634x258 The Stock Check

First half strikes from Matt Jarvis and Ricardo Vaz Te are enough to earn the Hammers a first away win and leave QPR adrift at the bottom of the table. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday’s Gameweek finale…

On the Up

Adel Taarabt
Back to fitness and back in favour, Taarabt found his way onto the R’s bench and entered the action to drag Mark Hughes’ side back into the game. His goal was sublime and unstoppable, his touch and creativity also eye-catching. If only he could cement a regular starting role, he’d be QPR’s one major Fantasy asset.

Andy Carroll
On the bench after recovering early from a hamstring injury, Carroll was introduced for Carlton Cole midway through the second half and, despite Cole’s work rate, the Geordie will surely replace him in the lineup when Arsenal pay visit this weekend. Kevin Nolan and company will be delighted. Arsene Wenger won’t be.

Ricardo Vaz Te
Those Fantasy managers searching for a budget option in attack could do well to consider the Portuguese striker who claimed his first goal of the season to accompany two assists so far. Yossi Benayoun will threaten his starting role but Vaz Te is doing enough to warrant his start right now.

Jussi Jaaskaleinen
Denied a clean sheet by Taarabt’s wonder strike, the Finnish stopper nonetheless impressed with a string of saves to offer a reminder as to his value in the budget keeper bracket.

Going Down

Winston Reid
Forced off in the first-half, the Kiwi defender suffered concussion and could therefore be a doubt for the weekend. West Ham have an able replacement in James Tomkins and Reid’s growing Fantasy ownership (12.5% in the FPL) will be monitoring news from the Hammers camp with interest. A clean sheet against the Gunners would seem unlikely but Tomkins will be looking to make a firm claim for a starting role if he’s given the opportunity.

Mark Noble
His performances are strong but his Fantasy returns are lacking. Noble’s reliance on set-pieces has yet to pay dividends and patience appears to be wearing thin. With the likes of Raheem Sterling offering a decent prospect in the budget bracket, Noble’s ownership continues to diminish.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Friedel
    Lescott, Ivanovic, Rangel
    Carzola, Yaya, Pienaar, Michu
    Ba, Torres, Jelavic

    Jussi, 1 - Sterling, 2 - Rafael 3 - Barnett

    1.8m in the bank.

I'm thinking doesn't make sense to ship lescott - if he plays he'll get 90, otherwise got Rafael.

Ba in red hot form, but I want to go Ba > Suarez and captain him. Madness?

    Morning all,

Planning my WC for next GW and looking at Glenn Whelan:

    - £5m
    - played 80+ minutes every game so far this year
    - 2 assists and 25 points to date
    - fixtures from GW 9 - 17 are: SUN, nor, QPR, whu, FUL, NEW, wba, avl, EVE

I know he wouldn't be the sexiest of WC transfers, but there is some pretty compelling evidence there surely?!?!?

I also know there are the likes of Sterling and Kaca, but I want Gerrard in there and plan on having Schwarzer and Berba, so don't want to double/treble up particularly. Whelan, however, would be my one and only Stoke player.

Can any Stoke fans or current owners support my theory?

    or

Can any non-Stoke fans or non-owners convince me otherwise?

    Thoughts gratefully appreciated...

Doesn't seem like "a lot" of dead meat, just some. I wouldn't WC for that reason. You can replace your deadwood def and GK bit by bit. You might decide to WC to execute a master plan that sets you up for the season, but don't do it just because of three relatively cheap players you can bench. You'll score points with what you have.

Been wrecked since the weekend for me - different browsers have given me slightly different results at certain times but seems pretty messed up currently.

How does this look for CL this week?

    Beto (Sirigu)

    Vidal/Howedes/Luiz (Santos/Bonera)

    Oscar/Joaquin/Romulo/Shirokov (Pastore)

    Mandzukic/RVP/Messi

Thinking of RVP to either Podolski or Huntellar. Good to go otherwise?

Gotta have Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar, the guy has scored like 14 goals in 6 games this season and is a snip at 5.5

    Lads, have you tried PSG on fifa 13? Ridiculous... In a 4-2-3-1 formation;

    Sirigu
Van der Wiel | Sakho | Thiago Silva | Maxwell
    Nene | Matuidi
    Menez | Pastore | Lavezzi
    Zlatan

some more opinions before i pull the trigger please:

1 – I can do pienaar to bale (c) for free – good idea or any other transfer (2.7m in the bank)
    2 – if I do that – who can I bench??

    team is -
    Foster (begovich)
    Baines Vertonghen McCauley (jenkinson demel)
    Cazorla hazard michu Morrison (pienaar)
    Ba Suarez lambert

I would do that transfer for free, as you have Baines, and would (very reluctantly) bench Morrison.

after being inspired by Christina and Bubbles "stick your neck out" philosophy, i think i might take a cheeky -4/-8 hit to bring in some edgy, off the wall players for GW7.

if it all goes tits up, i've only buggered one (more) week and i can always use my WC after the international break.

    any suggestions?
