This was a Gameweek littered with outstanding performances, particularly in midfield where the array of talent jostling for spots in our squad now presents a major headache. This week’s bumper edition of “Big Numbers” for members carries out the usual exploration of the stats behind the Gameweek, with midfield options across all the price brackets gaining momentum and our keen interest…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Southampton dominated quite a bit of the game. RVP missed a penalty trying to (do a cocky) chip the goalkeeper and scored his last 2 goals in the final 5 minutes. scored quite decent goals though. kagawa was useless

Can we expect Bale and Spurs to profit with Dembele and Dempsey in the team? Bale's OPTA stats look really good despite the poor run of form.

Would like to do Kags to Ben Arfa and Ba to Podolski, ideally.

If I was wildcarding I wouldn't be going near a poor looking Chelsea defence, regardless of Ivanovic's attacking threat.

I'd rather take a chance on Sterling for £4.5m than El Ahmadi, but you still have some money in the bank so I'd be looking at the likes of Maloney too.

Graham hasn't looked very involved (both stats wise and watching the game) despite Swansea's goal glut, which itself won't continue. I'd consider Lambert whose fixtures pick up soon enough, or Berbatov and his 5 chances created in 45mins.

I just got El Ahmadi as Guthrie was due to fall, likely to get Guthrie back.

Yeah I am concerned about Graham, the fixtures still looking decent. Fletcher, Lambert and Berba are all under consideration.

have managed to upgrade Fellaini to Hazard by downgrading Zabeleta to keep Bale, leaves the defence slightly weak but when Arsenal are the only clean sheet bankers id rather concentrate on the midfield!

    Is this team worth Wildcarding?

    Schwarzer Green

    A.Cole Zabaleta Hangeland Cuellar Demel

    Michu Dyer Kagawa Hazard Miyaichi

    P.Cisse Tevez Adebayor

I am hopefully going to turn that team into THIS, should I wildcard:

    Foster Jaaskelainen

    Cuellar Baines Ridgewell Hangeland Demel

    Michu Dyer Carzorla Hazard Sterling

    RvP Tevez Fletcher

Opinions? Am I being hasty with my wildcard just to get RvP and others in?

That's tough. I think you'll be fine. Schwarzer can run the shop on his own for the next few weeks. With a hit you can get RVP comfortably. I think you're ok 🙂

It's also my defence that I'm worried about. Chelsea and City are both leaky. I also want to catch a few more price rises over the next 2 weeks, and should drop Adebayor, as Tottenham look a little guff. I took an 8 point hit last week, so don't really want to drop any more points :/

If you took an 8pt hit last week, it would be wasteful of that hit to use the wildcard now. There will be periods of the season where you don't use hits. And the price rises aren't great at the moment, wait for the gw7 international break. Ade can easily go with a downgrade and the defenders when the time is right. Chelsea and City may tighten up, and both players have decent goal threat. It's up to you though, using a wildcard now isn't the worst time.

Yeah, you're probably right. It is tempting to get the WC team I put, as it does look impressive! I just don't want to be kicking myself later when that team is priced out of my reach. But FF is a funny old game, you never know how it is going to go! Thanks for your input man!

I'd say this has a lot to do with it. As a madrid fan I'm disappointed with the treatment of Kaka because whenever he does get a chance in the team he generally does well. Not as well as a 65 Million player should, mind you, but just as good as Ozil or Modric today..

Ronaldo and Kaka became almost best mates and I can see Ronaldo being very unhappy with it all.

Guys I highly doubt its about money, he's one of the world's most paid players and he is known for his professionalism, he wouldn't damage the chances of the team doing well to improve the contract he already has.. I just don't see it being much about money.

unless spurs start showing any type of form i refuse to get any spurs players in

it's panning out exactly like chelsea did last season, players being on the bench for no apparently reason (adebayor), weird captain decision (gallas wtf), younger players coming in taking place of older ones (lloris for friedel) and players not having a clue what their role is (bale).

for that reason i'm out (for now)

        Adebayor (lack of match fitness)
        Gallas Captain (big deal)
Friedel > Lloris (Friedel is 41 FFS)
Not having a clue blah blah blah (Opta stats say otherwise, they just didn't convert)

The only way of getting ahead of your rivals is by having the players they don't, just as they hit form. Everyone may well end up being right about dropping Bale but judging from what I've seen, they have not been poor at all in the slightest and a big return isn't beyond imagination.

And for that reason, I am in.

Going by coverage is silly. Right now I wouldn't get in Bale. I would've shipped him if I didn't have a lot of cash in the bank and a player like Taarabt. I think Bale is the most typical form player in the league. When he's not in form, you will rarely see him get more than 3 points. With Adebayor and Dembele in 90 mins per game, I think he will perform better, but Bale has only proved so far that he is able to deliver de nada against fairly poor teams.

I’m currently contemplating using the wildcard, partly to try and generate a bit more value, and partly because I have neither RVP or Tevez, and it’s starting to sting! I made a pretty good start, but this week has hindered me some what and I’m on 205 points so far.

    Currently got a team of:

    Federici, DDG
    Cashley, Baines, Hangeland, Demel, Hooiveld
    Hazard, Kagawa, Yaya, Michu, Howson
Torres, Graham, Defoe (…yeah, I know, a very stupid punt as opposed to picking Tevez to replace Aguero)

with £1.3 million in the bank and no transfers made this week.

Just wondering would people, stick or twist on the wildcard?

    Cheers in advance.

    GW4 team atm:

Friedel (or Federici not sure yet)
    Zabaleta / Rafael / Demel
Michu / Ben Arfa / Bale / Nasri
    Tevez / RVP / Graham

Obviously considering Hazard but I dunno if he is essential as others say, dont think he/Chelsea have performed incredibly hes just picked up points, which I gues you could argue it doesnt matter how he plays if he gets points, what do you think?

Hey guys, hope everyone did well today, quick question:

Got 1 free transfer left (already done Bale to Hazard), would you do:

    A) de Gea > Foster

    OR

    B) McClean > Dembele

    Comments appreciated.

Aww man what a day... RVP(c) missing the pen was as low as you can get when rivals all had Tevez as capt, but what a finish... I can't begin to think how gutted I would have been had it stayed as it was after the pen and with two weeks to dwell on it 😐

However, I am happy that I would never allow myself to behave like the complete tools who swamped the site goading the RVP owners after the pen miss. Pondlife...

Anybody else on here coming to despise the way people are biased towards their FPL teams?

I know Kagawa didn't exactly set the world alight today, but for people to say he was useless or had a 'bad' game is just false.

I'm sure there are better examples out there but it is all starting to annoy me...

There is a difference between how well a player scored in FPL terms and how well they have played generally. Although they will obviously correlate there are situations that arise as mentioned.

I agree. United were poor generally until Scholes came on (or IMO, Nani replaced Well beck and their shape was better).

Kagawa would've benefitted following that change.

Kagawa had some decent moments against the Saints. Two decent efforts at goal and played some nice touches. Slid in a nice throughball to RVP and he would have been in if RVP didn't allow it to hit his heel. Problem for Kagawa is that Carrick and Cleverly don't distribute the ball often enough and quickly enough to Kagawa when he makes his clever little runs into space. I'm sure they'll get better at picking his runs once they play more together.

Berbar is right. But you'd have to say Evra, Vidic, Raphael, Rvp, Valencia etc also had a poor match - Cleverly in particular is neat and tidy but ineffective particularly away from home, but you still have to admit Kagawa played a poor match.

If I owned him I certainly wouldn't be getting rid now when he has Wigan at home next GW.

Totally agree with you on this, I really dislike how people give advice that clearly mirrors how they currently feel about a player or that is directly connected with the exact changes they are making based on popular opinion/games just gone by. It's really not worth listening to half the advice, especially when they're one-liners that show this arrogance about what players you MUST have and players you MUST NOT. Tips of 'get rid of Torres' for example, what is the reasoning? He has scored points and is the only striker in the team.

And as for Kagawa, this was simply not his game to influence, it was the RVP show today, this does not mean Kagawa was ATROCIOUS, he simply didn't influence the game the way he will undoubtedly in the future. Plus give him a break, he got taken off at 60mins.

Agree as regards Kags, as regards advice, if you don't ask for it, you don't get it. So many people who play the game, don't do their own research, and are happy to pick the brains of others.

Probably been asked lots already but will Nolan rise twice before the next GW? Don't actually want him but wouldn't mind making .1 off him!

I am on WC and rejigging my defence no in order to do this. I can see a double rise for him.

So now I have 3 hammers just to make 0.1!

I think he will. I just brought him in for Pienaar, who i had already risen by 0.1m (and hence i got nothing extra)
