We came up short last week. The combined failures of Theo Walcott, Adel Taarabt and Shane Long found Paddy clawing back some of our previous winnings, heaping some extra pressure on us this time around. With a double Gameweek up our sleeve and diminishing profits, it’s time to think big…

We start with a home banker. Michu’s form is just irresistible right now: the joint top leading scorer in the Premier League, he’s in the Picks and surely in thousands of Fantasy lineups going into the home clash with Norwich. Paddy are offering a slim 9/2 on a Michu goal with a Swansea clean sheet against the Canaries and that’s more than good enough to draw the bulk of our £10 stake money – Paddy can have a fiver of us.

Rickie Lambert is another goalscorer who goes into this weekend strongly backed. He’s up against a Reading defence who has suffered severe leaks and, generally, Southampton look good for goals from the St Mary’s meeting. Lambert showed wiling at Anfield without finding the net but, with spot-kicks and a plethora of midfield talent behind him, we like the look of Lambert to notch against the Royals. Paddy have 6/1 on a Lambert goal with a Southampton cleanie and we will flutter another £2 their way on this.

Now it’s time to lengthen the odds. Stephane Sessegnon is carrying the Fantasy armband for many this weekend, with two home fixtures in his locker to compensate for Sunderland’s stuttering form. With Sessegnon so strongly backed by our Fantasy selections, we just had to test Paddy’s resolve on the Benin international’s chances of coming good against Chelsea. They’ve come up with odds of 25/1 on a Sessegnon goal against the Blues, combined with a Sunderland clean sheet. It seems a long-shot but that suits us – we’ll put another £2 on this and hope, like so many others, that our double Gameweek risk comes in.

That leaves just a solitary shekel for the final bet – our usual treble. Once again Paddy’s odds are big here but the potential looks tempting. Paddy are dangling odds of 33/1 on a Marouane Fellaini goal against Spurs, a Dimitar Berbatov assist against Newcastle and an Aston Villa clean sheet at home to Stoke. Could those stars possibly align for us? With just a quid laid down, we ‘re happy to have a punt.

This has got to be the hardest captaincy choice of the season. Any one of RVP, Ba, Berbs, Giroud, Tevez, Le Fondre, Michu, Fellaini, Sess, Mata, could all be good options for the armband.

I've had the armband on Michu all week but there is seriously no good reason to go for him over anyone else. In times like these its not a bad idea to follow your heart and captain the guy you 'want' to do well. I'm a United fan and I'd like nothing more than RVP putting a few past City - He's getting the armband this week. Go United!

Its true, most people will initially punt on guaranteed points* based on game time, and as it is more likely that Sess will play 180 min ,thus accumulating 4 points* (8 for those who (c) him) whereas RVP will only play 90min and accumulate 2 guaranteed points* as a result.

Play O'Shea(still inj doubt), Nelsen, Rafael or take hit to get rid of O'Shea for O'Brien.

    Pros
Fancy a WHU clean sheet vs pool
O'Brien will rotate well with my other defenders
O'Shea has bad fixtures after this week
O'Shea dropping in price, O'Brien possible rise soon

    Cons
O'Shea may somehow make it for both games this week
    4 point hit.
Not sure O'Brien will be first XI once McCartney is back
May be better to get rid of O'Shea in GW18, for Azpicu/Caulker/O'Brien, as it may be clearer to see who is nailed on by then

Or maybe not O'Brien at all, maybe Demel? Doosra?

I won't get him back , if at all, until he starts scoring again.

Haha. I'm hanging on to Bale and have used a -4 so as per usual not feeling too great about it.

Right move, although I don't think Bale will play until after the stoke game.

    Which defender to play?

    1) Clyne (RDG)
    2) Nastasic (MUN)
    3) Gorkks (double but probably won't play either)

    Thanks

Similar position, why do you think Gorkks will play neither? I have him in with Clyne lined up second

I've taken a 4 point hit to get Shorey in for Gorkss on the basis that he'll play both games and Gorkss probably wont, doubled with the fact that he's a better option long term too.

Can someone tell me if Sess has a middle name Dempsey at all?

That would defiantly persuade me to put the C on him this DGW!? 😉

Too many choices this week. They are all worthy (c) this week so you just have to go with your instincts and hope it pays off.

      Sess or Michu for me.

I have McAnuff, Fletch, RVP, Michu, Caz, Mata and Tevez...... Sod it I'm giving the armband to Fletcher, it's a punt but I'm keen.

That's the punt....... Here's my thinking, if I don't and he plays both games I'll be furious at myself for lacking the boll0cks to give him the armband. I think it's likely he'll play against reading and even if he was just playing at home against reading that wouldn't be such a bad captain choice.... In short it's an acceptable risk.

He better not come on as a sub with 10 mins to go against reading 🙂

My thinking with Sessegnon... no need to captain him as he's a differential just by owning and playing him... so therefore thinking of (C) Michu instead.

C who you think will score most points, ignore differentials until the last few games, and only then if you are chasing a lead
