A disappointing Monday night affair saw Southampton dominate the opening period, only to concede ground in the second-half as Everton gained superiority. With little on show for Fantasy managers, here’s the Monday night Stock Check…

On the Up

The Southampton Defence
A second clean sheet in the last three maintained the form of the much-improved Saints rearguard. With Artur Boruc making several key saves, he is presenting a seemingly assured budget option in goal for a 4.4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag, while both Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne go on offering value for their 4.0 valuations.

Leighton Baines
In truth, the service from the Toffees left-back was not up to its usual standard but, having gained his second consecutive clean sheet, Baines delivered returns and, pre-bonus, is now just six points of the top of the FPL defender rankings. With West Brom and Villa at Goodison in the next two, further profits look on the cards for those who have kept the faith.

Going Down

Marouane Fellaini
It’s no goal in his last five starts for the towering Belgian. More significantly perhaps, the injury to Seamus Coleman forced a reshuffle that saw David Moyes shift him back to a deeper central midfield role and introduce Victor Anichebe up front. With Kevin Mirallas looking bright from the bench on his return from injury, Moyes has further attacking options and there will be slight concerns that the Everton boss may consider a change of position for Felliani having seen his side draw consecutive blanks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is it crazy if I ditch Bale just for next two fixtures (nor wba) and take a punt at Fletcher instead?

If it helps whatsoever, it'll mean I can keep Puncheon instead of Marveux later on.

I'd say they have equal chances of keeping CS in their home fixtures and Clyne is definetely more attacking. I am not even sure Deme's spot is secure when people come back from injury. Ask Doos.

It's really fascinating to see people who have taken multiple 4, and even 8, point hits and have done very well. It just goes to show you there isn't really a right or wrong answer when it comes to taking hits.

since gw 18 i've taken 4 hits and overall i'd say they payed off pretty nicely

gw 19: rafa to nasty, sess to bale (-4)
gw 20: sterling to marveaux, michu to walcott (-4)
gw 22: enrique to o'brien, suarez to ba, maloney to mata (-8)

I understand the perspective, but Shaw has yet to score a goal or assist, granted he has had less minutes played and Clyne has best PPI for Southampton defenders, which could help out with BAPs. To be honest, both are fair shouts.

Looking at City's fixtures, QPR and Southampton away are both tougher fixtures than they would have been a month ago. Sometimes it takes a while for us to psychologically adjust to teams gaining defensive momentum. QPR, Southampton, and Reading are letting in as many goals as they were earlier in the season.

Hey guys can u rate my team!
Used WC alr on GW 21. 6 green arrows in the last 6 weeks and hoping to continue!
    Mignolet-Jaas
    Demel-Gibbs-Zabaleta-Shaw-Mariappa
    Walcott-Mata-Puncheon-Fellani-Nolan
    RvP-Suarez-Lambert

Should i replace lambert and nolan with someone better? Thanks for the advice! No power 5 though.

    Begovic, Federici
    Zabaleta, Gibbs, Davies, Demel, Clyne
    Mata, Bale, Santi, Michu, Puncheon
    Suarez, Ba, Fletcher

Used up my FT for Lambert > Fletcher this week. 2.7m in the bank

Now I'm lagging behind in my national league (can't seem to break the top 10) and getting caught up in my mini league. Admittedly I have my points on the bench this week, and the lack of RvP is hurting me (4-6 poin difference each week)

Any suggestions on how/when I should use my original wildcard?

I'd be playing it now and booting Zab, Gibbs, Santi, Ba and Fletch. You have to find a way of getting RVP in. Bringing in ubercheap defenders and downgrading some players (Santi for Wal) would be a priority on your w/c.

I was getting excited that I have caught up with you and then I saw you have Davies coming on 😀 Well done.

Yes, I will probably get rid of Podolski for Dzeko, Berbatov, Benteke, Defoe...can't decide. The only way I can bring in Aguero is by downgrading Baines, but his fixtures are too good and they are finally keeping clean sheets.

You will stick with two Arsenal players against sturdy 'Pool?

Am considering Podolski to Fletcher or someone , however i feel that is a rather short term move.
What i really need to do is downgrade Luiz to free up funds so i can have any second striker i choose.
However Chelsea have reading next so thought i would keep luiz for that , then have two frees Has the added advan;tage of having another week to monitor Aguero. If he dosentlook good can switch to plan B of having Suarez as second striker

Got lucky with Davies, a tasty ten points coming off the bench , should hopefully turn some red arrows green

Sounds like a decent plan. I am content with rotating the second striker based on fixtures in the short term, as the 5 in midfield are performing every week. For now, it works well.

I understand why Doosra is saying Defoe is on good 'form. He is hitting the target and according to Chris Glover, that's the best statistical indicator of goals. I may consider him then, although going with two Spurs players against a Norwich team that keeps it tight at the back at home isn't that inspiring.

It sounds as if you searching for a transfer that dosent fit into a long term plan. Defoe?
Podolski at home to Liverpool isnt really worse than Defoe away to Norwich , not when it saves a valuable transfer.
If you must make one then Fletcher would appear the obvious short term punt

Is that the plan for many of us now then?

3-5-2, with a rotating striker to sit next to RVP, taking into account rotation, fixtures and form, and using Benteke, Fletcher, Dzeko and company as examples?

If Mata is enough coverage for the Chelsea Rafa-ttack, then RVP and Fletch looks like the way to go for the 3-5-2, with SUarez or Sturridge surely taking over from Fletch in a couple weeks.

It feels great going into a gameweek with that midfield every week I tell ya 🙂

My plan is to play 532 (most weeks, may occasionally play pog)

Once i have sorted defence out i plan to leave that and the midfield alone.
Using transfers only to change the second striker based on form and fixtures

Of course injuries/ suspensions and posponements will likel get in the way, but its
good to have an overall plan to avoid aimless transfers

Any Opinions on bringing in Aguero, he's down to 10.9 now but seems to have good form but has had some injuries to contend with. City have good fixtures and someone has to score their goals.

QPR have only really looked vulnerable against Liverpool in the last few games, mostly because Suarez was running at Nelsen and Hill, twisting and turning. Aguero should run riot next week.

Can you even get a word in during non-DZ hours???

There isn't even any international rubbish this summer is there? Not that I know of at least besides friendlies, tours and transfers.

What's everyone's thoughts on Bale? Worth getting in or is he just too inconsistent to justify his price..

One has already scored and his first name is Loic.

Let's all hope there'll be one named Rodamel, another named Lionel, one named Cristiano, another named Edison, and possibly one less named Luis 🙂

no unless you nee to do something crazy imo...logic doesn't agree. only 2 shots on target against spurs. Roopig prob off pens too...better ways to spend and spread the money

    a) lampard and aguero
    b) hazard and ba

which one to take..i was going for hazard and aguero but money doesn't permit me to take it.. so is it prudent to take lamps instead of hazard? i mean will lampard start in the upcoming fixtures?

Ba is too much of a rotation risk imo. I just shipped him out.

yes..he is too much rotation risk now.. but with good fixtures he can score some goals too..

my concern is about aguero too.. will he start in the coming games especially since dzeko has hit form and tevez doing a decent job

I like A actually. I reckon Aguero's gonna be nailed on and explode this half of season
While Lampard will want to score goals to break that record. Going out with a bang.

If only Mata wasn't this on fire I would've picked Lamps.
