The Gameweek is brought to a close by one of the most memorable Fantasy hauls of this or any season, as Santi Cazorla orchestrates a mauling of Reading in front of their own fans. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday’s events at the Madjeski…

On the Up

Santi Cazorla
An incredible display by the Spaniard who, perhaps for one night only, turned his superb performance statistics into staggering returns. Our members will know all too well just how impressive Cazorla has been in terms of numbers and tonight he delivered on that promise with a midfield hat-trick haul that has surely cemented his place amongst the true heavy-hitters. Reading were woeful but Carzola punished them without mercy.

Theo Walcott
The night could have belonged to winger turned striker but, in the end, Walcott played second fiddle to the sparkling Santi. Regardless, Walcott’s move to the central striker role gave Arsenal menace up front and Theo came out with a goal to his name and facing the prospect of leading the line at Wigan at the weekend. There’s no way Cazorla owners will be making the switch just now but could their be a case for finding room for both of Wenger’s midfield assets in the short-term? We need to see this new look Arsenal against opposition less obliging than Brian McDermott’s side.

Kieran Gibbs
Arsenal conceded again but, with superior possession in matches, will inevitably keep clean sheets over the second half the season and Gibbs, as demonstrated tonight, can supplement this potential with attacking returns. More expensive that Bacary Sagna on the right, but perhaps more secure given that Thomas Vermaelen would seem set to remain at centre-back, Gibbs will earn new suitors off the back of tonight’s returns.

Lukas Podolksi
Quietly and efficiently, the German has shifted onto five goals and five assists for the season after tonight’s showing. Whilst the attention and investment will go the way of Arsenal’s midfield talent, Podolski deserves some praise for having seemingly adapted well to the Premier League stage and a role primarily out on the Gunners flank.

Going Down

Olivier Giroud
Relegated to the bench tonight, it seems unlikely that he’ll earn an immediate recall at Wigan and could now spend some time as a spectator whilst Arsenal drag themselves back into form and top four contention. Giroud has stalled again as a Premier League prospect and Fantasy asset in a less than convincing opening to his career in England.

The Reading Defence
It’s hard to sum up just how porous the Royals’ back four appeared at times. They have now conceded 13 goals in the last four league outings and it’s almost as easy as backing their opponents for three or four strikes every week. Reading go to City at the weekend, with Fantasy managers now desperately attempting to crowbar a secure City asset into their squad; easier said than done.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Easy, Enrique/Rafael to Zaba, coz you don't want any hit and you won't sell mata/silva to Walcott or Rooney to Aguero.

If you can accept getting players other than those 3, I suggest u to get rid of Fellaini or Berba

    Morning All,

Chuffed to bits with my Santi punt. Any tips for the next few games:-

    Beg, Jaask,
    Baines, Enrique, Nelsen, Demel, Shorey,
    Fellaini, Santi, Mata, Michu, Punchy,
    RVP, Suarez, Fletcher

    I'm thinking maybe
    a. Fellaini & Fletcher > Taarabt & Tevez
    b. Fellaini & Enrique> Silva & Clark
    c. Fellaini & Enrique> Bale & Clark

Got 2 Ft and 0.4m in the bank. Thanks in advance!

That sucks dude. But it isn't game over. Whatever rank changes have happened in 5 weeks can easily happen in reverse. And that leaves loads of weeks left to go further.

And it gets easier to rise the longer the season goes on because the ghost ships start faltering through injuries and form drops.

Don't be silly. I've gone 50K to 500K in 12 weeks and I still hope for a top 50K finish. Why? Because if I can drop that many places in 12 weeks, I can do it in reverse. And that leaves 8 weeks to go further.

the latter although he only missed one game so probably just rotated for a rest.

Actually think it was very good management by Fergie to play him against city as it renewed his confidence. Had they lost the game then it wouldn't have been the end of the world considering city's record at home in recent seasons.

After saturday's games I had 32 points and had climbed 100K! (but fell back again 120K by this morning again, thank you very much Mr Santi Cazorla). Shows how tight it is.

Defoe, RVP and Suarez are my current strikers.

Already did Fellaini to Yaya so no FT left...

Should I take a hit to bring in a City forward or will Suarez and Defoe do for this week?

both got decent fixtures so think you should stick. you could end up getting a rotated city striker in while defoe and suarez get goals...

Spoke to Mark last night, obviously he was having a massive gloat about Cazorla.

We were discussing getting Dzeko in. It has it's merits. Whatever happens, he will play some part in the game.

I thought I was restrained on Santi to be honest 😉 We're talking about a huge Ronaldo like points haul for a player plenty wrote off as a Modric clone.

Dzeko is still brewing - definite differential this weekend. Little chance of Balotelli figuring so, unless Mancini is going to flog Aguero and Tevez ahead of the Sunderland trip, the Bosnian has a part to play in dismantling the Reading back line.

The stats say that Cazorla is a very different player to Silva in terms of goal threat. Creativity wise, Silva is untouchable though so it will depend on others taking their chances I think.

Aye it was a shock tbh, didn't think he could pull off the biggest points haul of the season.

Coming on after 65 mins against a deflated Reading defence. Dzeko is actually better coming off the bench.

Yep, and with Nastasic and Sterling rest/rotation threats, spending the four actually makes sense as it gives me that extra player as a safeguard.

The difference being Ronaldo could do it against anyone. I'll be convinced when Cazorla can do that against a City or a United.

So difficult...any could find themselves on the bench this week. In many ways, Dzeko looks best because he can be your third striker with two heavy hitters. Tevez and Aguero suck up more funds and I think one of them will be benched.

          Hmmm.
Had money to make the Fellaini to Silva move, but now am wondering whether it is nuts to also take a four-pointer to move Berbatov out for a brief Dzeko pit-stop on my way to somebody else.
          That's crazy talk? right?

Would let me go 3-4-3 with front seven of RVP-Dzeko-Defoe // Michu-Santi-Silva-Puncheon

    A: a cheap mid i.e. snodgrass/dembele + torres/tevez
    B: bale/silva + berbs

Whats better? I think B since berb is great value at 7m as opposed to a 7m midfielder...AND between a big hitter in mid and a big hitter in striker, there is not a massive difference...

    thoughts?
