Gameweek 23 may well be behind us but there’s still evidence to sift that could well unlock some vital nuggets ahead of a bout of double fixtures. In this latest Numbers Game article for Members, we give the Gameweek OPTA stats a rinse to pick out some of the top performers who may have escaped the spotlight…
Is Fabianski going to get his place back? Sczezny (sp?) has looked good.
Open Controls
Im benching VDV like you even though it feels wrong. Don't feel there is a choice though. One question.. Do i play bosingwa or djourou this week? Djourou at home against wigan could very well be a CS but i feel wigan will sneak a goal. Bosingwa has been very attacking and its just a matter of time before he grabs a goal/assist..thoughts?
Open ControlsHey guys, RMWCT
Kingston (Foster)
Kelly Vidic Coleman (jara, Murphy)
Nani, Fabrigas, Kuyt, Adam (VDV)
Rooney RVP DJ
Then without taking hits for gw27 i can get:
Foster (kingston)
R Jouhnson, Colman, Murphy, jara (vidic)
VDV, Fab, Walcot, Adam (nani)
Rvp, Odemwhignie. (tevez
I still have my other wildcard in hand so after GW27 i can WC to get team back to normal, esp if gw 28 arsenal have their fixture postponed.
any weakneses here?Open Controlslooks good in theory but will never work out, to be honest i wouldn't bother with jara rather have a brom midfielder for cover
Open Controlshmm yeah that was my main problem i was thinking with jara, i have odem for their dgw combinatiion, what else could u suggest.
Bodda why do u feel Rjohnson is a bad choice, i know its a bit risky going for 3 Birmingham defenders but in a triplle week im gauranteed at least one cleany and they have easy games.Open Controls
hmm maybe and then get djourou in for jara, safer option.
Open Controls
is berbatov not sure to play both games of his double????
Open ControlsBerba played in all the games over Xmas / New Year (4 games in 10 days). I think SAF should play a full-strength team against both Brum and Blackpool - bank the points now, because he will probably want to rotate around the CL games.
Whether he will do that is another matter - I think Chico will start one of the 2 games, whether for Rooney or Berba it's hard to say.Open ControlsWise words from 1966wagyfefecwb. Maybe Rooney gets rested for one as he's been injured?
Open Controls
I don't think he'll play 180, but should play a role in both games
Open ControlsI'm no ManU fan, but for everyone this question is difficult to answer.
Look at his history: He was rested before, but played most of the games. He should definitely start one. Anyway, I'm going to get him in and hope that he starts both, if that helps...Open Controls
My team for GW24:
Kingson (Hart)
Vidic | Hughes | Skrtel
VdV | Fabregas | Nani | Adam | N'Zogbia
RVP | Berbatov
Sub: Coleman | Konchesky | Carroll
How's it looking, do you agree with my subselection?Open ControlsLooks decent but Coleman could of course do something amazing against West Ham. It's a gamble leaving him on the bench but it's a gamble not to play a double DGW def. It's a tough call and I am currently playing him rather than bring in a third DGW def as both times I've benched him he's scored!
Open ControlsYep that was the week. I had him benched when he scored the time before also! Good chance of clean sheet too. I am on WC and have brought in a Liverpool defender but I'm still undecided as it's not unlikely for them to concede in both games.
Open Controls
I'd prefer Coleman to Skrtl despite DGW. I just don't see Liverpool keeping a clean sheet with him in the team (see my post above).
Open ControlsAgreed!
Open Controls
Stockdale is officially safe to hold his Fulham spot for another 2 weeks! Australia just won
Open Controls2 weeks though, potentially still only one GW. The final is Jan 29th, GW25 match for Fulham is Feb2, 4 days later. Schwarzer will be back in the country, even if Australia win the whole tournament.
See my big post towards the top of the first page.Open ControlsAustralia likely to play Iran on 22 Jan, Korea probably Iraq on the same day. Anyway, Cahill had a knock at the end of the game tonight, didn't look serious but who knows. Schwarzer looked good but was worked in the 2nd half. Australia gave up 1 goal (in 3 games) in the the group stage.
Open Controls
Transfers made (far too many really!). Any compelling arguments as to why I should change subs or captain?
Al-Habsi
Vidic Toure Coleman
Dempsey Nasri VDV Nani Adam
Torres(c) Berbatov
Carroll, Kolorov, Simpson
ThanksOpen ControlsI always wanted to get Paintsil (due to restricted funds) for this GW. Now nearly everyone in here comes up with Kelly.
Do we think he'll keep his place in the team for the DGW?
Would you rather have Kelly than Paintsil for the next 2 GWs?Open ControlsDo you mean the Liverpool Kelly or Fulham Kelly? I think folks are going for the Liverpool Kelly in for Konchesky. It's a risk, but a cheap one.
Open Controls
Bookies cutting the odds on Steve Buce leaving Sunderand!surely not
14-1 at the momentOpen ControlsStill pretty long. I doubt there is anything in it.
Open Controls
Coleman or Djourou to play this week. Have to bench one.
Open ControlsPlaying WC this week.
My Team as it stands is
Al Habsi
Hughes Ferdinand Alcarez
Nani Dempsey Adam Albrighton
Tevez Torrez Van Persie
Substitues: Coleman,Bardsley,VDV
Countless people have advised downgrading Torres for Fabregas and DJ Campbell but if Torres cant do it this double GW against Wolves and Fulham than he should be sold?Open ControlsWho would you drop as other three have two games, do u agree on keeping Torres or bringing in Fabs?
Open Controlsbench albrighton, play VDV
Open ControlsThat's a toughie, I would say Alcaraz on bench and Coleman in, but then Alcaraz does have two games but I think he will concede in both games, Arsenal will score at least 1 or 2, and Villa might have Darren Bent and alot more confidence by the time that game rolls around, Coleman for me
Open Controls
Drop Alcaraz for Coleman. You already have Wigan exposure with Al-Habsi and they are too unpredicatable to double-up on, especially with one of those game being Arsenal away.
You are a brave man to leave VDV out. 6.9 pts per game average compared to Albrighton's 3.8 a game (bearing in mind Albrighton is a rotation risk especially given there are two games and he got subbed off against Man City last time they played after 55 mins and was confined to the bench for the next two games ater that).Open Controls
Thinking of playing my wildcard team next week and was curious what people felt of it.
Foster-/-Stockdale (Stockdale to Schwarzer when he returns)
Johnson, R-/-Shawcross-/-Djourou-/-Coleman-/-Bardsley
VDV-/-Nani-/-Fabregas-/-Brunt-/-Etherington
Tevez-/-RvP-/-Odemwingie
Brunt will go to Cahill when he returns. Only worry for me personally is the amount of Arsenal with injuries and losing of place to others.Open ControlsThink you need Torres in there. PLaying Wolves then Fulham at home could be a big week for him.
Open Controls
How do you decide on a dogs favorite food? I've never found a good solution to this problem.
Open ControlsPut one food at one side of a room one day, and a different food on the other side of the room the next for at least 4 days, so you have two go's at each food. Then put both of them in the same room, let the dog sniff both, and see where the dog goes
Open ControlsThat's actually a good idea. I was thinking of putting 4 in the room. They can't be together, because the smells would mix. Yet they all have to be in line-of-sight, or the dog will just go to the one in his direct field of vision.
But by seperating them into two, although the test will take longer, it makes sense.
Plus, in your test, the dog won't just go immediately for what it knows, it can actively judge which one it knows is its favorite.
Good play Sir. That's been in my mind for the best part of a year on and off.Open Controls
Don't think it really matters. Dogs aren't fussy.
Open Controls
Confirmed
Pienaar will sign for Spurs
http://twitter.com/#!/therealstevenpiOpen Controlsinteresting, much better move than Chelsea, he will get his gametime there, Spurs are only a world class striker off being a very good team
Open ControlsI disagree. He would get a lot more minutes at Chelsea. He'll be another Kranjcar at Spurs.
Open ControlsWho would he displace at Chelsea? Malouda or Anelka? Anelka facilitates Drogba to such a degree it would be madness to move him, and Malouda is a better player than Pienaar in my view.
In midfield then Lampard/Essien/Mikel have that all sewn upOpen ControlsHe would he displace at spurs? Kranjcar is class and he can't get a game, Bale has the left side nailed down. Bentley is a decent player aswell and he couldn't get a game. Spurs have a lot more options then Chelsea.
Open Controls'He would' Should read 'Who would'
Open ControlsI think Harry is mindful of what happened to Villa a couple of seasons ago, when they were challenging for a top-4 spot but dropped off badly at the end of the season, with players looking knackered.
He needs a good squad to compete in PL, CL, FA Cup etc. I think it's a good move for Spurs. Not such a good move for Pienaar, for the reasons Chamakh that gives.Open ControlsYeah i agree that it's a good move for Spurs. I was just saying that i think he would get a lot more games at Chelsea.
Open Controls
"Bentley is a decent player"? Not sure I agree with that, but see my post below, I think Pienaar is better than both Krancjar and naturally Bentley in any event
Open ControlsBentley was absolute quality for us and is a more than decent player
Open Controlsthat's true, I meant of Bentley comment more that it doesn't say much about the Spurs team that Bentley couldn't get his game, there are much better players at Spurs than him, he fit well at Blackburn and will do a good job for the aerial attack minded Brummies, definitely looking at him for GW27
Open Controls+1. I was gutted when he left Arsenal. He had a good debut for birmingham, like so many others at Spurs, he just wasn't given the chance. I reckon Pienaar will go down the same route as Kranjcar, Bentley, Dos Santos etc...
Open ControlsAs long as he's picking up his wages i'm sure he'll be a happy bunny. As for Bentley, there is no better crosser of a ball in the Premiership as far as i'm concerned
Open ControlsId agree with that, probably why Wenger let him go, not much need for people who can cross at Arsenal.. 😆
Open Controls
Yeah but Pienaar isn't that world class striker. No chance that he's starting ahead of Lennon or Bale. And he's not a centre mid either. Squad player
Open ControlsI would argue that Spurs defence is pretty rubbish.
Open Controls
Could be harmful to Bale returns though. Gives Harry the option to rest Bale where there are Champions League games midweek.
Open Controls
thinkin of transferring out bale for this gw....who's a better option for the double albrighton nzogbia or dempsey???
Open Controlsnzog or dempsey
Open Controlsif i get albrighton or nzogbia i can get torres leaving me with two strikers of torres and tevez for this week....if i take dempsey wnt be able to get torres will get berba instead then...
i will have a mid field of nani adam nasri fab (the new transferred in player)...
i'll bench welbeck.....also doing kolarov>coleman...btw the striker i'm transferring out is elmander...
have 3.5 in bank....alll the above for a 8pt hit....Open ControlsGet Dempsey
Open Controls
not relly? he is a class player and will provide good cover/competition for right mid
for £2m id say its another quality signingOpen Controls£2m, didn't know that. Cracking little signing. Not that they need him at all. But it means that no other team in the prem has him if nothing else. I would of took him for £10m at West Ham.
Open ControlsIt's £3M but still hardly bank breaking, I just hope the wages aren't too high.
Open Controls
I think it's a great signing for Spurs, he is better than Lennon imo
Open ControlsWell Bale has the left sewn up, Palacios and Modric will be in the middle (albeit that Modric floats around), and VDV supporting the striker in the CAM capacity means that the right is the only position open? So in that case, I would prefer Pienaar
Open ControlsLennon is 10 times faster than Peanut. Pace is Lennon's main strength
Open Controls
Would have been better off moving to Chelsea, he would have got a lot more minutes.
Open ControlsHe'll get game time to rest Lennon/Bale/VDV after CL matches.
He's a squad player who can play in a fair few positions and may hasten the departure of Kranjcar who is less versatile. I guess that's a good thing but for a squad player I really hope we haven't spent too much on his wages.Open ControlsHe didn't sign at Everton cause they wouldn't match the wages so I'm guessing they are decent
Open ControlsHe wanted the same pay as Arteta (75k) to stay at Everton. So it should be in the region of 70k plus
Open Controls
Apparently the deal with Chelsea fell through due to wage demands, so I'd also like to know what numbers this lad is on per week.
Open ControlsIs that how much he might be getting paid @ tottenham?
Open Controls
and apparently the Chelsea deal fell through as they wouldn't accept his wage demands...
Let's say he wants 40K a week, hardly unreasonable in this day and age and no doubt it was higher...
40K * 52 = £2mil a year :/
So, if it were 60K we're basically paying him the price we paid to sign him every year to get some cover / better player sitting on the bench.Open ControlsHe was on 60k at Everton. He will have asked for 80k or more from Chelsea
Open Controls
someone posted that fabianski is out for next two premier league games, is this true? Arsenal site says wenger expects fabianski to be fit for weekend
Open Controlsteam for this week..
Hart
Hughes Rio Skrtl (Simpson, huth)
nani nasri nzog adam (VDV)
torres RVP DJ
Any thoughts?? who is everyone captaining?Open ControlsChances of Bent starting for Villa this weekend? Chances of Rooney playing only one of the two for the double gw?
And Boardwalk Empire is great.Open ControlsIf Bent signs then i would imagine he will start. He will be no. 1 striker at Villa, all the more likely if he gets a couple of days training with his new teammates. All depends on when deal is completed i guess.
Does seem a strange transfer. Wonder if there is something going on at Sunderland? does make Gyan a more attractive prospect though...Open Controls
Bent Bent Bent Bent Bent.
Now what to do with him? I was certain of getting rid. Now he is a Villa player what should I do? Keep him for the double or get Rooney/Berba?Open ControlsWell, we should know soon, and Villa have a DGW
Wait and see, maybe problem solved! 🙂Open ControlsI know! Thats what is annoying. Because it is risky, but getting rid of someone before a DGW is never a good idea. But hopefully the move is delayed. I also much prefer Man U's DGW.
Open ControlsGreg, did you make your decision on the Cheryl Cole v Jordan with no tits dilemma?
Open ControlsWhat?! That isn't even a fair contest, Cheryl Cole with no tits over Jordan with tits are otherwise, Jordan is awful looking
Open ControlsHaven't got the link, but he was asking who he should take to his school prom - uglier girl who he asked and she said yes, or fit girl who originally said maybe, and has now said yes.
Anyway, Jordan before she bought her tits was really fit (when she was 19 or 20), the plastic has ruined her.Open Controls
Raise your hand if you want to ask a question, don't just shout out 😆
Open Controls
VDV, Fabs or Nasri on the bench this week?
Open ControlsI say good day.
Messing around with my team (isn't linked yet, sorry) and wondering how crucial Nani is for the double gameweek and beyond? I've got Vidic and Berba for ManU cover and 2 free transfers - thinking of doing Bale/MGP for Dempsey/N'Zogbia vs. Nani/pure, pine-riding dirt.. Is he really that important to the ManU cause?Open ControlsYes.
He had a poor game at the weekend, but he has been a focal point for the United team this season and will continue to provide some decent deliveries into the box from the right for the man mountain Vidic to get his noggin' on.
I would say Nani in your midfield is almost an essential this season.Open Controls
Apparently Pienaar just tweeted this
"To end speculation I am going to Spurs. I've had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart."Open Controlshe did, link is above
Open Controls
Who do i bench this week
A. Adam
B. Berbatov
C. Nasri (ive got rvp and fab)Open ControlsNasri
Open Controls
how about my wild card ? Am i gone toooo wild with that or its fine ?
Stockdale/Foster
Kelly-Coleman-Simpson-Murphy-Walker
Nani.Nasri.Walcot.CAdam.Dempsey
Rooney=Tevez=TorresOpen Controlsaccording to his twitter Pienaar said he's gonna be wearing number the 40 shirt...lol...
Open ControlsProbably coz theirs 39 players more likely to play.
I'll throw this out their, Bale moved left back, Pienaar left wing?...Open Controls
anybody know why nani was taken off in the 60th min against spurs?

Okay, I'm playing my wildcard this week and have settled on my midfield/attack and am happy with it. BUT I keep going over and over my defence and keepers and chopping and changing. Does anyone with a spare few minutes fancy having a little look at what keepers/defenders you could get for 28.8 million?
At the moment I'm liking the look of Hutton, Kelly and Coleman but would happily shift it around. In goal I've been looking at Fabianski and Begovic but would be happy to change for a better suggestion... Any thoughts on a 28.8 mill GK/DEF combo?
