The World Cup 2014 Qualifiers are up and running, giving Fantasy managers plenty to fret about as our assets turn out for their respective nations. With plenty of games right across the globe last night, we cast an eye over the performances of our Premier League protagonists:

Nikica Jelavic needed just five minutes to serve a reminder of his abilities ahead of Everton’s strong run of fixtures. Jelavic climbed off the bench as a replacement for Eduardo midway through the second-half of Croatia’s home clash with Macedonia and headed home the only goal of the game. Wales were felled 2-0 at home by Belgium, thanks to a couple of goalscoring Premier League centre-halves. Vincent Kompany and Jan Vertonghen grabbed a goal apiece, with the latter highlighting his set-piece capabilities by firing home a free-kick late on.

West Brom’s Zoltan Gera was handed the first 45 minutes in Hungary’s 5-0 win away to Andorra. The Baggies midfielder slotted home a spot-kick just after the half-hour mark to help his side to the top of Group Four. Holland saw off Turkey 2-0 at home as they try to put their dire Euro 2012 display behind them – Robin Van Persie opened the scoring for the Dutch to maintain his fantastic form up front.

Gylfi Sigurdsson helped Iceland to a 2-0 win over Norway last night. The midfielder put his Tottenham frustrations behind him to set up Alfred Finnbogason to fire home his side’s second with less than 10 minutes left on the clock. Edin Dzeko continued the recent form that has seen him score twice and provide an assist in the first three Gameweeks for City. The forward played the full 90 minutes for Bosnia away to Liechtenstein and grabbed a hat-trick in an 8-1 romp.

England got off to the perfect start away to Moldova last night with a Frank Lampard brace helping seal a very comfortable victory. Jermain Defoe, James Milner and Leighton Baines rounded off the scoring. Five players supplied the assists for Roy Hodgson’s side – Tom Cleverley, Glen Johnson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and subs Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck were the providers in the 5-0 win. John Terry is thought to be nursing a twisted ankle ahead of the Ukraine match next midweek, while Steven Gerrard was taken off at half-time as a precaution.

France have Abou Diaby to thank for a 1-0 win away to Finland. A shining light in Arsenal’s recent win at Liverpool, the midfielder was afforded the full 90 minutes and fired the only goal of the game on 20 minutes for Didier Deschamps’ side. Diaby’s Gunners team mate Santi Cazorla was also on target in Spain’s hammering of Saudi Arabia. The summer signing from Malaga opened the scoring as Vicente Del Bosque’s side racked up a 5-0 friendly win. Tottenham’s new boy Clint Dempsey was amongst the goals last night but his efforts were not enough to stop the USA losing 2-1 away to Jamaica

        You completely miss the point.

Keane knows Germany are better than them, but as a captain, speaking in public, do you want him to say, we are going to get humped, there is no point showing up, just give Germany the points & we will stay at home & watch TV

The way I look at it. Do you expect Cazorla to score more than 4 points than Kagawa from now until the end of the season? Do you plan on keeping him Form/fitness dependent for the whole season? If the answer is yes to both take the hit. If the answer is no to one or the other step away from the trigger.

Full season is irrelevant, you can do it on a free the week after.

Do you expect Santi to score +4 on Kagawa next week? Maybe, but Santi had a blank for 2 weeks before last, and Kagawa has Wigan at home, so it's a big risk.

Just do it in a few weeks, mci/CHE after SOU too.

So you think Man Utd will win that game 3-0, or something of that nature.

IF RVP starts, will he score all 3 before 60 mins?

Will he be involved in all the goals?

If he scores one goal & is subbed off around 60 mins, no BP.

                    So; 6x2 = 12

                    For 13.4m, great 🙂

You do realise that you are just guessing/hoping RVP is either benched or doesn't make 60 minutes, right? It's not as if he is definitely going to be substituted early, and he could well score another hat-trick. He might not do anything, or he might score 5, but you are saying it as if only your ideal situation happens.
BTW I think you mean 13.0, the smart people got him in before Fulham at home. Great 🙂

You make a good point, but I'm still intent on captaining him... Personally I think he'll start as he'll not want to take Wigan lightly... can see him being hauled off early though especially if they look like they've got the game wrapped up (But by this time you'd probably imagine he's got a good FF haul).

With United making hard work of beating the likes of Fulham and Southampton, i fully expect RVP to start against Wigan. If not for RVP, they would have dropped points in both games. So i don't think Fergie will take risk of going without him if he is fully fit.

The word, 'which', is normally followed by a coma.

Perhaps you could have used, 'that'.

You have also left out a word, it should read:

"a word that you have ironically spelt incorrectly".

To assume a person you have never met is not intelligent, based on his command of grammar, is the dumbest statement I have ever heard. My errors are based on laziness. Also to value people in life based on their intelligence, is actually a poor reflection on any person.

Yeah, this has always been a known risk on here, I wouldn't be surprised if he is benched for Wigan. That's why, with United's horror run of fixtures after that, I wouldn't bring RVP now if I didn't already have him. Points chasing at its best!

Many people had him from the start and many more got him before Southampton when they knew Rooney is out for considerable period. I didn't get him in first 2 weeks because i had better option in Torres for those weeks and i wanted to see how he gel into United team. I saved 2 M in bank just to get United forward after couple of weeks.

Probably because people were more concerned with getting rid of Chelsea players and sorting out other problems in their team. It's very difficult to get RVP without hits/ a wildcard, so you can understand people waiting to see how he starts. Plus lots went with Rooney for GW2 as we all expected him to start as well.

Because maybe they thought he would fail, maybe they went with Rooney, maybe they had no cash, now they have had the sense knocked into them with 4 goals in his first 2 starts. Maybe they are also looking at the ticker and rightfully thinking he is the best (c) choice by miles!

It's pretty rock solid. I've used 5 too. Key tactic in this game is to use transfers during the weekend. For example last weekend I brought Fletcher in for Petric after the early KO and before the 3pm KO. Worked out well. Best way to maximise use of your transfers.

      Morning chaps,

I'm around the 36k mark in TFF with:

      Hart
      STaylor Vertonghen Chico
      Sigurdsson Yaya Pienaar Hazard
      Tevez Torres Giroud

Was planning on a bit of a reshuffle this GW. Definitely need Chico out. Was going to get Cazorla in, but might keep faith with Giroud to follow in the steps of Wrighty, Bergkamp, Henry and RVP and get his first league goals vs Southampton.

6m mid sitting on the bench, decreases the starting XI value too much. I'd have one of them and a bench fodder probably.

Hi, I'm new to the site and would like some help with a big dilemma I'm having - Cazorla vs Kagawa ?

Cazorla : will get more game time & get picked every week, will have more of an attacking option role

Kagawa : will get subbed off most games and with fergie's constant rotation might not play certain weeks, very impressive playmaker which will give him loads of assists points (+ I love united, so that will give me something more to cheer for !)

I don't think so, there's a lot of other options when you start getting in to that price range. Whichever way you slice it Michu can't continue scoring 4 goals in 3 games, and with 100% shot conversion too - exact same thing happened with Cisse last year.

Ben Arfa has a similar price and a nice run of fixtures coming up. If you want Swansea cover then the real key to their play is they knock it to the wings a lot which is what has made Dyer/Routledge great options, and I'd recommend Dyer in a heartbeat if it wasn't for Pablo who will threaten game time. He could be a nice option at £6.5m himself mind.

Yeah that's true. but that was a massive exception to the Rule of Football (unless you're Messi or something). Will Michu be the one who continues to defy the odds for weeks and weeks to come? Maybe, but more likely not. I still think he's worth having in your team and is a good pick, but he's just that - a good pick, not some elite piece you must have in your team regardless of cost, and at £7.2m I'd start looking elsewhere _particularly_ given how Swansea are trying to push it through the wings.

No Hazard scares me a bit but not fussed about anything else.

Tempted to do Green -> Jaaskelinaan for a hit before jaask rises in price and green falls... once its done its done i suppose.

Yeah I'd stick with Adebayor this week at least. If you look at it on paper he's a proven goalscorer and the lone striker with Bale/Siggy/Dempsey in behind in a team which needs goals and gets to play against Reading.

And he acts as a nice differential to almost everyone here.

There's no way that that's a *BAD* pick.

Phone the box office. You can buy expensive seats, or you might be able to get regular ones, I know that a lot of people haven't renewed their season tickets.

Or... See if you can find an agent for foreign ticket buyers. I know there's one called American Arsenal or something for people coming from the States who want to catch a game.

2 quick questions to continue our analysis of Yaya.
1 Do you think he will play further forward all season even with Silva back?
2 Do you think he will take on more shots than last year or have more key passes?

I mean what is so different from last season besides Silva not being fit now.
If all stays the same that stats suggest a regression coming:
Yayas stats this season(normal conversion taken from last season)
        GW1: Shots taken:6 Goals scored:2
        GW1: Key passes made:9 Assists made:1
Normal rate of shot conversion: 2 shots per game, 10.7 shots per goal
Normal rate of key pass conversion: 1.7 key passes per game 9.066 key passes per assist

    WC Team

    Hart DeGea
    Baines Vermaelen Vertoghen Kompany Vidic
    Hazard Silva Cazorla Bale Kagawa
    RVP Aguero Torres

Is having Hazard and Torres too much Chelsea? And I'm worried i might be benching too much money every week, so should i bring in Guthrie and Demel?

Hey, wait a minute, you can't have that team!
You have got 4 United players, and 4 City, not one of them being Tevez. Try again.

That's a sweet front 8, but you're going to kill yourself 2 out of every 3 weeks for benching the wrong goddamn player *AGAIN*.

What do you think. Do I need to make a transfer for next week?
    Krul (Federici)
    Ivanovic - Baines - Kompany (Demel,Fonte)
Pienaar - Michu - Kagawa - Cazorla (Maloney)
    Petric - Tevez - Torres

Wildcard still firmly in bag and 0.5 million to spare
