutter is at risk of a cameo though, so not sure. But definitely KDH over Diouf and Hartman.

                            Hey, all.

If you were taking a one-week punt, would you go for:

                            A) NFO mid (if so, which one?)
                            B) MUN mid (if so, which one?)

I'm currently on MGW closely followed by Bruno. Ta!

Apparently Brentford wants Max Beier from Dortmund. Thoughts on how would his transfer influence Thiago? Would he gradually replace him as the first striker?

IF Brentford sign him, it's to replace Wissa and I would think this will impact Thiago. Beier has had a full preseason so he will be ready.

Got a few options I am not sure on. What do you think? 2FT's

                            A. Palmer > Sarr (save transfer)
                            B. Palmer > Semenyo + Guiu > Mateta (0.3m ITB)
                            C. Palmer > Sarr + Guiu > Mateta (1m ITB)

                            Thanks

Current team. 2 FT 0,0m in bank

                            Sels (Dubravka)
                            NWilliams Tosin VdV (Andersen Esteve)
                            Palmer! Bruno Salah Wirtz KDH
                            Watkins Pedro (Guiu)

                            Which option you prefer?

                            A. Palmer and KDH to Cunha and ISarr
                            B. Palmer to Cunha and roll the other transfer (play KDH)
                            C. Palmer, Wirtz and Watkins to Haaland, Semenyo and ISarr for -4

Leaning towards A and try to get Haaland in for gw 6 but thoughts well appreciated.
