A couple of midfield protagonists are set to sit on the sidelines after accruing their fifth booking of the season last weekend. Paul Scholes and Mark Noble will both miss out as West Ham travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, with the latter’s absence particularly sore for his side, given he has started every league game so far for the Hammers.

The tightrope welcomes two new contenders after the weekend’s round of matches. Cheick Tiote may have been injured for much of the season but his penchant for picking up yellows remains unquenched – the Ivorian’s caution at St Mary’s yesterday take his tally to four yellows in all competitions ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Stoke on Wednesday. Wigan’s James McArthur fell foul of the ref in his side’s 3-2 win over Reading on Saturday and now balances precariously as the Latics prepare to welcome City to the DW.

Luis Suarez and Michu continue to avoid that fifth yellow which would earn them an automatic ban. With three strong home games in the next five, Suarez looks primed for significant Fantasy attention once again; his owners will be crossing their fingers he stays out of the ref’s notebook against Spurs on Wednesday, bearing in mind he then plays host to Southampton at the weekend.

Those players on four yellows have until New Year until the five-card amnesty kicks in. Basically, if they can avoid another booking in this calendar year, they will then be exempt from the customary one-match ban and receive no more than a warning regarding their future conduct. The limit then moves to 10 yellows, which would earn the guilty party a two-match ban. Most culpable so far are Ahmed El Ahmadi, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel, who lead the way on six yellow cards apiece.

Having served out a one-match ban in Everton’s draw with Norwich, Marouane Fellaini is available for selection as the Toffees host Arsenal, while Fabricio Coloccini will be welcomed back by Alan Pardew as injury-hit Newcastle make their way to Stoke.

Brede Hangeland and Emmanuel Adebayor are both set to skip the second match of their respective three-game bans this midweek.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

People saying Enrique isn't nailed on makes me laugh as he is now a key component in Brendan Rodgers Liverpool evolution.

Rodgers is intent in playing Enrique on the LW and even went as far to claim Enrique is Liverpool's "Gareth Bale"

"If you look at (Tottenham's) Gareth Bale, he played at left-back and then moved forward and showed his strengths," he said."Jose is someone I think can do that role with his power and pace."I said to him yesterday that him and Raheem can get goals if they get (positionally) inside the frame of the goal.

"If you watch the replay he makes up a lot of ground to get in there and anticipate the rebound, there are more positives to come.

One threat however is Enrique is expecting a baby soon, his celebration with the thumb in his mouth v wigan was a dedication to his unborn son who he expects to be born in few weeks

Evening all. Currently got 3 possible non-players next GW – Noble (susp), Saylor (inj), O’Shea (inj) and want to change all 3 plus Jelavic over the next few GW’s anyway, should I do?

    A) Noble to Sessegnon and Jelavic to Giroud
    B) Noble to Puncheon and Jelavic to Aguero/Suarez
    C) Deal with Saylor/O’Shea first

I can do both A & B for a -4 or do one for GW14 and one for GW15 for no hits

I would wait for Benitez to settle before I go near Chelsea's midfield. I would consider Lambert->Suarez though.

It's interesting that Tevez seems to get benched for the tougher matches Man City have. Arsenal (H) Chelsea (A) and the majority of Champions league matches. I wonder why this is...?

Mancini still holding a grudge maybe?

I was thinking along those lines too when it came to the Champions league matches. Maybe he felt that Tevez didn't deserve to play over the other guys who had tried their best last year in the champions league. Whereas Tevez had that tiff and ran off.

I think it's about surrendering a bit of possession and going more direct. Two small, technical players up front assumes you'll have a lot of the ball and need to break through a deep defence. Balo / Dzeko essentially turns Plan B to Plan A because you know Plan A won't cut it against a superior passing team.

That's a good take on it. But I do find it curious that he is benched for all the tough matches. It hasn't worked for Mancini so maybe he regrets it now? In none of the games he has been benched have they won a game.

Apparently Alistair Cooke has said that Pietersen is the difference between the two sides. Strange.

Monty Panesar, 11 for 210 in the match.

      1st Innings: MS Panesar 47 12 129 5 2.74
      2nd Innings: MS Panesar 22 3 81 6 3.68

I think the captain has forfeited whatever respect that might have been building up.

I really don't think selling Berbatov is that clever. After Chelsea they are (h) to Spurs and Newcastle where I can see him scoring well in. And he is @ QPR and (h) to Southampton and Swansea for Christmas.

Unless people are getting Fletcher in for the next 4 games then doing the old switcheroo?

I'm all about sticking with Berba but my Fulham-tinted specs may be blinding me. Only real concern is that when Petric plays, Berba drops more into the Ruiz role
