You’ve probably heard about Joe’s much-liked ‘Goals Imminent’ table. You might listen to his and Marc’s Fantasy Football Scout podcast of the same name. Now, Goals Imminent is here in article form!

Heading towards Gameweek 23 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), these Members Area statistics identify some underachieving players who look ‘due’ for a goal and/or assist.

Naturally, we’ll attempt to assess whether they’re unlucky, suffering a rare blip, or just aren’t particularly good.

LAST WEEK’S SUCCESSES… AND FAILURES

Goals + assists imminent! Who is 'due' in FPL Gameweek 23? 2

While there was optimism that several ‘template’ names were on our goals table – such as Erling Haaland (£15.1m), Phil Foden (£8.6m), Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.7m) – nobody found the back of the net.

In fact, due to injuries, benchings and half-time removals, only four of the nine players exceeded 45 minutes.

Elsewhere, Marcus Edwards (£4.7m) and Patrick Dorgu (£4.3m) scored, exceeding their predicted assists.

GOALS IMMINENT

We have ranked the players by xG delta, too.

After this week I'm tempted to move Guimares on.
Other midfielders are Palmer Enzo Bruno Rice.

Would you go for Rogers or Mbeumo? Or just hold?

Both are decent picks. Fixtures vs Form.

Finally sold for Bruno yesterday, bored of his nothing performances and not even guaranteed 90 mins anymore. So guaranteed score a hattrick against United.

Sold him for Rice last week. Not interested in getting him back either.

Get Bruno instead. Even if Saka outscores him this weekend he surely won’t over the course of the rest of the season.

Never thought I'd see the day when I had five Man City players in the upcoming gameweek against one the worst ever PL teams and not be that confident of a decent return

        Verbuggen
        Gabriel Timber OReilly
        Foden Semenyo Rice Rogers
        Haaland Thiago Bowen
        Dubravka Gordon Andersen Esteve

Last few weeks have been terrible for me

After Chelsea’s game today, I am doing
        OReilly to Chalobah

After this weekend game, I am doing
        Foden to Bruno F

        Who else should I change?

Sitting there with O'Reilly, Foden and Gordon and 5FTs is a sign of actually being too patient.

I'd downgrade Bowen to a cheap 3rd forward (Kroupi/Mane) then bring in Boomo or Enzo for Gordon next weekend.

You have one of those rare teams imo that doesn't need to WC in 24 esp with 5 FTs.

I'd probably look at Gordon + O'Reilly > Enzo + Chalobah, benching Bowen. And then next week your team is basically there with Fernandes in for Foden.

I think he's likely to play. Just rested in Europe but ofc we could find out more later that changes that status.

Why are people so obsessed with Palmer? How long can he be in garbage form before people stop seeing him as a real option? Seeing him in a lot of WCs or people selling Saka to accomodate him (not a fan of Saka as a pick but hes way better than Palmer).

I hope he gets into form because he would definitely be a good pick from 24 but hes shown nothing.

actually less than nothing as he cant even string together a good run of minutes 2 games in a row.

I’m enjoying the fact people are sleeping on the subject, nice differential 9 pointer 😉
By far the best fixtures between now & March & if & when he explodes others will be ripping apart teams with hits to fit him in.

Would you do VVD to Chalo this week?
Just it means that I can't move Ekitike to a mid or switch Saka Potts to Rice Enzo for free next week.
        Thoughts?

Which budget striker, potentially playing them this GW in a bench boost and then they could be useful going forward:

        A) Kroupi (LIV) - decent finishing but early subs
        B) Mane (mci) - 90 mins but playing on the wings, potential DGW in 27 though

B out of the above. Palmer clearly isn't fit, there's speculation about him needing surgery.

Hmm gonna try and predict Pep for this week...

          Haaland
          Doku Cherki Semenyo
          Rodri Silva
          Ait-Nouri Guehi Khusanov Nunes
          Donnarumma

I think this is the lineup. Cherki has looked the brightest spark so I'm pretty confident he starts. What is interesting is how he wants to deploy width in this game. Because Nunes and Ait Nouri have been out, they've been using their wingers for width - Semenyo and Doku played super wide at the weekend. O'Reilly and Lewis are much more prone to come inside so that's how the team was setup to function - except it didn't work.

Nunes being back is crucial since he offers overlapping runs on the right. Ait-Nouri also offers better width than O'Reilly so I think he gets the nod here too but I thought O'Reilly looked decent yesterday so I'm very 50/50 on that call. Then it's about who they want in those attacking areas. I'm pretty sure Haaland starts. It's too drastic with only a few days notice to drop him because he alters the team shape and strategy so much and go with Marmoush especially when results are poor unless he's really struggling for fitness.

2 of Doku, Semenyo, Foden, Marmoush will start alongside Haaland + Cherki. I'm really not sure how it goes but Doku and Semenyo seem the reasonable picks given rotation midweek but they were also part of the really dysfunctional performance on Saturday. I'm gonna stick with them though because with the different roles of the full-backs, and with Cherki as the main creator rather than the lackluster Foden, it could be a shift enough in the setup of the team to allow Doku and Semenyo to be more influential cutting inside.

Let's see what he picks. It could go lots of different ways.

RAN coming back from AFCON startingtwice in four days would surprise me and if Foden doesn't start after being replaced early twice in a row would mean that Pep doesn't rate him any longer

I think you're probably about right there with the lineup.

And I should probably sell Foden, but I just can't do it with Wolves at home a week before I WC.

90min Cherki would be great. Is he the best bet to unlock an improved Wolves defence?

He looks better than Foden as the central creator imo. Not sure if he'll survive the full 90. But if they still need a goal in the 2nd half, they might pull Bernardo and put Foden/Marmoush on and go all-out with just Rodri in the pivot.
