634x258 The Stock Check

A disappointing Monday night affair saw Southampton dominate the opening period, only to concede ground in the second-half as Everton gained superiority. With little on show for Fantasy managers, here’s the Monday night Stock Check…

On the Up

The Southampton Defence
A second clean sheet in the last three maintained the form of the much-improved Saints rearguard. With Artur Boruc making several key saves, he is presenting a seemingly assured budget option in goal for a 4.4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag, while both Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne go on offering value for their 4.0 valuations.

Leighton Baines
In truth, the service from the Toffees left-back was not up to its usual standard but, having gained his second consecutive clean sheet, Baines delivered returns and, pre-bonus, is now just six points of the top of the FPL defender rankings. With West Brom and Villa at Goodison in the next two, further profits look on the cards for those who have kept the faith.

Going Down

Marouane Fellaini
It’s no goal in his last five starts for the towering Belgian. More significantly perhaps, the injury to Seamus Coleman forced a reshuffle that saw David Moyes shift him back to a deeper central midfield role and introduce Victor Anichebe up front. With Kevin Mirallas looking bright from the bench on his return from injury, Moyes has further attacking options and there will be slight concerns that the Everton boss may consider a change of position for Felliani having seen his side draw consecutive blanks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Morning guys.

Repost from earlier... Leaning towards A as could sometimes play 3-4-3. Deciding who to bench might be a problem, but that's not too bad a problem to have!

    ----

    Morning DZers,

Bringing Zabaleta in this week, but after that can’t decide on:

    A. Power 5 with RVP, Sturridge, and Remy up front
    B. Kebe in midfield and RVP, Sturridge, and Aguero up front

If u go power 5 play with rvp and suarez/aguero with a bench foddler, cause it will be difficult to rotate remy and sturridge.

Fellaini had 2 shots on target yesterday so he's not off the boil yet. He was scoring with a higher% of his shots on target before so maybe he was due a little regression but nothing to worry about yet.

What form, Everton hasn't scored in hours.

I don't have Fellaini, at the moment he's looking the most likely to go from the template 5-ers. I have Baines, but I think he's also on his way out at GW25-WC. I think he's too expensive.

What to do with Ba? If I want Aguero I'd have to cut one of the P5. Same goes for Suarez but I currently have 2 free and I'm considering keeping Ba for 1 more week. Any Ba owners planning to give him 1 more week or is it time to make a move?

Easy game is Brentford the weekend before though... hopefully Ba starts v Swans in cup, Torres v Brentford in cup (weekend) then Ba versus Reading.

Not sure about dates - is it a week between Brentford and Reading? If it's a full week then there's no question about resting so no reason Torres couldn't be given both easy games to boost his confidence.

It's only 3 days I think, so if Torres starts against Bradford I'd say it's fairly likely Ba will start at Reading. Then again, it's Rafa, so who knows! 🙂

3 days yes. We got games all over. Weekend - midweek - weekend- midweek - weekend, and so on. My point is, wait until after the Brentford game before doing anything.

This is what I'm facing too. Keep Michu/Fellaini or get Aguero. I'll gonna keep for now as City have all 4 strikers fit and no Euroball so they might face even more rotation. Just don't know whats going on there at the moment.

I'm gonna wait to see who starts at the w/e against Bradford. My guess is Ba plays tomorrow against Swansea and Torres against Bradford. This would make me believe that Ba will start again for GW24 against Reading.

There's always the chance Ba and Torres start a game together too, so for now, I am sticking, but will be taking 2 freebies forward next week with a view to perhaps getting Aguero in.

I have 2 now and had planned to cut Michu for Aguero but that seems premature now as all 4 city strikers are fit. I might just use one to downgrade Jassi -> Bunn or someone which will allow me to get Suarez in next week without losing a P5. Guess I'll wait and see with Ba. If he starts tomorrow I'll prob keep.

Yeah, I'd wait to see Aguero start a game and show some form before getting him. I think Suarez can probably wait until GW26 too (ars, mcy in GW24/25) ?? I'm thinking about just getting Sturridge instead that week. Probably for Lambert.

Jelavic was rubbish last night again...which brings me to my point...Rather than swiitch Fell between "in the hole" and playing further back why doesn't Moyes play him as a striker from time to time...?...He's obviously superb in the air and on the end of one of the best crossers of a ball in the prem (Baines)...Nowt wrong with a bit of Bob Latchford when the alternatives aren't working....

That doesn't mean that he's the best crosser, just that he puts the most crosses in.

Their game plan largely relies on getting it out to him and letting him cross.

Nervous about having no Man City this week.

How about waiting for the teamsheets and doing Podolski -> Dzeko/Tevez depending on who starts?

Its either that or taking a hit to get Aguero.

    Morning lads.

Decided to play the Wildcard. Is a front three of Ruiz, Sturridge, RVP to light up top? Allows me to have the following,

    Szczesny / Begovic
    Cameron / Johnson / Baines / Turner / Demel
    Silva / Bale / Michu / Fellaini / Puncheon
Ruiz / Sturridge / Van Persie

Will do Cameron to Wilson when fit to allow me to bring Mata in for Silva when needed.

    Cheers

          Looks pretty good then.

Personally I'd downgrade Baines and get Berba over Ruiz but I can see why so many are going for Baines.

You can get Sturridge in in a couple when fixtures improve, also gives you a chance to see if he'll start every week.

    How does this look guys?

This is not a WC team, just the squad I'm building towards.

Asterisked players are players I'm bringing in.

    Mignolet* - Federici
    Shaw - Gibbs - Zabaleta* - Davies - Demel
    Mata - Puncheon* - Walcott - Michu - Fellaini
    Aguero* - RVP - Sturridge

    Players out:
    Jussi, Luiz, Ramirez, Ba

    What do you think?

Have a WC still, but think I'm ging to hold onto it.

    Bego Fed
    Mariappa Clyne Davies Rafael Nasta
    Bale Mata Walcott N'Zogbia Maloney
    Suarez Benteke RvP

Admitting that double Villa is a gamble, but Benteke is alright value, and a differential, while N'Zogbia could easily be swapped with the likes of McClean, Punch, Taarabt, etc.

I'd like to go (somewhat) differential style, and I have another WC up my sleeve.
