This was a Gameweek littered with outstanding performances, particularly in midfield where the array of talent jostling for spots in our squad now presents a major headache. This week’s bumper edition of “Big Numbers” for members carries out the usual exploration of the stats behind the Gameweek, with midfield options across all the price brackets gaining momentum and our keen interest…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My current team:

    Friedel-Schwarzer

    Baines-Rangel-Demel-Zabaleta-Cuellar

    Bale-Kagawa-Dyer-Michu-Yaya

    Tevez-Petric-Torres

    WC team:

    Jussi-Begovic

    Baines-Davies-Demel-Jenkinson-Cuellar

    Hazard-Ben Arfa-Dyer-Michu-Yaya

    Tevez-RVP-Fletcher

I have 0.0 in the bank in both teams so If I won't do it now I won't be able to do it tomorrow because Bale price will drop tonight.Any suggestions very welcome!

    Yaya Kagawa Michu N'Zogbia Hoillet

    Tevez Adebayor Graham

Zabaleta might be rotated, but it's hard to say. He looked like scoring at the weekend, and he's still a City defender.

I don't know why Ivanovic would be rotated, and plenty people playing their wildcards seem to be happy enough to be including him.

Adebayor was hot property all this week with people bringing him in. Soon enough he'll be playing as a lone striker with Bale/Sigurdsson/Dempsey in behind him with Dembele in the mix too, that's a pretty sweet set up.

N'Zogbia doesn't have many positives, but he's still an attacking threat in a Lambert managed team - not the end of the world.

Hoilett I don't know enough about this season.

Nothing a hit couldn't sort out, at worst!

needs wholesale changes IMO. would have cheaper keeper rotations, would have RVP, Hazard/Torres, midfield looks way too light.. and backline the main 2 ivanovic and zabaleta would definitely be rotated more often with the new signings.

Hello all I'd love some advice and help with my team if possible.
    Here's my squad.

    Szczesny, Cerny
    Ivanovic, McAuly, Mertesacker, Figueroa, Demel
    Nolan, Morrison, Toure, Michu, Cazorla
    Fletcher, Tevez, RVP.

Do you think this is a good long term squad.
    Or what about these transfers.
    Cazorla+Nolan/ Morrison --> Hazard+ Maloney ( or another 5mil mid)
    Or
    Toure+ Fletcher --> Berbatov + Ben Arfa

Or does anyone have any other suggestions.
    Thanks

would keep cazorla, looks to have good points in him, you'd probably have to degrade the defense to get in hazard..but this team looks more or less balanced, i'd keep an eye on mertesacker though with kos coming back

There isn't any player close to the quality of Scholes/Pirlo currently. Deep Lying Playmakers are a rare breed at the moment. Note Xavi is a bit more advanced and isn't as good at those long searching balls.

He's 27 for starters so I don't know where you got 'young' from. And besides from that, he's quite average to be perfectly honest with you. Sure he has technical ability, but he lacks in so much else, especially consistency, as can be seen by the fact that nobody snapped him up until now when he was on a FREE transfer.

The truth is there aren't too many options available that can replace Scholes and that's why Fergie hasn't replaced him yet. Moutinho could have been a good purchase but still 25m on unproven talent isn't great. As a Man Utd fan I would've taken a punt on Dembele for 10m + Berba but still, don't feel I've missed out on an amazing player.

Montolivo is a fairly average player.

There's nobody out there, except De Rossi possibly, that is available for a decent price and proven. If you want to replace Scholes(Which Man Utd should've done many years ago), you need to either splash out £30m+, or take a punt on a young player. Sahin, Cabaye and Arteta moved clubs last season, none of them were expensive. Modric and Dembele swapped this year. Man Utd never really attempted to sign any of them. Tbh it seems like Ferguson is happy with his midfield. At least he has got no excuses when you look at the amount of decent options that have moved lately.

Changed the game, allowed us to keep the ball properly and completely changed our shape, even RVP dropped deep to win/collect the ball while he wasn't on the pitch, that's how bad it was. Neither Cleverly nor Anderson are suitable replacements and are both box-to-box midfielders, neither have a decent long pass and are far too eager to get forward for my liking.

Who would you like then 😉 😀

Don't know if you are still about but I saw your comment this morning that you would rather have a bench fodder mid than have points on your bench. How can no points be better than points on your bench? Surely you are better having points on the bench that may become points for your team if you need the sub? 😕

Yeah of course have someone that can get points, but I want someone that costs 4.5 - 5 at the most.

The person i was talking to this morning (if I remember right) Was having to choose between benching 5.5 and 6.5 mids, which seems a waste to me.

Swansea will still play a back 4. And he is second in line for LB. Tate will only play while Chico is suspended. But i see your point, i guess the term 'nailed on' has to be without doubt, but logic says he's nailed on. At 4.0m, if you're on a wildcard, he's worth a shout.

Slight chance of Routledge LB with Dyer and Pablo on the wings, but I doubt it.

    GW4 team:

    DDG
    Ivanovic Hughes Cuellar
    Cazorla (VC) McClean Nasri HBA
    RVP (C) Tevez Graham

Need is very subjective if you ask me. I feel Chelsea have flattered to deceive and I will be surprised if they have 15 points out of a possible 15 after GW5. I still think Hazard will score well but he required a 4 point hit which I am not willing to take after this week's 8 point hit.

Bemba Da...I'm not trying to offend you here but you've said enough to irk me a little.

This is your expert opinion on Kagawa:

'he will be on bench for away games and will probably play home games

away games he doesn’t look very good'

So you are saying, he will be on the bench for one set of games and for home games he will PROBABLY NOT be on the bench. This being United's biggest signing of the summer, behind RVP.

Let me get this straight, you are saying he has a 50% chance of starting home games and 0% of starting away games because 'he doesn't look very good'.

This is after 3 games, where no Man united player apart from RVP and arguably Kagawa himself has really stood out. This level of incompetence on your part with regards to giving advice is highly worrying and frankly getting out of hand.

I rest my case (Lionel Hutz)

I am saying the way united have played this season he looks to be a player which is more suited to playing at home.

Away from home at most grounds he will get bullied and marked out of the game and will not perform. Fergie did the same with nani and will probably play scholes and giggs who have more experience

I brought in Bale for this GW and have shipped him already. The truth is, it wouldn't surprise me if he got double digit scores in both his next 2 games, but the likelihood is he won't. The signs haven't looked encouraging at all and in general Spurs have looked quite toothless.

Kagawa on the other hand, I agree with you. He has looked good and has WIG next game so no real reason to dump.

You can't really expect people to hold on to a 9.5 attacking no show though? He's had 3 weeks and done nothing in a disjointed team. The same as Silva and a host of others.

Cazorla holders get praise for flair when he scores on the third attempt, which may be ott, but Bale's goal threat seems to have receeded game by game, as Spurs look worse.

    Just before his price drop..

A: Bale -> Y.Toure (double city with Tevez upfront)
B: Bale -> Cazorla (get arsenal, lost spurs)
    C: else ?

Bale is my only Spurs player. Their next two games look easy but their form are far beyond expectation. I have no Arsenal now and leaning to get Cazorla for their strong fixture on next gw. Another choice is Yaya as he continuously delivers.. My frontline:

    Hazard - Bale - Michu - Noble - Ahmadi
    RVP - Tevez - Torres

Nice attack, Cazorla sounds right to me.

I have Yaya, but Carzola is a good buy.

I too am interested in everyone ditching Bale with his upcoming fixtures... on the WC so think I will sell him today and then buy him back at his cheaper price. You don't just automatically become crap.

A question though... I am struggling with the GK's. Have had DDG but he is gone now as his rotation left me with no keeper this week. What is the best rotating combo now? Trying to avoid Jussi as I don't want to double up on West Ham defence and I have Demel.

Any suggestions appreciated! Including those that have me doubling up on West Ham if that is the best option!

you can sometimes automatically become crap on FPL, if you were put in nets for instance. The managers and form of a team can mean a player loses his knack for scoring FPL points.

I understand what you mean mate, but Bale has been a proven performer and we are 3 weeks in to the season... I guess I am going ok so can take the risk and not yet chasing points but still...

Any thoughts on the GK situation?!
