As Man United approach an eye-catching run of games which could potentially see Sir Alex Ferguson’s side rack up the Fantasy returns, Wayne Rooney has staked a strong claim for consideration after bagging a brace for the second Gameweek in succession. Rooney’s stock has suffered a significant drop this season due to the arrival of Robin Van Persie but as the campaign unfolds, he’s starting to look a real differential, with many Fantasy managers even considering both forwards for a run of games which sees the Red Devils welcome Sunderland, Newcastle and West Brom to Old Trafford, in addition to trips to Swansea and Wigan in the next five:
thoughts on santi?
blanks to continue?Open ControlsVote for best differential this next 2, maybe 3 weeks:
A. Dempsey (since Bale is inj + in form)
B. Valencia (good fixtures, sure starter imo and gotta start producing)
C. A.Young (good fixtures, maybe in better for than Vale)
D. Yaya Toure (sure starter, gotta start doing smthng or shity is going down)
E. Some1 else
What rur thoughts ?Open ControlsOkay then at Unreal's request. Spurs defence.
First, we haven't kept many CS but at the same time we don't concede a huge number of chances. This indicates that an upturn in CS could come and with Lloris between the sticks I am more confident of this.
Additionally we've been guilty of letting our attention drop in the last 10 minutes however we have Parker returning. Now, I don't expect Parker to displace Sandro or Dembele as starters (although he may afford them some rest over xmas) however he will be used as a sub around 70 minutes to spur the team on and throw himself in front of the inevitably nervy onslaught.
Walker has started to get back to somewhere near what he's capable of. Good news as well. 6.1 possibly too much for somebody who offers fleeting goal threat, but does offer fairly consistent crosses. Same goes for BAE when he returns.
Vertonghen is a beast. He's about as nailed on as you can get and when BAE returns from injury will move to CB where he is more natural. BAE hasn't played for the reserves yet however so this may yet be a couple of weeks away. Now at 6.3 he's dearer than Walker or BAE but he does pop off a lot more shots than Walker and has some set-piece duties. A punt but one that may be worthy of consideration.
Now the main interest: Caulker. Now he's much more appealingly priced at 4.9. He also has a lot of aerial threat. Issue is how much of a rotation risk is he? Now I believe that he is first choice but is not nailed on. He's started to show his age a little bit in the past couple of games. Whilst he's a much better option than Gallas and will play the majority of games - he will be given some rest over xmas. Now whether that is 2/5 or 1/5 remains to be seen and would probably affect your decision. Given that BAE may still not return for a couple of weeks I'd wager it will be 1/5.
Oh and the captaincy thing is a non-issue and should be banished from discussion. Dawson is club captain and has spent most the season on the bench. Gallas is the most experienced player and so has been captain when on the pitch but was benched too. It really isn't an important factor in AVB's decision making.Open ControlsThanks Scroob, great post and food for thought 🙂
Open ControlsThanks Mac. Caulker is certainly an interesting one.
Open ControlsInteresting. I might just do Garrido -> Caulker next week. Thanks
Open ControlsVery good.
So we're on Walker Caulker Gallas Vertonghen becoming Walker Caulker/Gallas Vertonghen BAE in a few weeks time, in summary?Open ControlsYes but I think Dawson may be ahead of Gallas when fit too.
Open ControlsWouldn't be surprised, Gallas is dopey IMO.
I know on paper chances conceded haven't been that bad despite the lack of cs. But do you think AVB is going to change his leakiness in the Prem? The cs have gone pretty much according to the extrapolations from his leaky time at Chelsea.Open Controls
Anyone know anything about Billy Jones at West Brom? Got a little run in the team but then hasn't played in a couple of weeks. Looks decent value for the next few weeks if he's going to play...
Open Controlswho do you guys think is the better defender to bring in out of sagna or caulker?
Open ControlsC. Gibbs

From now until January, which team do you think will score more goals, Chelsea or City?
Open ControlsCity. All of them against Reading.
Open ControlsYou need to cover City, Utd, Chels. Tevez/Aguero/Silva, with RVP or Roon, and Mata for me.
Open ControlsPersonally thinking that from now until January, Bale will be more important than Mata.
Open Controls
City.

Have to play Cuellar and Mig this week to get 11 out due to the World Club fixtures. Already got Saurez in with my 1 free, but having read about Rooney vs Sunderland I'm rather scared having double Sunderland now! Are either of these worth the 4 point hit??:-
Mig>Bego (have Shawy)
Mig>Jussi
Cuellar>Huth (have Shawy)
Cuellar>Nasty
The Nasty option grabs me. I have the exact money with Cuellar out. Got to be nailed with Kompany out? Assuming Cuellar scores 1 point, I will need a cleanie off Nasty to gain 1 point with the 4 point hit, but at least I will have it done before a price rise mucks me up. In the event of a Sunderland capitulation and Cuellar scoring nothing, and City conceding, I figure it's only cost me 2 points??
Worth the gamble? Or sit it out a week?Open ControlsWith that dilemma, I might think about Nastasic, even as counterintuitive it is to take a hit for a defender. It's hard to see anything but a tonking for Sunderland in that game. I think Nastasic is first choice and it is a long term move presumably. Mignolet should wrack up a few save points, so no need to mess with him.
Open Controls
Sterling or Puncheon long term?
Open ControlsLooking at two options to take me to the January wildcard. Which looks better?
A (3-4-3)
Beg/Foster
Sagna Evans Nastasic (Demel Bardsley)
Fellaini Michu Sess Sterling* Puncheon*
RVP Rooney Suarez
* = Play 1 of 2
B (4-3-3/4-4-2)
Beg/Foster
Johnson Baines Sagna Evans (Demel)
Bale Fellaini Michu Sterling* Puncheon*
RVP Suarez Lambert*
* = Play 1 of 3.Open ControlsEvans is injured for a start.
Open ControlsI was looking for news on this yesterday!! This is the first thing I need to know. He came off in the derby after playing on with an impact injury from a collision I understand. That makes me think it's short term, but I would love news.
Open ControlsCheers, annoying. Would be good to get a time frame
Doesn't sound brilliant for this week with a hammy.
" @stewartgardner Was it that knee he got late in the first half or did he pull it later?" Pretty much what I want to know. Sounds more like the latter.Open Controls
A but u should get some1 better than Sessg IMO.
Open Controls
Vertonghen vs GJ as fpl assets. Discuss.
Open ControlsSee above for thoughts on Vert. See my team for GJ.
Open ControlsJust read it! Very very nice analysis Scroob!
Open Controls
Both attacking, Liverpool capable of CSs, so GJ>Vert imo.
Open Controls
Scroobius, once is Bale is back, do you think Dempsey will start regularly? I though Spurs would line up like this with both Bale and Adebayor
Lloris - Walker - Caulker - Gallas - Vert - Lennon - Sandro - Dembele - Bale - Adebayor - Defoe. In the same formation as Arsenal away.Open ControlsI dare someone to pick a pair (2) of forwards who have had a higher combined score since GW7 than RvP and Rooney.
Open ControlsShh. People will start to catch on that they've finally gelled together... 😉
Open Controls😉 Are we witnessing the birth of a new template then?
Open Controls
yep, if you can afford then worth it. Suarez is more involved and rotation proof but Liverpool have scored half as many goals.
Open ControlsI dare you to find me a pair of forwards who have a higher combined price as well.
Open ControlsRooney is only likely to be 1-2m higher than your second big hitting forward anyway. With so many lower price options in midfield, I don't think price is an issue.
Open ControlsWas typing this!
Open ControlsPoints > Price
Open ControlsBut you likely get the extra points from the bigger hitter elsewhere in your team. You'd have to consider which trio would get the most points...

Am I right in thinking I'm the one with most at stake on SUN/Reading being a decent game? Not only is Sess captain but I'm working a 14 hour night shift and it begins with 2 hours left at 6AM 😛
Open ControlsYou definitely trump me - i've got Shorey and Cuellar so a bore draw would suit me pretty well...
Open Controls
I don't know if this has been seen or discussed but Rooney posted this on his Facebook page earlier -
Wayne Rooney
Not feeling good at all. Had to cancel the book signing today. Sorry to all the fans who were coming, I was really looking forward to it. The date will be re-arranged, sorry again.
Not feeling good at all.

NOT GOOD?!! Rooney out vs SunderlandOpen ControlsI have had Santi for ages and am reasonably satisfied but no way would I be bringing him in now.
Open ControlsSilva - he's just starting to show signs of last seasons form... Santi is steady but i've had him since GW 1 and probably going to ship him for Bale when he's back...

Will Rooney be fine for the weekend? Struck with an illness.

Is Long worth bringing in for a hit?
What with his babe set of fixtures coming up n all...Open Controlsjust stop and ask yourself, shane long...for a hit. never mind the strikers you have are fine and have good fixtures as well, it's always a bad idea.
Open ControlsBa's ain't too appetising...
Open Controls
No way.
Open Controlsim looking at Long too but not for a hit. could be a risky move.
Open Controls
Rooneys gonna be fired up this weekend....
from his book ""If there is one team that i want to beat this season it will be Sunderland...when the fixtures come out I usually check 3 fixtures..City, Liverpool and Everton..this year I even checked Sunderland"
He wants revenge for the fans doing the Poznan on last day of season when they lost the league in injury time..could make him a good (c) choice.Open Controls"I'll never leave Everton"
Oh Roo....Open Controls
Boxing day onwards
A. Hughes and Sidwell
B. Gorkss and PilkOpen ControlsA.

Thanks for replies. Since I have Garrido already, maybe Clark is an option. Time for me to research the best options, I guess.
Open ControlsBest Arsenal defender to have? Was thinking Sagna, but he really doesn't seem nailed on with rumours of his departure, so thinking Mertesacker or Gibbs?
Open ControlsHow many more game weeks till the wildcard becomes available?
Open Controls5
Open Controls
Assuming both are fit
Cazorla or Walcott?Open ControlsAre there any standouts in the low/mid-priced forward brackets yet?
I need to move Lambert on as I'll struggle to field a full 11 otherwise (I'm also holding Puncheon and Mata who won't play) but I have no idea. I can stretch to £8.5m.
My other strikers are Rooney/Aguero and I have Ba, Berbatov, Benteke, Kone, Defoe, Giroud on my shortlist, but they all seem to have their own problems.
Probably Berbatov is first on my list if he drops again this week and I can pick him up cut price, but should I be looking more closely at any of those others?Open ControlsShane Long?
Open ControlsAlso Holt seems to be getting into a nice patch of form
Open ControlsI am in the same boat and am considering Long for his next 3 fixtures...
Open ControlsI had a look at some of these players last week and it seemed like Long was splitting his returns with Lukaku.

Steven Fletcher (mun, sou, MCI, TOT, liv) [£7.2]
Last 4 matches: 12S, 10SiB, 5SoT, 3CCOpen Controls
Berbatov still seems the standout, but I'm liking Lambert as well. Benteke is good, but they're just not scoring enough goals consistently. Ba has really tough fixtures, but could shine through.
If I had to pick this week, I'd go with Defoe and worry about rotation/dropping when it happens. Or consider a hit and going up one price bracket.Open ControlsAll of those are decent options although I am not too high on Giroud for the price. Ba has a difficult schedule ahead and Benteke looks to have gone off the boil. Defoe looks your best bet to me - Tottenham have a good short-term schedule. I really like Kone in the games I have seen him but I don't know what the Wigan schedule looks like. You might think about Shane Long too.

hi all,
mignolet (mccarthy - inj)
enrique, shawcross, nelsen, (demel, shorey)
fellaini, michu, santi, sterling, (britton)
suarez, rvp, tevez
3m in the bank, 1 FT
1. ok to replace tevez with rooney?
2. should I take a hit and replace mccarthy with federici or tremmel?Open ControlsDo I ditch Defoe or Berbs to bring Suarez back in?
Open ControlsHeurelho Gomes likely to drop today. Act fast, lads.
P.S. I'd much rather have my 4 points off the bench thanks to Guy D than see a hobbled Fletcher walk off the field after 10 minutes...Open ControlsI like Gomes. Ranks alongside Fabianski as one of my favourite keepers 😛

Is Long nailed on for WHU (H) NOR (H)?. I reckon he could get some pts here.
