Javier Hernandez is the hero for United after climbing off the bench to turn the game around at Villa Park. The Mexican’s double and assist earned the visitors a stunning 3-2 victory, while Andreas Weimann also bagged a brace for the beaten hosts:

On the Up

Javier Hernandez
Sent on as a sub after half-time, his introduction proved the difference for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Hernandez produced two goals and assist as United came from two down – Ron Vlaar was credited with an own goal for the second, after the Mexican’s strike was deemed to be off target before a deflection helped it into the Villa net.

Andreas Weimann
A peripheral figure in the Villa set-up of late, the Austrian was handed his first start since Gameweek 4 this evening. Weimann notched both Villa’s goals and has surely staked a claim for a regular role, bearing in mind that the hosts had previously scored more than a single goal just once in their opening 10 matches.

Christian Benteke
Having supplied attacking returns in each of his previous two, the Belgian maintained his strong recent form with an assist for Weimann’s opener. The skill and strength displayed in bettering Chris Smalling and composure to set up the Austrian, allied with his current form, has more than vindicated Paul Lambert’s decision to start Benteke over Darren Bent.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, United’s backline failed to keep out their opponents. Villa had scored just twice in their four league matches prior to this evening but Weimann’s strike just before the break means United have now trailed in seven of their 11 league matches – as this evening’s game showed, grinding out results is simply not an option for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ashley Young
He’d played 90 minutes in the previous wins over Chelsea and Arsenal but an insipid first-half display against his former club saw the winger subbed off for Hernandez at the break. With a single assist to his name this term, Young is showing little to suggest he deserves a regular role for the league leaders.

Despite having most chances created and second most goal attempts for the season amongst midfielders? He's one of those players you tell yourself that one week but last week everyone was looking on in awe at him. I'd let him go 3 weeks without scoring before selling.

Sideways...hmmm...I don't know. Walcott is proven to be a huge attacking threat in any game and he's on fire this season. Hard to ignore. I'd take Walcott's goals over Cazorla's assists at that price.

He got two assists today by crossing it for Giroud...he brings strikers best qualities out. And he is the sole reason Giroud scored today. Underestimate Theo at your peril 😀

I'm not saying I'm jumping on the bandwagon yet...but Walcott is as good an option as Cazorla and may score more goals...I see it as a good move if you fancy it.

Huge is a slight over exaggeration and you can kind of discount the Carling Cup game for starters. Walcott also has a history of injuries and things are clearly not right with his contract situation behind the scenes- hence he's only just started getting a look in.

I rate him and he could be really useful over the coming months but seems a bit knee jerk/sideways point chasing to me

I've a shit history and I'm tearing the shit out of it this year.

Luck plays a massive massive factor in it, especially this early on.

For example, it's clear that Mata is the better pick in the Chelsea midfield and tricky new players usually take some time to settle in (like Kagawa ). I wasn't correct in going against the conventional wisdom and going for Hazard over Mata in GW1 but it was worth about 30 points in the first two GWs, more if you captained him.

One thing i have noticed is that it's way easier playing from the lead as opposed to being behind - you kind of make your own decisions as opposed to looking at what rivals are doing.

They're all good -- Giroud could turn out to be very good, I might buy him in a few weeks if he keeps up this new confidence -- but for me right now, Berbatov. He's a first rate, first choice striker, on form, in an attacking team, and priced as though he were still bench fodder at Man U.

Berba and RVP for me have been the essential pair up front ever since he moved to Fulham. Stick him in there and forget bout him till end of season/injury. Only need to check his goal scoring record vs minutes played over his prem career to realise he's a must. Plus now he's nailed for 90 each week. So to sum up, Berb

Guys, How did Rooney play today???

Captain fail again, I am so pissed off that last week I did Bale(C) over Fella and this week Rooney (C) over Fellaini again.

I'M thinking of Baines to 4.5 defender and get a place for RVP for my United Cover,

or should I just wait for one more week??

Brought Fellaini in for Cazorla finally succumbed to the pressure, have 1 free transfer left any suggestions? Other option I could possibly do is Sterling-Walcott, Jelly-Berbs and Jaask-Tremmel and play Bego pretty much up to Jan Wildcard, however this would be an 8 point hit and leave a selection headache who to bench out of my front 8 each week, although it would be a nice dillema to have

    Jaask/Baines
    Baines/Hughes/Davies/Gorkss/Wilkinson
    Mata/Bale/Michu/Sterling/Fellaiini
    Rvp/Ba/Jelly
