With mid-price goalscoring defenders playing such a significant role in Fantasy Football in recent times, we thought we’d delve into the Members’ Opta statistics to help identify those sides who are posing the biggest threat in the air from set-pieces.

We took a closer look at the “Aerial Duels” statistic, calculating the percentage of duels won so far for each team in the Premier League and then put these together with set-pieces won and a measure of deadball delivery. Throw in some specific player stats that help analyse the key individuals, and you have our handy guide to the teams that lead the air raid and the defenders most likely to benefit.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Considering following team for WC:
    Foster (Gilks)
    (Alex) Coleman Elmo (Alcaraz) Jara
    Fabs Nani (VDV) Adam (Ferguson)
    Tevez Drogba Bent

Ones in bracket are tentative. Had to get rid of Malouda to get this team. RMT please

Coleman is on borrowed time in Everton team, general opinion on here is that he has 2 games before Pienaar comes back to midfield and he can't wrestle the RB spot from Hibbert or Neville, would look at Simpson instead and use .5 to upgrade Ferguson to Albrighton or Barton, don't fancy that much money tied up in strikers but all are goal a game guys I suppose

    Hey guys RMT?

    Elmo, O'Shea, Dann (Perch, Foley)
    Nani, Arshavin, T.Cahill, Ferguson (Diame)
    Drogba, Tevez, Berbatov

Curious to get some feedback, thinking of getting rid of Arshavin and Diame for Van der Vaart and Walcott? What do you think?

The days of teams automatically playing their best 11 in the CL are over. Utd will play Evans and Rafael at home to the group whipping boys and Arsenal will do the same with their equivalent players. The premier league is far more important to both teams at the moment and Arsenal have looked rudderless without Fabs. I am waiting 'till friday, but i'm 99.999% certain Fabs will start, this is like the 'Rooney will be rested' posts that littered every single GW last year.

it's only chelsea that want the champs league then, malouda is the only one we have to worry about. that would simplify things...

i'm basing my arguement mainly on that if wenger can keep him in cotton woll, he will, he's had a few injuries in a short space of time and one of the reason fabs wants to go to barca is so he's not risking a career threatening injury as much as playing in our over-physical, less technical league with no winter break and far too many fixtures. I'd go to spain as well, if he did his cruciate over here cos some de jong/henry smashes him it could cost him millions, or the chance to play ur entire career at the top of the game, etc.

it's rubbish, I agree, Fabregas needs some game time under his belt, at home, where Arsenal have, to use your word "rudderless" (I always use this word re a Cescless Arsenal actually), struggled, of course he plays. This nonsense talk ends.............HERE.

If Fab gets one point i'm gonna love it to all the over-excited folk who thought they'd get Fab in for 11.8, his cheapest value he'll be all season no doubt then have to justify why they've done it.

I guess it's different when ur at the top of ur mini league :-p

I don't agree that any players are due anything.

Not directed at you EF but generally I read a lot of "he is due this, he is due that".

Arteta could go the whole rest of the season without another goal, very unlikeley I know but nothing is certain and basing a transfer on something being due is just daft.

I'm due a lottery win I might go and put my life savings as a non refundable deposit on a ferrari.

Few questions in regards to my team.

    Hart | Foster
    Konchesky | O'Shea | Alcaraz | Jones | Elmo
    Malouda | Bale | Nani | Barton | Davies
    Drogba | Tevez | Berba

As everyone else I will be looking to get Fabs in no later than GW10 and I am also interested in doing the Bale -> VdV swap at some point.

Now I looked at some of the options for cheap strikers and the idea of replacing Berba and possibly Tevez with the likes of Carroll, Odem, Elmander, Dembele or Obinna really speaks to me as it looks to me like it's through the midfield we will get the majority of our points this season.

What's your feeling on this team and where would you downgrade to bring in a stronger midfield?

i'm not feeling it with berba, but his fixture are good so dilemma. if he didn't score this wk my plan was to put in odemwingie for berba then use the cash week after to get fab in gameweek 10.

fabs will do nothing against city's mean defence and bully boy midfield.

I have played my wildcard this week and am currently sitting with this team:

    Krul Foster

    Elmohamady O'Shea Jagielka Dann Jara

    Arteta Malouda Fabregas Nani Adam

    Elmander Drogba Carrol

What do you guys think of the team? I'm also not sure of who to sub at the weekend. I'm thinking Dann and Jara but not sure who else?

not sure about doubling up on foster and dann, two good looking home games in 4 though but long term no, if you keep someone at jag's range you've got kolorov/bosingwa in 304 weeks time who can replace him in that bracket, Konchesky could be ace yet

Pretty set on bringing in Fabs for Malouda already, rest of team linked.

as a journo I realise that Woy's next press conference will be rightly dominated by questions about the ownership wranglings and its effect on the team.
If I was there my first question would be, "is konchesky going to start?"
He's in my team and with only Jara to come on I need this important fact answered...who cares about court battles.

yeah liverpool have been very quiet on him, leave him in your team but make sure your sub defender is ready and waiting to take his place. 2bh tho i reckon it's 2-1 to the everton this wk.

    Morning all,
Couple of quick questions for you, I know we have nothing concrete yet but I value you're opinions for some reason!

    Will Konchesky play?
    Will O'Shea play?
Which 2 out of Adam/Carroll/Andy Johnson would you start?

    Thanks in advance gents!

that would be sweet but highly unlikely, he is owned by .9%, 90% of which I would imagine are dead teams, and therefore no price drop with no activity, 5.7 is still a bargain, and 5.8 is just as good for Boateng

Have no idea why people are falling over themselves to get Fabregas in?

He will come for 60 mins at best but from what has happened the last few times when arsene injured him from early returns im sure he will be on as a second hand substitute giving wilshere or denilson some game time. Then he has Man City who will pack the midfeild with 3 DM's. He is a diffenate season must but not until GW 10 surely

FF noob here. My current team is as below:

    Carson | Foster
    Konchesky | Cole A | Williamson | Foley | Toure
    Malouda | Bale | Nani | Scholes | Nolan
    Drogba | Carroll | Berba

    .2 mil in the bank.

Any ideas on how best to improve it? Wildcard already used, though am willing to take a 4 point penalty if two changes are a good idea. I was thinking of swapping Scholes for Adam.

scholes vs west brom, leave a week then out.

n'zog/ethrington better options than nolan in that price range

konch may not play, could be a season keeper, might not be, not certainty

as Camzy says with her gigantic Camel toe, get Elmohamady in. He's like golddust and will be 5.5 million come may

Dilema this week is who to bench in defence.Only have Foster for a gk so didn't want Dann in as well but have to decide between Shawx and Alcraz .Hopefully playing Hangeland and Jones ( Blackburn )Was thinking Alcaraz but then would have to play Davies ( Fulham ) as I have Barton. I also have Elmander which doesnt help the Shawx case. Any suggestions appreciated. ( Already taken a 4pt hit so don't want to do tranfers)
