Earlier this morning, Southampton’s official twitter feed were first to give Fantasy managers the heads-up of a potential double Gameweek 22. The Saints’ previously postponed trip to Chelsea – cancelled due to the latter’s World Club Championship involvement last month – has now been pencilled in for Wednesday January 16.

Whether the league clash takes place all depends on the result of tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round match between the two clubs. If the game ends all square, the above-mentioned date will be utilised for a cup replay and the league match rescheduled for another, as yet unspecified, time – if either side win, the double Gameweek will take place.

The news now adds an unexpected twist to the winter wildcard scenario. We could now, potentially, have back-to-back double Gameweeks to plan for, bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham have a double the following week.

Southampton also visit Villa in Gameweek 22 and, while Chelsea face a testing trip to Stoke, there’s no doubt the home clash at the Bridge looks enticing, in spite of the Blues’ surprise loss to QPR last Wednesday. Indeed, Rafa Benitez’s decision to hand Juan Mata and Eden Hazard brief second-half sub roles against Harry Redknapp’s side should ensure they both start tomorrow’s match – boosting the Blues’ chances of progress.

Demba Ba’s move to Stamford Bridge – confirmed at midday by the Blues – brings him immediately onto the radar. At this moment, Ba is still classified as a Newcastle player in Fantasy games, meaning managers could conceivably, have four Blues players for the double if they choose to load up on Benitez’s side – a very risky tactic, however, given we’ll be wanting Arsenal and West Ham options in our squads immediately afterwards. The likes of Ross Turnbull could also come into the equation, offering us a cut-price short-term keeper option if Petr Cech remains sidelined.

While nothing is set in stone yet, the news at least shakes up our tactics and offers plenty variety to our approaches – undoubtedly good news, given the many identikit RMWCT posts currently doing the rounds.

All eyes on St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon, then.

    Afternoon chaps,

If I gave you the following team:

    Szczesny
    Johnson Nelsen Cuellar
    Bale(c) Walcott Fellaini Michu
    RVP Tevez Ba

    Gazzaniga Noble O'Brien Gorkss

    Would you:

    a) keep Ba?
    b) Ba to Berbatov for a hit?
    c) Ba to Defoe for a hit?
    d) Gorkss to Hughes for a hit?

Yep. I'd be too tempted to play him, when he draws a blank at Stoke and then gets benched for Southampton.

Ba won't score as much for Chelsea as he has for Newcastle. He will be rotated.

Stoke-Chelsea is not going to be a high-scoring match.

2 free transfers and 2 wildcards!! What to do?!

    Wildcard 1 (gw22) :

    Turnbull, Luiz, Mata
    Ramirez, Puncheon, Shaw
    Gibbs, Walcott, Podolski
    Jaaskelainen, Demel

    Wildcard 2 (gw24):

    Back to a balanced team.

Never mind, found it in the FAQ section.

"If a player is transferred to another team in the Barclays Premier League, and this transfer takes you over the 3 players per team limit, then you will need to go back under the limit when making your next transfers."

Of course, very real chance that many DGW players still only get played in one, especially a team like CHE with it's biggish squad. Second DGW would probably encourage me to take a hit or two rather than use both WCs.

I'm guessing there's loads of similar questions, but please help me out.
I'm a bit of a noobie to this and don't know if what I'm thinking is stupidity or not.

Am thinking of using the Jan wildcard to do:

    Jussi - Turnbull
    Reid - Gibbs - Luiz - Davies - Clyne
    Mata - Ramirez - Walcott - Michu - Nolan
    Suarez - RVP - Lambert

And then using my regular WC to sort my team out afterwards.

Going in with 7 DGWers, and 4 for the week after.

    Turnbull // (Begovic)
    Luiz // Shaw // O'Brien // (Gibbs) // (Shawcross)
    Mata // Walcott // Puncheon // Cazorla // (Michu)
    Ba // Lambert // Suarez

    Thoughts?

I think this is the problem of DGWs. You have to ask yourself whether you're just going to get the score from the decent fixture plus 2 points for the appearance for the hard one.

I'd imagine Chelsea/Stoke will be low scoring so it could be frustrating if Chelsea players are rested for the Soton game!

That;s why I'm ticking with my one Saints player, will captain Mata and maybe get in a chelsea defender...can't afford luiz sadly.

I think one chelsea attacker is key as stoke can be unlocked with amazing skill...which Mata is the proud owner of.

You deserve everything you get when you take a hit at the beginning of a two week break.

Ok WC team changed to accomodate the possible Chelsea DGW22 and also the Arsenal DGW23... Any suggestions for improvement...

    Begovic Bunn
    O'Brien R.Martin Azpilicueta Fonte Sagna
    Walcott Mata Bale Michu Noble
    Torres Ba RVP

With Suarez likely to move to a wide position and with tough fixtures, his points haul will be likely reduced... Also Azpi should start both DGW games due to Terry still being out... unless Richards moves to Chelsea... But he is also still injured I guess...
