Where did it all go wrong?

Mark claims I should be fined by the FPL for fielding an understrength side for the last few weeks. Cheeky! I just put it down to ‘dark forces at work’, not my fault at all.

So a disastrous double game week for me, then, whilst wildcard-wielding Mark ‘smashed it’, and our rivalry has turned on its head yet again.

Up for discussion today is not the offside rule, but the case for Dimitar Berbatov.

I’m off to the Fantasy Island for a bit of soul searching and I’m bringing no one with me. Enjoy your Dzeko time Mark. Interesting that he stated that he always wanted to come to this island despite having never heard of it.

    Interesting exercise with the captaincy choice thing TM.

    I hope that Katie goes on to win the whole thing or at least be the highest ranked FFS poster.
    She is very brave with her team selections and capt. choices and I admire her for that.

      Seems to be a lot of love for Katie all of a sudden. Few weeks/months back and everyone was going nuts over was it a man/woman and now she/he is 12th everyones going mad!

      I remember he/she saying they wouldn't ever comment on this site again at one point.

      I really rate Barton, but the poor guy is gonna be spending most of his time on my bench over the next few weeks. Even questionable whether he'll get played for his double with other choices with better fixtures. But for value he's brilliant.

        Seeing you have 1220 & bench points are 174 it sorted doesn't make sense. Bench points aren't really relevant unless you have big point scorers there.

    Is anyone else feeling a bit deflated by how similar most of the teams posted are to their WC teams? Makes me tempted to drop a couple of 'must-haves' and take a punt or two... I say that, but come the deadline I'll probably be playing safe and having another generic team...

      Not really man. The FFS fan-base isn't as large as you may think considering the number of overall players.

        Well that is a fair point. Spending time on here, it's easy to forget that this is (somehow?) still a small percentage of fantasy players. I'm reminded of that at times like when it seemed like everyone here had a player like Kolarov, but yet their overall ownership is 1.5% or something.

        Always has been, even if most of your players do nothing, if you pick the right captain who gets you 20-30 points, you'll of done alright.

        Liv want £50m or cash plus Anelka, apparently. Chelsea want to offer £33m plus Sturridge.

        Sounds like a deal will get done. Drogba owners may not be too pleased to hear that.

          Could be good for Drogba if they form a decent partnership. I don't think they will settle for £33m plus Sturridge. If Chelsea are that desperate they may be able to hold out for close to £50m + Anelka although I think Chelsea would be a bit silly to do that.

    I just realised I took the link out of my name to keep it a secret from potential mini league rivals scouting (pun intended) this site.

    But I'm in the FFS league, so really I may as well have a link. No-one has ever questioned what that league is but I reckon if they found out I browse this site regularly they would call our bet off (if I win the league that is).

                I wouldn't do that. I think you've missed Merelies points already, I'm not convinced he will keep scoring that much. Maybe odd games but not consistently.

                I'd prefer the Welbeck transfer and bench Dempsey.

      I think you need to get rid of Jaask at some point soon, guess you can do that in GW27 though. I'd probably just play your mids this week, although the Odem transfer could be good.

          Yeah it is, but Fulham don't score that many and he's being pushed back into a midfield position. He has scored nicely the last 3 weeks but I don't see that this week.

          I'd prefer Adam at home to a struggling West Ham side who after their cup exit could be low on confidence. Both are on pens though so it is a tough call. Newcastle are just too inconsistent for my liking, I'd go with Adam, and that's what I am doing.

      Not that big I'd say, still plenty of time to go. I've seen my league go from 100 points to 8 points and now back to about 80 points again in one of my leagues.

      I think that some of the big points scorers like Nani, VDV etc may slow down in their scoring rate. If so then there may be a few different variations in teams. Obviously this all depends on your mini leaguers etc. For example in one of my leagues hardly anyone currently has RVP or Torres. Now Torres is a big hit and miss but RVP is scoring nicely. So if I was 40 clear and could have RVP as a differential I'd be quite happy.

      Really depends on your team, your mini league rivals and a whole lot of other factors.

          I don't really rate Kuyt, and he will be off penalties now Gerrard is back. Dempsey has been good to me but upcoming fixtures mean I'm getting rid. Torres is alright I guess, but again I'm getting rid this week or next for RVP. DJ isn't good long term.

          I'd rather have your differentials then hers, you need to get rid of Albrighton if you can afford it though. He hasn't been getting much gametime recently.

              Yeah bench warmers are nice I guess. I've kind of learnt my lesson from the christmas period in having a decent squad. I got caught out quite a few times.

              With Champions league and cup games about to all come at once, I'm going to make sure I have a front 8 who will all generally play. My midfielders are pretty much first on their teamsheets so even if someone like Berbatov or RVP gets rested I'll still be able to field a pretty decent front 7. That's my aim with my wildcard at least.

        lol. true it can. but when you have alot of the same players, its alot more difficult. we have quite a few main diffs as stated above. the rest are about the same vdv nani berba etc. i still fancy my team to do better with my players...but i would.
