Earlier this morning, Southampton’s official twitter feed were first to give Fantasy managers the heads-up of a potential double Gameweek 22. The Saints’ previously postponed trip to Chelsea – cancelled due to the latter’s World Club Championship involvement last month – has now been pencilled in for Wednesday January 16.

Whether the league clash takes place all depends on the result of tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round match between the two clubs. If the game ends all square, the above-mentioned date will be utilised for a cup replay and the league match rescheduled for another, as yet unspecified, time – if either side win, the double Gameweek will take place.

The news now adds an unexpected twist to the winter wildcard scenario. We could now, potentially, have back-to-back double Gameweeks to plan for, bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham have a double the following week.

Southampton also visit Villa in Gameweek 22 and, while Chelsea face a testing trip to Stoke, there’s no doubt the home clash at the Bridge looks enticing, in spite of the Blues’ surprise loss to QPR last Wednesday. Indeed, Rafa Benitez’s decision to hand Juan Mata and Eden Hazard brief second-half sub roles against Harry Redknapp’s side should ensure they both start tomorrow’s match – boosting the Blues’ chances of progress.

Demba Ba’s move to Stamford Bridge – confirmed at midday by the Blues – brings him immediately onto the radar. At this moment, Ba is still classified as a Newcastle player in Fantasy games, meaning managers could conceivably, have four Blues players for the double if they choose to load up on Benitez’s side – a very risky tactic, however, given we’ll be wanting Arsenal and West Ham options in our squads immediately afterwards. The likes of Ross Turnbull could also come into the equation, offering us a cut-price short-term keeper option if Petr Cech remains sidelined.

While nothing is set in stone yet, the news at least shakes up our tactics and offers plenty variety to our approaches – undoubtedly good news, given the many identikit RMWCT posts currently doing the rounds.

All eyes on St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon, then.

    Well, well, well.

    Assuming DGW22 is on, I might do something exciting like Gazzaniga to Turnbull or Gorkss to a Southampton defender. I could do Tevez to Torres, but that's almost as uninspiring as the defensive switches.

    So, I think I'll go back to plan A - Bale in for Mata.

    I don't suppose we have any insight into the Southampton keeper situation? Any Saints fans or followers?

    If there isn't a draw tomorrow...

    Begovic - Turnbull
    Shawx- Azpil - Demel - OBrien - Clyne
    Santi - Walcott - Mata - Michu - Puncheon
    RVP - Suarez - Lambert

    Trying to strike the balance between a team that will perform well over the double double gameweek, without crippling me for the rest of the season. I'd like to get Nolan in, but that would require dropping Mata or Michu in GW23, and I have a decent bit of value in them.

    Plan after would be:
    GW23 Azpil -> Gibbs
    GW24 Santi -> Bale
    GW25 Lambert -> Berba

    I think this is a little more balanced than some of the madder WC going around, and it only takes 3 moves to bring me back to a team I'm happy with. No fellaini, but someone has to lose out.

    -8 is enough for this DGW right, would leave me with 2 CHE and 1 SOT, SOT have 2 away and Chelsea have Stoke away, Turnbull, Clyne and Mata (c) should do the job.

    Are we looking at Ba as a legitimate dgwk pick?

    I still have him but was going to get rid for Berba (He's my only current chelsea player!)

    After signing Joe Cole and Chamakh, West Ham are said to be looking to buy any unused footballs that fans may have at home.

    Repost:

    Looking for a single change this week, my team looks like this at the moment:

    Begovic Jaask
    Gibbs Caulker Cameron Davies McCartney
    Mata Bale Walcott Michu Sterling
    Berbatov RVP Ba

    Got 1 FT and 0.9 mill in the bank.

    Was thinking either of getting McCartney out or Caulker -> O’Brien what do you think?

    I think everybody should work out what their WC will look like for GW25 and work back adding DGWers in to see if you can take advantage of the doubles. An odd 4 point hit to fix is not the worse when you could be as much as 40 points better off in the next two

          I'm sure he will be back soon.

          Btw No offence to Doos, I really like him but that should not have merited a post of it's own.

        Chucked a little hissy fit after a few people criticised his WC team.

          I'm sure he'll be fine. You can't put Victor Anichebe in your WC team and not expect a bit of ribbing!

    I think I'm gonna keep my season-long WC intact. I already have:

    Chelsea: Torres
    Southampton: Fonte, Puncheon
    West Ham: Jussi, Demel
    Arsenal: Gibbs, Caz, Walcott.

    Fed --> Turnbull, Michu --> Mata (-4) gives me 3 Chelsea. 10 DGW players over two weeks is more than plenty I think. Keep the WC?

    Anyone else avoiding Ba?

    - Likely to only half of Chelsea's minute - rotation with Torres
