Since Harry Redknapp acquired Rafael Van der Vaart from Real Madrid on the last day of the August transfer window, there has been a nagging doubt in the back of many a Fantasy Manager’s mind regarding a certain Tottenham-owned Welsh wing wonder. Opinion is pretty much split as to whether Spurs’ multitude of creative midfield options means Gareth Bale will predominantly take his place in the starting XI as a full-back or a flying winger.

Owned by an incredible 50% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bosses, Bale is the most popular player in the game, thanks, in part, to his performances in the latter stages of last season and a relatively cheap starting price this time round.

Redknapp has always stated he sees Bale’s long term future as a full-back and the young Welshman definitely offers Spurs more dynamism and creativity from deep than Benoit Assou-Ekotto. So far this league season, Bale has played three full games in midfield, two in defence, and one -against Wigan- where he started in midfield before moving back in the second-half.

So the key question is, how does the shift in position affect Bale’s performance and Fantasy potential? Let’s delve into the the Members’ Opta stats for further analysis.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is Zuiverloon ever going to get a game in the PL? Think Jara's got his spot? I've got him in a team where no transfers are allowed, and he's not playing much!

Still searching for a possible replacement for Arshavin.

Now I have looked at David Silva....

    Questions.

Likely to play? Chance of assists/goals.

Completely aginst the grain of the sheep who just buy the same players. Feedback...

only trade off is that Coleman isn't playing in df, so may pick up and assist which offsets your 4pts a little. And Carroll i think Man C keep conceding to the "lesser" teams.

Is Evans likely to start for ManU? Have held off changing him because I don't like spending trfrs on defenders unless I can't play three that week. Lost 0.2 on him to date and will get rid at some point but would like to have 2 trfrs for the int'l break. In summary, should I play him and risk 1 point or bench him and put Givet in?

I still have Ashley but think there are other options that can save you 2-3 million...he'll get the occasional assist or goal, but that's a lot of savings that can earn points elsewhere

i'm not planning on making any subs this week so that i can do torres->berbatov, & arshavin->fabs without taking any hits next week.

Do you think this team is strong enough to see me thro this gameweek?

Leave it. I'd only want rid of Jerome and AJ and even then, you could do one a week to roll over the 2nd trfr for a more pressing week. Solid team IMO.

I don't think you need to WC unless you want something to do over the international break.

AJ needs to go, and Bale possibly needs moving out-although he isn't urgent. I think G Johnson is overkill for liverpool defence as you have 'The Conch'-and he hasn't provided the goods for a £7.5 mil defender so far.

cheers. will be plenty to do only with 2 transfers

GJ and AJ are both on their way over to the door

not sure about Bale yet, but upgrading him to VdV might be an option as Cesc+Tevez will ruin my defensive line

evening chaps/chappesses, I'vespent all week mulling this over. will Liverpool turn up & will city run riot? After both playing Fairly lethargic ties on thursday?

I never thought I'd bring myself to say it, but.....

Is it worth shelving Arshavin & Drogba

and getting in Gerrard & Tevez?

Your help is very much appreciated. I don't have much hair left.

I read somewhere on here that VdVs career goalscoring record is quite mediocre. Why should it change now?
