Southampton register their first win under Mauricio Pochettino, with Jason Puncheon bagging the opener and Rickie Lambert chipping in with a pair of assists at St Mary’s. Edin Dzeko’s sixth goal in his last six starts proves no more than consolation for the visitors – the result means United now have the chance to establish a 12 point lead over their neighbours, providing they see off Everton at Old Trafford:

On the Up

Rickie Lambert
Having scored against the champions in Gameweek 1, the Saints forward once again highlighted his fixture-proof appeal by bagging a pair of assists. Lambert has now scored or assisted in six of the last nine and has moved to 128 FPL points – third best scoring forward behind only Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez.

Jason Puncheon
The winger fired home the opener to underline his popularity as a cut-price midfield option. Puncheon has now returned four goals and six assists this term and has racked up more points than any other midfielder in the 5.0 and under bracket.

Edin Dzeko
Selected alongside Sergio Aguero for the St Mary’s trip, the Bosnian continued a strong run of form which has now plundered six goals and two assists in his last six starts. Dzeko’s somewhat fortuitous strike means he has produced returns in all six of those first-team appearances – at 7.4 in FPL, his mid-price appeal goes from strength to strength.

Steven Davis
Handed the role in “the hole” due to Gaston Ramirez’s knock, Davis grabbed the second in an impressive display. While his 4.5 price appeals, it’s worth noting this was his first start under Mauricio Pochettino – Davis has climbed off the bench after the break in each of the previous three.

Going Down

Carlos Tevez
According to Roberto Mancini, the Argentine’s omission was down to “personal reasons” with other reports elaborating further and suggesting family matters were to blame. Nevertheless, with Dzeko maintaining his run of form, Tevez could well face a task to regain his starting berth – he has scored once from Gameweek 13 onwards by comparison.

Matija Nastasic
The return of Yaya Toure allowed Mancini to shift Javi Garcia into central defence, with the teenager omitted from the squad due to fatigue. A run of 11 starts in 12 between Gameweek 9 and 20 had suggested he was all but nailed-on but with just 55 minutes game time in the last three, Nastasic’s minutes are lessening as the season heats up. Given his side’s somewhat spineless showing, Vincent Kompany’s return can’t come soon enough for Mancini.

Triggerlips, as to your comment on a few pages back. Yes, there are 4 more games left to be played. With the captaincy mostly on Liverpool players, I'd say there are still a lot of points up for grabs. For most of us, it will come down to Suarez vs Sturridge...

I personally believe so and hope so. But you never know. There is no question that he is the better player. Sturridge has plenty of talent and promise, but he won't keep up scoring in every PL game...

I saw that Manolev made his debut for Fulham today. I am monitoring to see if he can nail down the right FB role. He is VERY attacking and has a superb goalscoring record for club and country. He could yet become another 4.5-priced player to take a look at.

I thought Riether had the spot nailed down. He has been one of their best performers all season. I haven't heard anything as to why he has been dropped. I have watched Manolev for 5+ years so I will be monitoring. He can score a lot of goals, but he can't defend.

I'd say there is a very good chance RVP and Rooney could be rested tomorrow. City's loss affords SAF a bit of breathing room and he will turn his eyes temporarily onto the CL games with Madrid. Hernandez has been in fine form of late and Kagawa or Welbeck could play in behind. As a United fan I would prefer to see United play their strongest lineup in the CL fixtures with those players getting a rest for the weekend games

suarez is owned by many, and you probably got him cheap.

I think you will want him back in the future anyway, so I would keep.

I also have the dilemma and was about to do suarez out, but thought about the ownership and losing too much value

if do as i suggested you can play

      DDG
      Clichy, Azpi, Pearce
      Mata, Bale, Walcott, Fellaini
      RvP, Pog

You may have to take another hit to dump Demel or play him and hope.

these are the moves i'm looking at (but i've got .4 in the bank and marv over guthrie) but the same ideas can apply. granted i have one less *player than you do

      a) suarez + marv > anichebe + dempsey (to become afro/gerrard/hazard later) + 1.9 in the bank
      b) suarez + marv > lambert + afro + 1.1 in the bank
      c) suarez + marv> dzeko + kebe + 3.3 in the bank
      d) suarez + marv > dzeko + maloney + 3.1 in the bank
      e) suarez + marv > dzeko + mf up to 7.9 + regular benching headaches
      f) suarez > aguero

It's a tough one, Parm. I think you will have to take a hit. Thankfully, you can field 3 defenders which is huge because it means you will take a hit for a front-7 player, which is better.

I'd keep Sturridge long term, next week dependent, so I'd look to move Suarez * Guhtrie. Options are Dzeko, P. Cisse, Sissoko.

You'd be able to get 3 out at the back next week with Clichy, Azpi and Pearce. I'd take a hit to get either Suarez/Sturridge and Guthrie out of the team. What do you have in mind?

Not feeling City still, 2-3 weeks until I do. Aguero/Clichy the only possibles for me, depending on their form. I don't want to transfer in someone I don't think will be 90% nailed on long term.
