Better late then never. In truth, thereโ€™s nothing comfortable about this one. We had some nightmarish technical issues that had me tearing at my receding hairline tonight but, we got it done. Just.

The route of the problem was a change of scenery, as Granville and I resorted to staying on home territory to record this latest episode. There was a chance it would end in tears; it almost did.

It is, at least, a bumper episode, with just over 45 minutes of myself and Granville grumbling amidst the regulars on Wednesday evening. With his three point lead at the top of our mini-league, the fact is I couldnโ€™t bear to face my Mancunian rival to discuss the merits of an early wildcards versus points hits, lament the demise of Carlos Tevez and chat about Granvilleโ€™s night attire.

Grab this online experiment here, or stream using the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Alreet lads

Finally pulled the WC trigger. Feels good.

If I downgrade pienaar (have fellaini), to Nolan I can upgrade Clyne to cuellar. He would be essentially my 5th defender, but would give me the absolute flexibility that I am looking for. Worth it?

Finally done with my WC team I think...not too happy with double everton in midfield but I'd like to take the 2/3 games to come as a litmus test.

    Foster Bego
    Baines Gibbs Rafael (Demel, Gorkss)
    Cazorla HBA Pienaar Fellaini (Sterling)
    RVP(c) Fletcher(vc) Ba

    Good to go?

I think Fletcher could easily be in the top 5 strikers this season, I mentioned after his finish against Swansea a few weeks back that he is a quality striker and so far he has shown it, just wait till Sunderland start creating chances for him!

Fletcher is a quality striker but as long as he is playing for a MON coached side he won't get lots of chances (although he does finish the few he gets)

Sick of ownin noble.. dont expect anythin from him. Playin qpr this week and i still dont wanna play him.. Thinkin of leavin Dyer as my cheap mid(@ 5.5) who i bench most weeks after the next 2.. Atleast i’d expect somethin from him. Was all set on gettin Baines in defense but i got Rafael and Hangeland(who i can start till GW 10) so dont really need him. Worth transferrin out
    A) Noble and Kagawa for Fellaini and Pienaar
the option which i was originally weighin up was
    B) Hangeland and Kagawa to Pienaar and Baines(dont really care about the price rise)

Those 4 or 5 firing mid-priced forwards are too difficult to predict week to week. I think Ba's stats are more promising just because Toon create more chances as a team than Fletcher, but fletcher will certainly outscore Ba some weeks.

Long post alert.. Which would you prefer
    A)
    Mignolet (Federici)
    BAINES Rafael Demel (Gorkks Clyne)
    Bale Cazorla Pienaar Dyer (Noble)
    Rvp Tevez Ba
    OR
    B)
    Mignolet (Federici)
    Rafael Gorkks Demel (Hangeland Clyne)
    Bale FELLAINI Pienaar Cazorla (Dyer)
    Rvp Tevez Ba

    B) gives me a more expensive 5th mid, but it's someone i can trust to get me more than 2 points if tevez etc dont play. plus i'll swap between hangeland and S.taylor for their swing in fixtures. A) gives me bench fodder in the form of noble, but incase dyer has fallen out of favor it leaves me with no 4th mid really. Thanks

I agree with Majiedo that ditching Tevez is the solution to your problem long term. I'd want Baines and Fellaini, but it seems that's not an option given your current funds. If you want to keep Tevez, then both Noble and Dyer have to go. One needs to be upgraded to Fellaini (or Piennar works), and one needs to be downgraded to fund it. Both are too expensive to take up a bench spot.

Dyer offers a good option for GW 7 and GW 8 atleast incase Tevez does'nt start. Long term tevez will be gold dust

sorry, I'm bowing out of this thread. You've got a situation that is ripe for some tinkering, but there's no obvious solution so far as I can see. Rafael Gibbs S.Taylor etc are fantastic options @ around 5 though.. cant see baines gettin many Clean sheets in the next 5 (SOT wig qpr LIV ful does'nt scream clean sheets) so attackin points seem to be the way forward with everton players. Granted Baines will get as many if not more attackin points than Pienaar and Fellaini, but gettin one Gibbs, ridgewell etc instead(for Clean sheets) may be the better option

I'm looking to get an eventual backline of Rafael – Baines – Sagna (when he gets back). With Foster/Begovic as keepers I think this is the way forward. And with Everton's current form I can see them picking up a few CSs.

Rafael Sagna and rotatin 3 4.0's seems good enough honestly.. Baines is a brilliant option, but he's a want more than he is a need in most ppl's teams.

I wouldn't want two 4.0s let alone 3. Attacking FBs from good defences seems like the way to go for me. With so many mid-priced options up front to go alongside RVP/Aguero, there is no need to starve yourself of cash at the back.

Don't get me wrong. I dislike Liverpool and Suarez as much as the next sane person but I think their form belies their potential.
I'm starting to feel good about this. I've made some money on Tevez and now he's just going to spend half of his time on the bench, time to move on.

Agree, they have no divine right.

I don't get where all the love for Rat Face is coming from this week. Liverpool are playing pretty well, but not scoring. Rat Face hits the woodwork with alarming regularity, sprays shots all over the place. He's probably the best player in the prem with ball at his feet in the box, except he currenty can't finish. Stay away until he scores in a couple for me.

Chelsea's defense prowess is driven a ton by their fixtures:

        @ WIG v RDG v NEW @ QPR STO

Who wouldn't expect a string a clean sheets against that lineup?

Arsenal, LIV, and MCI are the best three defenses in the league and the end of the season numbers will prove it out. Man U would be there if not for injuries.

    Fellanini Michu Hazard
    Tevez Fletcher RVP

Just because I think Dyer needs some competition for his place. And with sitting on people like RVP, Tev, Dyer and who knows even Hazard soon. I think it's wise to have at least a bit more attacking potential coming off your bench in the (seeming likely) event of any of the above players being rested.

Guth and Sterling very similar prices too. It's win-win for me

Corners less so since Taylor, and Jarvis are about.

Not sure about Jenkinson in WC team with Sagna return imminent (unless you've owned him since 4.5 maybe). Setting yourself up for a DF transfer when other things could be more pressing. I'm still trying to dump Zab but never can find the right GW

I am also in WC. I had Cole from the start but I am guessing he is not a necessity. many say Jenkenson is under threat once Sagna gets back. Apart from that it looks pretty standard (read: like mine)

The real trick is to find some differentials, and pick some new players. Unfortunately I don't really manage that either:)

    Questions for the DeadZoners:

Not sure who to start in goal and defence:
    A) Jussi or Cech
    B) Play one of Cashley, Hangeland, Demel

I'm inclined to go one Chelsea and one Hammer, but then there's also Hangeland to consider. Thoughts?

Can't decide who to bench this week yet.

A: Play Demel or Rangel .... Rangel is more attacking potential, but Swan are less likely to keep CS?

B: Play Tevez or Sterling .... Just afraid of 1 point from Tevez again. What do you think?

"If you have Tevez, you have to play him"

Why? Chances are slim he starts and even if he does, @ Fulham is a tough matchup. This isn't Southampton or home versus Wigan, Fulham is a top 10 club and will not be a pushover. Even if he does start, I think your risk of a blow up game is limited.

I want to play Baines(C) and my front 8 is:

    MICHU,Pienaar,Fellani,Hazard,HBA,RVP,Tevez and LAMBERT...

who to bench this week???my first choice was Michu because Stoke away is always a tough game but then I have to play Lambert against Baines...or maybe I can change my captain to someone else??but I have a feeling that Baines will score..

Hehe, I working on my WC-team, in which I sacrificed every rotation-risk (Tevez+ RvP, might be costly in the end), and while I still have some decisions to make, I have 5.7 in the bank. It is almost like you have to much money like this.

Well, I guess, but that seems pretty illogical.

I am a Tevez owner and would stick with him if I had a viable option. Unfortunately, I have Guthrie, so I have decided to ship him out for Ba.

Chances are, I eventually go back to Auero as my 3rd, but Tevez is much too pricey to keep at the moment. Plus, he will most certainly drop in price next week when he is at best a sub again this week.

I agree. I don't see how anyone thinks Tevez is starting. I'd like to hear a logical argument to explain how the starting forward for MCI would be played for 120 minutes in a Carling Cup game.

Does the fact that he has played pretty much the same amount of gametime over the last 2 games as Dzeko and Balotelli not count for anything? Tevez started the Carling Cup because Dzeko/Aguero both started vs Arsenal, they started vs Arsenal because Tevez was the only striker to start vs Real Madrid out of the 4 strikers. He'll have had 4 days rest since the game against Villa and Mancini has said time and time again how Tevez came back and was the reason for their improved form away from home..
Realistically, nobody knows he will start - but there is an argument for both sides.

Obvious? To Mancini? The guy is not on the same page with your obvious.

He played a single striker against Real Madrid in the UCL. He will do it again if it suits him right.

The only thing we know about city is that Aguero is the top dog up front, Kompany will never be subbed out in a meaningful situation, and Yaya is playing every minute when it counts. At this point, I think Silva is locked on too bt that's hard to tell. The remaining spots are completely up for grabs.

Tevez is a wonderful footballer, but so are Aguero, Dzeko, and Balotelli (when his head is on).

Nope. If anything, that tells me Mancini is rolling out a 5 MID lineup like he did against Real Madrid.

Again, @ Fulham is a difficult game. MCI will be lucky to win. If he he were planning on starting Tevez he wouldn't have played him 120 mins Tuesday. It's that simple.

Exactly, away to Fulham is a tough game, so there is every reason to start your best striker combination and play the man who was credited with actually allowing City to perform away from home. I don't think Mancini would have planned for Tevez to go 120 minutes, I doubt that he thought Villa would still be in the game come half time, he was hardly going to sub him off.

Fwiw, I'm not saying he will start, but there is no reason for you to be able to dismiss any chances of him starting.

I am just looking at things logically. Logic tells me he wouldn't play someone 120 minutes in a game he doesn't give a shite about if he were starting Saturday.

I don't think Mancini thinks his team is better with 2 strikers versus one. That's why I have a feeling he is playing 5 mids against Fulham. As I noted, that's what he did against RM and that's what I expect Saturday.

Your front 8 really is too good. You can make an unshakeable case for everybody to play from that selection.

Even if Tevez comes off the bench, it will likely mean they are chasing the game, in which case Tevez will still give you a good chance of returns against a hardly watertight Fulham DF

My guess is you see either 5 MIDs like against Real Madrid or Dzeko gets the nod up front. If I had t guess, it would be 5 mids (Silva, Toure, Sinclair, Garcia, Barry).

Not so sure anymore. It could be a major diff in my ML if i sell Tevez, especially for berba as no one has him yet and everyone has tevez. Loss in tv won't be nice though and I will probably have to shift to citeh defensive cover to make all my trsfr plans possible.

The cash freed up by Tevez -> Berb is appealing too, and I don't want to have this will he/won't he thing every week.

My vague plan is to save a transfer next week, then do Cech/Lambert -> Begovic/Aguero. But it depends how rotation-proof Aguero seems. Might just upgrade Noble to Bale and ship Hazard for Cazorla instead.

I just hit the button, Tevez to Berb, but not for hit, pretty sure I wouldn't do it for a hit. I agree Aguero Tevez is their best combination, but can see one in EPL and one in CL for a while. Basically just not sure and too expensive to have hanging around while in the dilema. He will undoubtedly hurt me some weeks, and when /if a picture becomes clear then will likely get one of Tevez/Aguero back. my preference would be Aguero, funds allowing.
